  2. Mmmmmm, me like that stump grinder. CW, you need a nice set of alloy wheels on that beauty mate!
  3. Hmmm. I always thought they were 3/8". That's the size quick-disconnect sleeve I use for them. But I might be wrong. :D
  4. :rotf: LET'S GO PEN!S Good job Pete! Penguins are good "stick" handlers. LET'S GO WINGS!
  5. CW, all the 33" tires I've looked at carry the 12.5 width. The Tirerack has BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 in the 33X12.5R15 size. HERE
  6. Thanks for all the input guys - I'll install it tonight while watching Superman - errrr, I mean Lebron. :D
  7. Yes I think I do. I have not updated SP2 for a long time, and there are about 100 CRITICAL  updates I have not installed yet (auto update is turned OFF). I figuring installing SP3 will get me updated to the latest for the least pain and space requirements. If I'm wrong in my assumption, feel free to jump in.
  8. Thanks SW2. :D That's one of the reasons (the combined patch rollups) I like, also that it does not require a whole lot of disk space, far as I can see.
  9. Similar thoughts too. So far though SP2 has been no problemo. :D
  10. Quick question: Anyone installed Windows XP Pro SP3? Pros / Cons / Si / No?
  11. The fuel gauge is an analog input polarity sensitive gauge from a sliding pot, up to the input buss change. What you are proposing is a digital resistive stepping box, correct?
  12. Just noticed this post. I can prolly address possible solutions to the fuel gauge issue so that your planned 97 XJ cluster install into your 87 MJ will read accurately. Can you tell me what size fuel tank is presently on your 87? And is it a LWB or SWB? If this has already been stated previously I apologize. EDIT: Since you are passing on the 97 - disregard.
  13. No worries mate.
  14. POS Renix :rotfl2:
  15. Didn't we just go through this ad nauseam? http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16744&hilit=price+track
  16. Great. Glad you got 'er done Tom. I'd still do an in-depth eyeball check on all the mains cables and wires that originate from the starter, especially where they are in rubbing contact w. the frame and/or other wires and cables.
  17. I certainly do agree they are tough. And even tougher with a good tranny cooler installed. :D But they do have a lot of power loss, almost 30% in my case on the Hesco dyno, which according to them is normal. If it ever breaks, which I suspect won't be anytime soon, I'll be working with the Novak bros to adapt a 5-speed auto in, preferably the Aisin A650E or A750E.
  18. Impressive Jeff. I didn't know that about the 2.5's. :D I've found the guys at Novac to be a class act, always helpful and responsive. QUOTE: "They (AW4) have a tendency to generate excessive amounts of heat, and are known for unnecessarily consuming more engine power than some other automatics. The shift points in the AW4 feel odd, and the spotty engagement of the lockup torque converter is idiosyncratic." Ain't that the truth.

  20. Yeah the starter relay is unique in the Renix, unlike the HOs. Tom, when you pull the starter relay, does it still crank when you re-connect the battery? It's too late now, but use a good insulator (a piece of sheet rubber is what I use) between the oil filter wrench and the solenoid contacts when changing the oil filter, especially an oversized filter. I would have bet my a$$ you fried the solenoid contacts, but since you replaced it, most logical now is the starter relay.
  21. The major difference between the 2WD and 4WD AW4's is that the 2WD version has uses a tail shaft extension for final output to the drive shaft; the 4WD uses a 4WD adapter for final output to the t-case. The 2WD tail shaft extension (p/n 83504046) was sold as a unit assembly and included the output shaft. All the 86-96 MJ/XJ 2WD's w. the AW4 used this same extension. Sooo, it can be very safely ASSumed that 86-96 output shafts are the same - 27 spline. :D
  22. The AW4 tailshaft output that the slip yoke slides on (if this is what you are asking) on the 2WD 91-96 XJ/MJ's is 27-spline. Other years above or below I'm not sure of.

Thanks Sam - great pics. My son lives not too far from there in Grand Junction and he send me some pics of this same site a couple of weeks ago. You reminded me I've got to get back out there for a visit - SOON.
