  1. Maybe it will bolt in, but it probably won't work correctly. You have to look at the temp vs. ohm output graphs. As I recall the HO MAT output polarity is 180* out from the Renix, just like the fuel level sensor.
  2. Just because the two sensors ohm resistance is the same does not mean they have the same ohm outputs vs. temperature applied. You have to look at the manufacturer's spec charts for both across the low-to-high temperature range to determine if the ohm outputs are the same at all temperatures. I have not seen the charts, but for an example both sensors would need to put out 150 ohms @ 100*F. You also have to determine that both sensors ohm outputs increase (or decrease) equally across the entire applied temperature range. The manufacturer's spec sheets (output ohms vs. temp graphs) will show all that. If it's close, it will probably work in a Renix since the computer doesn't store codes; it's a new adventure every time you start it. I had to do a similar sensor comparison recently to determine if the 1996 quasi-OBD1 throttle body mounted MAP sensor had the same ohm outputs vs. vacuum applied as the stock firewall mounted MAP. It did, and I swapped one into my 91, and it works great.
  3. According to the parts manual, two "S" hooks are required on the adjustment wire even though it only shows one.
  4. Me too, but I'm all for converting all the other stuff (turn signals, parking & tail lamps, interior lights, backup lights, etc.) to LED equivalents. And here's an LED conversion table. It's also in the DIY forum.
  5. Agree. Plus little air flow blockage for the radiator. If it fits the 97+ XJ, it should fit (with a bit of fab) an MJ. Good score. I like it!
  6. Looks nice on an 01 XJ. One of the few I actually like.
  7. Got a p/n for that brush guard Adam? EDIT: I guess not - if you did you wouldn't be asking. Definitely not for a Libby.
  8. I'm an olde pharte so I think LED accessory lights look out of place on our old trucks. But not LED head lights of course. I've had accessory driving lights for years (Hellas) but seldom used them. We get pretty good morning fog around here so I swapped in a pair of old school regulation amber fog lights like the below recently. They really help and I think look better than the rectangular lights too.
  9. Ah yes. That's happened to all of us a couple of times...........
  10. I think that's because of Strokermjcomanche's recent parts score. :) Yep. I think he has pretty well cornered the MJ mud flap market.
  11. First generation (92-97) Dodge Intrepid pressure bottle.
  12. So will I.
  13. Random quote pulled off the interweb.
  14. "New cars are going back to closed systems." A few of the "throw-away" economy models are, mainly to save production costs. "The surge tank on the Comanche was just a colossal mistake." For sure. Jeep engineers themselves admitted the closed system was the "worst mistake we ever made."
  15. It's a code 15., Speed sensor or circuit, No signal detected from speed sensor. Check circuit and sensor. No input because it's not connected. It a simple reed switch that makes and breaks as the driveshaft turns and sends the pulsed signal to the ECU. The 91s use a 2-wire sensor and the newer models (mid-92 and up) use a 3-wire. Do you still have the old 231 case? You could pull the speed sensor and housing from that and swap it over. I know it's possible with the 242 t-case. If you had an auto you would really be feeling it missing shifts right now. Mileage will be affected also......
  16. PM sent.
  17.
  18. Let's hope the UAW wage demands don't "negotiate" the relocation of the Wrangler assembly plant to Mexico................
  19. It's not on their Ebay site, it's on another site. Just call him, tell him the year of your truck and which piece you need, and he will look it up. It will have p/n's like the below. If he doesn't have the short piece you need suggest you ask him if he has any of the longer pieces and trim it. 55006164-5 (R,L), Black, 1987-89
  20. Back in 03 I bought a truckload of NOS Jeep stuff from a TN Chrysler Jeep dealership auction that went belly-up. Some of the MJ specific stuff I got were new upholstery pieces, a couple of roll bars, and four NOS sets of rear AMC MJ mud guards. I installed a set on my 91 (pic below), but took them off shortly afterwards because I though they were false advertising on an HO, and that they looked hideous. I put them up on Ebay, and got maybe $25 per set, and it took quite awhile to sell them. Wish I had kept them now since they are in such high demand. Live and learn. :shake:
  21. I really don't get it. :hmm: For the $$ you guys spend on overpriced aluminum expansion/fill tanks, you could junk the obsolete Renix closed cooling system and convert it to an open system. It's self burping - downhill parking and repeated burping by pulling the temp sensor unnecessary.
  22. You can swap in the later model stamped steel valve cover on your Renix (I know that works fine) then use the grommets and plumbing from the later model CCV system. http://comancheclub.com/topic/12217-ho-valve-cover-on-a-renix-40-update/?hl=valve+cover http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/4-0l-ccv-elbow-removal-guide-tips-write-up-733669/
  23. Thanks for getting back. I too did the quicker steering 93-98 ZJ steering gear mod over five years ago and I love it. At the time I had the 99 intake manifold installed and because I wanted to use the more efficient 96 and up power steering steering bracketry I also replaced the power steering pump with an almost new unit from an 04 Wrangler at the same time. I've had no problems since then. I'm just curious if the newer 04 pump is better matched in pressure to the ZJ steering gear. Something to ponder - I have no idea.......
  24. Call Mike Gilbert at Lambert Auto Sales (Parts, 888-856-4524) - they have some NOS MJ body side moldings listed including the piece you need depending on what year your MJ is. http://www.lambertauto.net/
  25. Next year his knees will be hitting the dash Pete. :rotfl2:
