  2. as if your gout wasn't bad enough..... one of the only bodily pains as or more debiltating than that is kidney stones. Sheeeeesh. Don't worry about the board, take care of yourselves for now. Jeff
  3. you know Wade....now that I'm looking at the pics a bit more closely, I think I agree with ya. I don't see a CAD on the passenger side, and if you look at the profile shot from underneath of the rear axle and look at the relationship of the driverside front tire to the rock/nerf rails, it seems like the WMS is pretty wide (plus the aftermarket barbed vent fitting on the front diff), I'd say it's a widetrack D44 from a FSJ. Dakal....what's the bolt pattern on those axles? Jeff
  4. jeepcoma, see the posting rules for this forum......there's no such thing as a "newbie" question ;) HP stands for High Pinion, refering to the relationship of the pinion gear to the ring gear inside the diff housing. All Jeep D30's were/are HP except for 2000-2001 XJ's and TJ axles, which are low pinion. Meaning, the pinion engages the ring gear below the centerline of the axle. Strength-wise, the difference is nominal at most (I won't get into that discussion here, yet), but the LP axles have a worse driveshaft pinion angle, which is less conducive to angles associated with lifting said vehicles. All said, HP axles are better. You can easily spot the difference between LP versus HP by looking at the housing and seeing where the pinion is cast, but in the pic above you can see by the location of the fill plug on the front that it's HP. It's higher than the LP fill plug (because more lube is needed in the HP models so that the pinion bearing gets lubed). Jeff edit: I've got a LP D30 in my TJ and a HP D30 in my MJ, I'll snap a couple pics in the morning when it's light out and post them so you can see the physical differences
  5. I know Glenn (aka Ghost) did the MPI swap on his 2.5 XJ. It's doable, but you need to swap ALL of the electricals, including the interior harness, to make it work. For that amount of effort, might as well swap in a 4.0 (JMHO.....I've done the 4.0 swap on my MJ) Jeff
  6. HP D30 front, and a D44 rear with some stuff bolted on backwards (the id tag and the bracket for the rear height sensing valve) and it looks like you have a nail in your driverside front tire
  7. I bought the Mopar performance perches via JEGS....they were only about $10 or so, but shipping added another $15  They didn't exactly fit "snug" to the D44 tubes, but Pat (pingpong) was able to goober enough weld material into them to make me not worry about it ;) IIRC, the 44 tube diameter is 2.75".....you may be able to adapt them to the 35 by taking out some excess material from the inner radius. Jeff
  8. I can pull you any color paintjob outta my 'yards up here, just gonna be a pain to ship
  9. Making good progress, so long as the weather holds out….still shooting for a mid-June move in :D started with two loads of #57 for the driveway base: Image Not Found footer poured, foundation started last week: Image Not Found Image Not Found foundation done: Image Not Found

    MPG?

yeah, but I'm running a shorty cat and a glasspack, and LOVE to hear the exhaust music and don't mind getting into the skinny pedal to scare the neighbors   Plus I'm carrying about 400 lbs worth of tools/chains/spare parts in my toolbox, plus an engine or two at any given time ;) With my screwed up fuel gauge notwithstanding, I'd say I'm getting about 10-12 mpg. Far cry from when I first got it in stock trim and it was my DD....I was pulling down low 20's. Ahhhhh, those were the days.... Jeff

    MPG?

