  1. dang it.....I was in Johnstown over the weekend (had to make an emergency trip up, mom's in the hospital and an aunt fell down a set of steps and broke her hip in four places :shake: )......and I forgot to bring that tailgate handle with me for you :headpop: I'll probably be back up within the next couple weeks though, I'll make sure to bring it. Jeff
  2. Anyone heard from Hornbrod lately? There was some nasty weather (tornadoes) down south overnight into early morning. I think they were a bit south of his location, but am not sure..... Don, you and yours ok mate?? Give us a sitrep if ya can. Jeff
  3. pics....pics...pics..... (a video clip of it running wouldn't be a bad thing either  ) Jeff
  4. working out great. Yeah, I just capped off all the other vac lines. The only vac I'm running is for the fuel pressure reg, MAP, brake booster, and a line to the resivoir that used to be in front clip (but mine's now where the washer fluid resivoir used to be). Jeff
  5. hey y'all.....watch this..... that's beyond ate up. Jeff
  6. I used a high temp plumbing thread sealant paste from Lowe's, said it was good for 400+ degrees. Came in a little tube, about $4  Jeff
  7. tossed four empty beer cans into the bed as I was cutting the grass :chillin: Jeff
  8. To help with this, re-register your rig at DMV as a truck vs. a passenger vehicle  .....that'll give you substantial increases on your bumper height limitations. Did the same thing on mine when I went SOA, cost me about $40 or so, but well worth it IMHO. Also, in case you didn't know, VA does not have a fender flare regulation. That's not to say that your local 5-0 won't pull you just to be a PITA (especially since you're in the beach area). Stay right with the po-po, and they should stay right with you. I wave at every cruiser I pass every time I'm out in my MJ, for what that's worth  Jeff
  9. sounds like a bad ignition module to me. Jeff
  10. pics or ban..... Have fun! Jeff
  11. you been studying over on NAXJA, eh? ;) me too..... Jeff
  12. ever heard the saying "if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't?" just kidding ;) but I think the PO got in over their head on the swap and didn't realize how much needed to be done to do it correctly. For that driveline combo to function correctly, you'll need to swap the entire engine and interior harnesses (and make some modifications for the rear sub-harness that powers the fuel pump and bed lighting), as well as a complete dash assembly swap and figure out some way to get a late model fuel pump to work with your tank or swap in a late model XJ tank/pump combo. Don't fear, it's doable and there's great resources on this board to help you along the way if you decide to. Welcome to the club  Where are ya from? Jeff
  13. it's a complete harness swap (MJ) :waving: Jeff
  14. Here ya go......... ;) Jeff viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12871
  15. I'm running a 4.0 that was behind an AW4 on my MJ with an AX15......but I swapped in an auto underhood harness. It's plugged in but does absolutely nothing, and it runs fine ;) Jeff
  16. gut the interior, and this includes the carpeting/cargo mat, seats, B and C pillar trim. You can get by with partially removing the dash assembly, but it also has to come unbolted so you can rock it forward to access the harness running behind it. Have fun  Jeff
  17. Sadly, mine are still sitting in the box they came in :( They are #2 on the list to do, right behind pulling the head on my TJ once we get into our new garage, errr....house, in June (hopefully). From memory, though, those brackets seem to be specific to each side...did you try switching sides with them? Jeff
  18. I'm gonna Judy-chop all y'all..... (youtube it ;) ) Jeff
  19. No, kept the same tank but swapped out the 2.5 pump assembly with a 4.0 HO one from out of the junkyard. I know, I could have just swapped the pumps between the two units, but opted to just switch the whole assemblies (plus my old 2.5 setup is now living inside one of Pat's MJ's). Like I said, it runs fine, except my fuel gauge reads backwards, and is off by a good 3/8 of a tank :( Jeff
  20. I'll make you a deal Don.....if you or anyone else can get me a Renix assembly (4.0), I'll swap it into my MJ and send you the HO one I'm currently running. It works fine with my Renix, sans the fuel gauge ;)
  21. ....I stand corrected ;) I've only ever seen 4 of them in my life, one was the 87 XJ that donated it's D30 to my MJ, one 89 XJ in Harry's U-pull it, one 87 MJ currently sitting in my junkyard that I stripped bare, and Jerry's 87 or 88 MJ (tjbliley). Like Pete says, ANYTHING is possible. Jeff
  22. nice ride, and welcome to the forum  Any plans for the back side, like ditching the hitch and doing a rollpan under the 'gate? That would complete the look IMO.... Jeff
  23. Not quite, the 4:56's came in 87-89 XJ/MJ models with the 2.5/AW4 combo (only) JT, that axle may have CV-jointed shafts in the front instead of u-jointed ones (if that's a concern to you). Jeff
  24. Similarly, I park mine over a lawn sprinkler, go drink 2 beers, then come back and shut off the hose :D
