  2. :agree: I though they were from a Saab.
  3. What a shame. :( http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/massive-sinkhole-swallows-vintage-corvettes-n28416
  4. Didn't I give a clear enough answer the first time you asked this same question in a different forum? Something you do not understand?
  5. As mine was.
  6. Do a search on this forum for "get gear ratio".
  7. Before asking any more questions, at least look under your truck as Blue88Comanche and others have said.
  8. Start a project thread in the Your Project MJs and post them there with detailed info (history, modifications, etc.) about your truck.
  9. From their catalog: I used these springs on my 2WD truck. It lifted it about 2" from where it was originally. The amount of lift you get mainly depends on the condition of the coils you are replacing. I also had to install an adjustable track bar to recenter the axle, and pack shims behind the LCA to set the caster angle back to specs. For the rear I installed new MT springs from General Springs that initially provided 3" of lift, then settled down about 3/4" in about a year.
  10. workaround, jig, hack, it gets similar results in a different manner is all i was stating. :hijack: Did y'all get any snow down there last night? We got about 6" with more coming tonight. Very un-Bama weather...
  11. That's not extended idle; it's a workaround. You can also tap into the power steering pressure switch for the 2.5L vehicles (not the 4.0L's) as it raises the idle slightly when turning to take the load off the engine. There was never an MJ factory option for extended idle. From NAXJA: The extended idle switch is used to raise engine idle speed to approximately 1000 rpm when the auto shifter is in either Park or Neutral position. A rocker-type switch (extended idle switch) is mounted to instrument panel. This switch is available only with 4.0L engine when supplied with optional police package. The extended idle switch will control a ground circuit going to the powertrain control module (PCM) When a ground signal (through the switch) has been received at the specified pin/cavity of the PCM, engine idle speed will increase. For 1984-1992 I6 XJs and all I4 XJs: Not an option in computer pin-out. For 1993-1995 I6 XJs: PCM Pin # 10, Purple, [60-pin connector] (Switch On: 1V, Off:12V) For 1996 I6 XJs: PCM Pin # 12, dark blue/orange, [black "A" 32-pin connector] (Switch On: 1V, Off:12V) For 1997-2000 I6 XJs: PCM Pin # 12, gray, [black "A" 32-pin connector] (Switch On: 1V, Off:12V)
  12. I'd never use spacers either. Recommend going with the Moog 782 coils and be done with it. Or if your want the best, get a set of OME front coils to get your desired lift (more $$) but it will ride and handle much better than the cheaper Moog springs. They lift exactly as advertised, and they never sag. http://www.quadratec.com/products/16090_4151_07.htm

  14. Okay - just pulled the elbow off the sensor; that sounds like how it should go on. Now it's time to extend the harness over for a smoke test. Thanks!

  16. I have a new 62mm throttle installed on the stroker and I want to mount a new MAP sensor on this as is done on 1996 and up 4.0L Jeep engines. The new throttle body has the vacuum line and bolt holes to mount the MAP. My question concerns the vacuum connection. The vacuum port on the throttle body looks like a 5/16" line, as in the first pic below. The rubber vacuum elbow on the MAP sensor appears much smaller than the throttle body vacuum line. My question is, since I've never seen a throttle body mounted MAP sensor, does the sensor rubber elbow slip inside the throttle body vacuum line or is it stretched over the outside of the line when mounting? :hmm: ASSume over but I don't like to assume and it looks to be a very tight fit.
  17. Grab a 1991 and up XJ/MJ brake switch and bracket from the yard and it will work with your Renix pedal junk. Just rewire it up using a NO (normally open) pair of contacts for the brake lights. There are two sets on NO contacts on the switch. Use an ohmmeter to find the NO contacts.
  18. 1980, while very exciting, was a one-game fluke. If they had a 2 out of 3 playoff series for the gold it probably would have never happened. Sadly, the only shot I see we (USA) have to medal in hockey now is the women. And frankly, I really don't care about women's hockey. Or basketball. It's like slow motion. I rather watch curling.............
  19. It's Hornbrod mate. But I've been called worse.
  20. The symptoms sound like a bad O2 sensor. Like it's staying in open loop. How many miles on the clock? If Cruiser's recommendations don't help, I'd change it.
  21. Ain't gonna happen. Daddy runs a tight ship. :rotfl2:
  22. Got that right. The reason they do the short block replacement is gained from their past experience. According to the service manager in Pensacola, originally for a problem like this, they disassembled the engine, looked for the source(s) that caused the cam to break, threw some new parts in, then replaced the consumables like piston rings, rod bearings, etc. Man-hour intensive, and lots of training for their mechanics. Over time they figured out they could actually save $$ by throwing in a new short block for certain engine failures, and it cost Suzuki less overall because there were fewer follow-up problems. Then they would ship the bad engines to somewhere like Afghanistan or Iraq to be used for their pickup truck war machines. Not really, I just made that last statement up.
  23. Don't know what that means Joe. :hmm: Anyhow, it's a busted cam. They said it's pretty common with these engines if the oil isn't changed regularly. So I had to jump through hoops getting receipts for every oil change and filter change we did since I bought it for her. So Suzuki is now satisfied. They don't even rebuild the engines anymore since Suzukis are no longer sold in the USA. They simply swap in a new short block. Only problem is that it will take 2-4 weeks, and the loaner car is only for a week. And GEICO Rental Car Reimbursement only covers rentals for an accident, not a mechanical failure. So Mama will be carting her around for awhile, because she sure isn't getting near my MJ.