:shake: it's more like gallons per mile, not miles per gallon 4.0/AX15/35's and 4.56's.....+6" (or so) of lift Jeff
  13. check the driverside floorboards for rust issues ....oh wait, you already did that  (mine was exactly the same at one time) Jeff
  14. my mind is thinking either a 21 or 23 mm.....but I can't be sure.
  15. saved for use at a future date :chillin: Jeff
  16. Happy Monday all :waving: After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Wal Mart. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women-she loved to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Wal Mart Dear Mrs. Johnson, Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Samsel, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras. 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking. 2. July 2 : Set all the alarm clocks in housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money. 4. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway. 5. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 6. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged. 7. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called. 8. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 9. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 10. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the 'Mission Impossible' theme. 11. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna-look' by using different sizes of funnels. 12. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 13. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!' And last, but not least: 14. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' causing one of the clerks to pass out.
  17. PP sent......... Jeff
  18. put me down for one in black satin, but I'm confused on the total price. I got the $37, but what is shipping? Can you post or PM me a total price to 23831? Thanks, Jeff
  19. if all goes as planned and the spring weather cooperates, we're shooting for a mid-June closing and move-in, Rich. C'mon up...I'll beer ya up, and feed ya 'till you can't move anymore (that is, AFTER we get everything moved  ) Construction guys were on their game here this past week.....they saw the weather report and decided to dig the foundation and pour the footer last Thursday, before the storm hit us. If not, we'd have been set back about 6 days, thanks to the 1.5" of rain we got on Saturday and the 10" of snow we got Sunday.
  20. well....ummmm....uhhhh....no comment on the beer ;) (alcohol causes dehydration, which concentrates uric acid) That's why I'm still on 300 mg daily :D Jeff
  21. indocin (indomethacin) is about the same as colchazine, but it's side effects are alot less.... The biggest key to gout control, aside from allopurinol, is to consume gobs of clear liquid to keep your uric acid level in check. Yes, there are "trigger" foods that can lead to an attack (mine is shrimp) but you can still consume them in moderation. Purine-rich foods, like organ meats, are big triggers for some too, as well as mushrooms. Key is to know what affects you and balance it out with everything else, plus keep taking the meds and drink tons of water. I wouldn't wish gout on my worst enemy, that's how painful an attack can be. It is easily the most localized, debilitating pain I have ever suffered. Jeff
  22. regarding the expandable foam products mentioned, there are two types.....open cell and closed cell. It's the open cell stuff that you should avoid for automotive applications, that's the one that captures moisture. Jeff
  23. Allopurinol is your new best friend. It does absolutely nothing to ease the effects of an attack. DO NOT STOP TAKING IT when your attacks subside.....learn from my mistakes. You'll be taking it for the rest of your life, but it's cheap compared to some other maintenece meds. You'll need to have liver and kidney function tests periodically as well, as it can have an accumulated effect on either or both. You can develop it in any joint area in your body (stereotypically, it's most common in the great toe). I have/had it in both ankles and my left knee, so bad I lost almost 2 years of work. Colchizine is mildly effective during an attack, but can really (and I mean really.....) wreak havoc on your guts. Have fun :ack: Jeff (gout-attack free for almost 10 years now, compliments of 300 mg allopurinol per day)
  24. I know there's CC members all over the place, but there's a good bit of us here in VA, so I'm posting this on here as well as a couple local boards around Richmond.... I've been involved with this organization for awhile now, and they finally have a project lined up in the local Richmond area. If you're not familiar with what HFOT does, they organize volunteer labor and donated land and construction materials to construct or modify existing homes for severely injured veterans. If you can offer any services, labor, building materials, etc. and are interested, there is a registration event coming up on Thursday March 19th in Sandston. HFOT is currently seeking land to build a specially adapted home for a local Army veteran wounded in Iraq who is now a quadrapalegic. You can find out more info about HFOT on their website: http://www.homesforourtroops.org/site/PageServer If you’re interested in getting involved in the upcoming Richmond build, you can contact Melanie Warwick, HFOT Project Facilitator at mel@homesforourtroops.org or by calling 866-7-TROOPS. Or you can let me know and I’ll get you on the list. Thanks, Jeff He fought to keep this the land of the free... it's time to build a home for the brave. Army SSG Dwayne A. Cole was severely injured while deployed to Iraq in early 2007, when a bullet entered his neck and lodged near his spinal column. As a result, SSG Cole was left a quadriplegic. Following a six month stay at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, SSG Cole continues to work diligently to regain movement and function and has most recently had success rebuilding the muscles in his hands. He enjoys helping those less fortunate and one day hopes to become a peer counselor for those with spinal cord injuries. Please consider helping Homes for Our Troops provide SSG Dwayne Cole with a specially adapted home that will accommodate his needs and enable him to concentrate on recovery and his future.
  25. a bit long in the tooth, but here's the writeup I did on my swap...... http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11205 HTH, Jeff
