88 Cheif Throttle Body
HOrnbrod replied to 88-mj-petersen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree 100% with Cruiser's assessment. I don't think carnuck's showing up here maybe once every two weeks, blasting out the first thing he thinks reply after reply w/o reading the entire post does anyone any good. Just the opposite. Some of his answers are sound, some are not. The posts that are not sound are the ones that concern me and I don't want to see any CC members following advice that could cost them time and $$ because this advice was not thought out beforehand. That being said, as a forum moderator I was dead wrong to suggest in public that carnuck go elsewhere. When it was mentioned the post was a joke I got angry and thought saying something like that was irresponsible. But that's no excuse for saying what I did, and I apologize to the forum for that. -
Thanks for sending the pics Strokermjcomanche. Now this is the class way to upgrade your stock cassette player; an uber-rare factory CD player. I looked for years and never could find. Adam not only found one, but it was a NOS unit. Sure looks good in there. Since I couldn't find one, I settled for a single DIN CD player from a Mitsubishi since Chrysler and Mitsu were in bed together at the time. I sure like the Mopar factory CD unit better. I'm jealous............

Yes, that was one of the part numbers for the three models produced. Do you have any pics of it?

If you want to "joke around" while giving bad advice to CC members, I suggest you find another forum to do it in. Whatever little sense you made before is now nonsense. Maybe it's time for you to move on and practice being a bad comedian elsewhere. -

^^ Especially with adapting the IAT and TPS Renix sensors to an HO TB. Much more than a "bit" of work as caryuck says. More bad advice................. -
I guess because the truck is a Mazda this was enough for another one of your irrelevant posts? What was the point of that comment?

Do you ever sleep Ben?

Read through this thread. If your AW4 is in fact a 92 (you can't go by looks), this will explain why it's not shifting. http://comancheclub.com/topic/41001-tcu-era-differences/?hl=aw4&do=findComment&comment=414252

Okay, below is a chart for the 3+2 MT springs - check the date. These charts are the build prints for all 1986-1992 MJs. As far as taking a pic, someone else will have to do that - I don't own a short bed at present. You're not a problem mate, err, well, maybe just a little one. I don't blame you for wanting to know. But for sure, LWB and SWB use the same rear springs.

Nope. Your Renix can only use a TB from 1990 or below unless you make or buy an adapter plate. 3-bolt (Renix) vs. 4-bolt (HO) + adapting the TB sensors. -
She is gorgeous. First time I've seen Bushwackers? on an MJ that really look good. And the updated front end looks even better with the cowl hood. You got me thinking now. The only thing I'd change is the Fey rear step bumper. It just doesn't look worthy enough to be on a truck like that.

Call ahead before ordering and ask for Joe. Tell him you are a CC member for a discount. http://www.generalspringkc.com/Leaf_Springs_Jeep_Comanche_s/1954.htm

Seats! Who Has What In Their Mj

Agree. Just make the one you have the best that it can be.

I think you will be fine Johnny. The 4+1's are supposed to ride smoother than the 3+2's. I have the 3+2's and they ride great. I've never removed an overload leaf, so :dunno: .
-
Basically Johnny. MT springs came in two flavors. The early ones were configured 4+1 (4 thin leafs + 1 thick overload leaf) and the later ones were 3 + 2 (3 thin leafs + 1 overload leaf). The non-MT springs were all configured 3 + 1, but came with varying spring rates depending on the part number. AFAIK, the payload was the same on the non-MT springs.
-
Straight line, as in the diagram above.

Not quite. Image Not Found

The factory LWB / SWB and 2WD / 4WD rear leaf springs are identical and have the same p/n's. 57" eye-to-eye. I don't know what the problem was with your parts trucks. Image Not Found

I had a 92 XJ with the Infinity sound option years ago and all the speakers were all Jensen mfg. There were even a factory (or dealer) options for single DIN dash CD players as early as 1990; one was on a slide and removable. I have the Mopar part numbers but never have been able to locate a working unit. And a lot of this stuff was dealer installed, so there were no real standards, as with a lot of optional stuff throughout the Jeep years.
-
Not Jensen, it was called the Infinity sound option in the XJs, but like you I do not think MJs ever had the Infinity dash tweeter speaker option. Jenson was the maker of the speakers for the Infinity option. With the stock AM/FM/Cassette unit, any replacement 8-ohm speaker (5.25 round for the doors, 6x4 for the rears) is fine. I like using the Sony Xplod speakers for replacement. Decent sound and not too expensive.

2 Inch Lift Shock Questions
HOrnbrod replied to Dadinator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No problems. I used a piece of plastic sheet between the aluminum and steel. -

Measure your "at rest" eye-to-eye distance and go from there. This is the Bilstein p/n I used for about the same lift as yours: 19.5" at rest Bilstein 33-185606 5100 Series (14.06" - 22.50") Also extended the rear bumpstops 1" as below: http://comancheclub.com/topic/31856-quick-and-easy-rear-bumpstop-extensions/?hl=bumpstops -
2 Inch Lift Shock Questions
HOrnbrod replied to Dadinator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I hope they last for you. I put a set of new Sensa-tracs on my truck when I first got it, then when I did a lift about a year later and swapped them out for OME shocks, two out of the four, the RR and LF shocks, were shot. Push them down, and they didn't return as the valves were blown out on them. Maybe I just got a bad set. But never again............... -
 No idea Alex. I had those clears on just briefly, thought they were hideous, and junked them years ago. I have no idea where I got them mate. .
