  1. Normally an AAL is installed because the original springs are sagged out, or one is looking for a cheap lift. It's a temporary solution at best, because the ride usually suffers, and eventually the AAL sags out. In your case, you already have factory AAL springs, the metric ton springs. I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't put an AAL in these, I just don't understand why it's necessary, unless, of course, you want them to stiffen up to haul rocks and/or you are trying to get a bit of lift. I think they will be real harsh riding though............ OUCH!
  2. The metric ton springs came in two flavors. They are both 5 leaf, but the leaf configuration was different. P/n 52001825 has 4 thinner leafs and one flat bottom leaf. P/n 52003676 spring has 3 thinner leafs and 2 heavy bottom leafs. These are the springs I have on my truck. Both of these springs have the same rate of # per inch but because the 3676 has just a little more arch they give a 1500# capacity, and also added 2-1/2"-3" of lift.

    COLORADO ?

My son lives in Grand Junction - works for NOAA and loves it there.
  4. What gear ratio is in it now?
  5. Ain't no news in Cleveland County Bob-man except for the occasional methhead antics....... :D . Kind of like Arab, AL.
  6. Are you all talking about the seal that goes around the entire door opening? I put these seals on mine some time ago and the seal just pressed into the channel all the way around. Didn't need no sticky stuff. WTF?
  7. How? Both are 2.62" tubes and both have 1.18" diameter shafts inside those tubes. Yes but there still in no flange to bolt the axle in . Also true. Bottom line: they are not interchangible. Whoopee, we're all correct.
  8. Agree. Tube & shaft diameters are the same.
  9. You are in the running for the "IDIOT OF THE MONTH AWARD" Stand proud! I'm a past winner, and have also won the coveted "MORON OF THE MONTH AWARD"
  10. Point is, why do you need an AAL in a metric ton leaf pack? Unless they are completly shot, which it sure doesn't look like.
  11. That's an AAL for the 4-leaf standard leaf pack. I doubt RC has a clue about big ton MJ springs. Will be interesting what they send you as a replacement.
  12. Like I said, they sound different depending on the engine and exhaust system. The resonant drone was so bad around 2100 RPM the damn dash and windows would vibrate. Along with your dental work. Trust me Wade, you would not have liked it. Nice now though...........
  13. Well, like someone said, asking 1000 peoples' opinions about shocks will bring you 1000 different answers. I've had my OMEs on for three years now and they still perform as new. Before those, I had Monroe SensaTracs; two of them (one front, one rear) blew out in less than a year. Never again.
  14. Having the Big or Metric Ton package is a very desirable option. I put new 3+2 big ton leaf packs on my rig and got a 3" lift. What I want to know is why you want an AAL on the big ton springs? For lift? Why not use a lift shackle?
  15. Same here. I had a 40 series on my stroker and took it off in less than 20 miles. I sounded like a loud tin can and had a harmonic resonant droning at around 2100 RPM that would rattle your fillings. I put on a Walker free flow muffler and ran duals back and it sounds sweet now. Made a big difference on the dyno too. But you really don't know what any exhaust will sound like until you hook it up and give it a smoke test. I think the combination of a stroker, headers, and 2.5" pipes is why mine sounded like crap at first.
  16. If you have the big ton or metric ton package, you have the heavy duty 5-leaf springs, especially if you have the three thin leafs on top and two thicker overload springs on the bottom. The AAL kit you ordered is most likely for the standard 4-leaf springs, that's why it doesn't fit.
  17. Hey! That's a good-looking head mount on that thread Jonathan. :D
  18. The XJ tail pipe will not fit an MJ, at least not on a longbed. It's best to get the muffler of your choice then bring your rig to a good muffler shop to fab the tail pipe.
  19. I talked to Marcus via email last and he recommended that for low speeds the vents work best more toward the rear. For higher highway speeds they are more effective up front. I'm pretty sure I'm going to mount my ZJ vents in the factory location, perhaps a little further back as the cross brace will permit.
  20. Thanks guys. Bob, the XJ in the pic is how the factory located these vents in their XJ Exports. I would prefer that the most effective underhood airflow would be at slow speeds, thus mounting further back toward the firewall as you suggested should work best for this. I think I could get them in there behind the X-brace, similar to those who have mounted the LeBaron vents. But of course I'd like to preserve the factory look too. :D wolfpackjeeper, I'll probably install as you suggested too - cut the large hole out w. the jigsaw using the tape. The location is what I'm thinking about more now, structurally I don't think a bunch of punched holes or one large hole will matter.
  21. Here's the link again. You need this tool to disconnect the quick disconnects at both the tranny end and at the rad. IIRC you use the 3/8" size. http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=SER&PartNumber=3530&Description=A%2fC+%26+Fuel+Line+Quick+Disconnect+Set
  22. I scored a set of regulation 98 ZJ hood vents and would like ask for install opinions. I plan to mount these in the factory location as shown on the XJ pic below. When Chryco mounted these in the ZJ hoods (and the export Orvis XJ "bonnets" also), they did not punch a big hole in the hood the same size as the vent; they punched six smaller rectanguler holes that corresponded to the individual louver openings. I don't have a rectangular hole punch, but I do have set of round Greenlee chassis punches up to 3" dia. I thinking of using these punches as I figure it will retain the hood's strength better and not restrict the airflow too much. Opinions? Image Not Found Image Not Found
  23. Yes, 9/16" dia. material for the D44 u-bolts. And I'm talking about the U-bolt nuts (two on each bolt leg), not yours mate.
  24. EDIT: JUst saw you have a D44 - IGNORE the below except about doubling your nuts. Wahoo, you going to need 1/2" dia. round u-bolts, 2-3/4" width inside-to-inside (ID), and 8" length top to bottom. ASSuming you are installing on a D35 axle and are staying SUA. These are what I used when I installed my MT 5-leaf springs. And don't forget to double up your nuts!
  25. Man, it's going to be hot in that tin building Jeff-man. You'll need some bigger fans. Wish I was still residing up there - I'd be there in a heartbeat helping y'all drink the BL.
