Never had Alabama fried chicken Don, so I can't comment ;) I had some in Tennessee a couple years ago, and it was not good. It's funny, up in PA there were two local places that did fried chicken (actually "broasted") that were the gold standard, everyone got their chicken for every event (weddings, cookouts, reunions, etc.). We all grew up eating it. After moving down here and tasting the real deal, my wife and I can't stomach the hometown stuff anymore. Jeff

I used a 96 XJ booster, no spacer, and the pedal assembly from the same vehicle. I tried to mod the end of the pushrod to work with my '87 brakelight switch, but ground off too much of the end of it, and the switch couldn't make contact  It was a PITA swap (the pedal assembly), but the overall mod was probably one of the best one I've done so far. I'm running 33X12.5's on 10" steelies, and I can lock them up now. Here's my writeup on it: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... highlight= Jeff

Had the three piece special from the local market, with collard greens and mac and cheese (with hot sauce, too), plus roll and butter and sweet tea. It may be a stereotype of sorts, but the South makes the best dang fried chicken, hands down ;) Now I'm home brewin' up dinner, and swillin' Bud Lime's..... Jeff

we're not a fickle bunch here........check the "Beer Drinkers, have you tried...." thread. We'll drink just about anything ;) ('cept CW, he doesn't understand the complexity of citrus  :D ) Jeff

damn....these Bud Lime's are going down too quickly...shoulda bought a 12 pack :D

true 'dat.... My beer of choice, when I'm in the local area, is Sol. Just as good as Corona, but half the price :D (yeah, it's like .50 per bottle compared to .99.... ;) )

FYI....much cheaper to have a longer driveshaft shortened than to have a shorter one "lengthened"...... Jeff

Glad to hear it Joe  Jeff

X2, picked up a 6'er on the way home from work. I do miss the little bits 'o lime floating in it, though.....takes away from the whole effect. But it's MUCH better than the chill. Jeff

you can wiggle the alt out from the bottom with the skid in place.....ain't easy, but it's doable. Either that or pull the battery and the battery tray and pull it from the top. My preference is from the bottom, though.... Jeff

Welcome to the club..... there's no official dues, but new guys hafta buy the beer  Nice MJ! Jeff

This might be a no brainer.....

also, the 2.5 has a remote fluid resivoir, bolted to the front radiator support....the 4.0 has the pump and resivoir all in one unit. Jeff -
Quite unusual for Tidewater. There was an outbreak up here last Monday (we were flying back from Puerto Rico and flew over them at 38,000 ft). The one that hit Suffolk was an F3, damage now is up to $28M, and rising. Stuff can be replaced, people cannot. My bud and his family are o.k., that's what counts. But, I don't want to see or even hear a chainsaw for at least a month...we did a year's worth of cutting in 5 hours. Jeff

Didn't need to use the MJ, there was plenty of heavy equipment down there. I got some pics, but only of houses that were vacant.... Click the full-size link: Jeff

Yeah, like this. I've got the switch, and it's on the to-do list.....I've got mine shimmed over with washers currently. Jerry (tjbliley) is in the process of rigging his up with air solenoids, should be pretty slick when he's done. Jeff Image Not Found -
One of my best buddies (and fellow Pittsburgher!) got pretty hammered by those tornadoes down in Suffolk, VA earlier this week. He and his family are o.k. but he's got about 20 trees on his house (his chimney got ripped off, blew out 6 windows, and demolished his wife's car in the driveway, too). I'm heading out with the MJ in recovery mode early tomorrow morning (they were just allowed back into the subdivision today, but still don't have electricity) with chainsaw, generator, gas, beer, and other implements of destruction, so I might not be on the board for a day or so. I'll try to get some good pics. Plan is to get all the wood off the house, cut some of it, and drag the rest with the MJ up to the street. If anyone's around Suffolk, look for the MJ. Bring a chainsaw.....beer will be provided ;) Jeff

Yeah, I'm using a factory tow bar mount on mine that I found on an XJ in the junkyard. It bolts up to the factory brackets, sandwiched between the brackets and the hooks, and runs across the lower header panel. Image Not Found

My wife hates beer too, but we found one she liked when we were on vacation last week. Blue Moon, it's a Danish wheat ale.....drink it like you would a Corona or Sol, but instead of a lime, use an orange wedge. Oddly enough, it really tastes good (even I liked it). Jeff

I like beer, and I like Clamato, but not together..... Beer + tomato juice + vodka= a "redeye", a classic drink Jeff

I've seen two different types of nut for that passenger side tow hook bracket bolt. Older Renix's have a regular hex head nut, but the newer engines have a "sleeve" type of nut that has a very low profile head, but the shank of the nut fits inside the hole in the framerail. IIRC, the bolt is a bit shorter too. Might wanna try one of those, they give an extra 1/2" of clearance or so. Jeff
-
Haven't seen that around here yet. Hope it doesn't taste like Chill....too sweet and artificially lime tasting. Jeff
-
....."Mister Blutowski......" "wanna beer?.......don't cost nothin'"

Then, like Cole said, you don't really have to remove that nut and seperate the axleshaft from the unit bearing. You can remove the unit bearing from the knuckle with the shafts still attached by pulling the three flange bolts in the rear of it. Jeff
-
If you want to run full synthetic in it, run it for at least 500 hours first....otherwise you'll wipe the bearings ;) Jeff
