  1. :rotfl2: Some things never change.
  2. Thanks Wade - I think. :D We'll do our best.
  3. Roger that. Unfortunately those types are in all service branches. :shake:
  4. Read this - it'll help, but not on the Durango box. Plenty of info on that swap on NAXJA. http://www.chevelles.com/techref/ftecref29.html
  5. Thanks Fiat - good info as is your norm.
  6. Yep, I'd go w. Jeff's info on this one. Probably changed the plate location to the firewall after 1987.
  7. Look on the stamped steel plate on the drivers side firewall. The #5 - #8 digits (reading left to right) on the 2nd line of the plate is the primary paint code. It's usually two letters and a digit, like PS2. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 X X X X X X X X
  8. The piston bore is a larger diameter on the Durango boxes, so it needs to be shimmed out about 1/4" shims or so between the frame and steering box body for clearance. Plus the stock steering ratio of the Durango boxes is a higher ratio than the stock MJ/XJ box ratio. Rugged steering box though.
  9. Check over in the stroker forum, Do a search for Titan w. SilverXJ as the poster. He, as well as a couple of others there AFAIK had similar problems with Titan 4.6 & 4.7 strokers. Or shoot him a PM.
  10. Yep. Alpha and the others that can't control their need to continue this and stir up crap are sitting back reading all this, snickering, and congratulating themselves for a mission well done. Probably doesn't like football either. :shake:
  11. That's a pretty good price for the steering box. How many miles on it? The guys w. older GM hotrods are snapping up the quick ratio 93-98 ZJ boxes up pretty quickly as they are a bolt-in for their cars using a new rag wheel.
  12. Understand. I might add that the majority of the various military ROTC Det or Brigade CO's (most are O6's), are basically officers on their way out. They are usually NOT the cream of the crop, and none of them want any turmoil that could affect their retirement. And in a lot of areas these guys are in charge of the officer recruiters too. It's changed..........
  13. You got your wish Wahoo - so did I! Ominous silence in the new Cowboy Stadium now......
  14. That's basically just a status report on the military's ROTC program, unless I missed something? Both my daughters are in this program under ROTC scholarships; #1 (the oldest) is in her senior year as an Army nurse at UA Huntsville. #2 is in her sophmore year in the Air Farce (I agree :D) ROTC at UA. Daughter #1 had received some slurs from certain fellow students saying that she had taken a scholarship away from "a deserving minority" during her early college career, especially while fulfiling her mandatory military duties, but she takes it in stride. To make waves would just make it tougher for her in her assigned brigade, and this crap stopped really quickly. Nothing like this has been reported from daughter #2 from her USAF ROTC classmates, as she is in the majority. So it kind of depends on what military branch you're in. I'm very proud of both of them, but it's not for everyone.
  15. Good Gawd - axe this thing already! To those who insist on prolonging this, there are 100's of forums all over the net discussing this and other similar topics ad nauseaum. Go join one of them and post your "views" there forever and ever with others who enjoy endless debate over something you have zero control over. Why do y'all feel so compelled to post this stuff here on CC? Insecurity?
  16. Big game tonight in Jerry Jones' new Cowboy Stadium. Hopefully the Giants will spoil Jones' evening.
  17. Officer Candidate School. Mandatory military training for potential officers coming in "off the street". Piece of cake.
  18. Army Corps of Engineers (COE). But the Seabees would be better (I'm kind of prejudiced).
  19. Tell him not to let a couple of ignorant jarheads discourage him. Try the Navy, or even the Army. The Navy SeaBees could use a guy with a architectural degree.
  20. Gee, for some reason I'm not hearing any crowing from the Steeler fans today. WTF? Did something bad happen to them? LONG LIVE DA BEARS!
  21. If your buddy could prove this, you could have them both up for at least a general courtmartial under the UCMJ. But it will be just his word against theirs. A civilian lawyer could raise hell about stuff like this.
  22. First post on Fri Jun 13, 2003 8:37 AM on the old Yahoo group: Before that I was mostly on NAXJA before I knew better.
  23. Well Pete, maybe it's a blessing you didn't get this one. It cost you nothing except a boatload of aggravation, right? I've been seeing more and more MJs around here in fields, in old farmhouse garages, etc. that all have great bodies but obviously have not been running for years. All 2WD though. Prolly can pick them up for scrap prices.....
  24. Or install the 1997+ bottle inside the fender well like I did.
