Yeah Knuck, but you hit an Alabama goat-deer. They average about one-half the size of the Dakota white tails.

Since Chrysler (and all the other US and foreign car builders) have to warranty their products, they impose strict guidelines and standards on the manufactured parts that they outsource. They have to. And the overseas suppliers usually follow them to the letter since the contracts are lucrative and they have tons of competitors who will gladly take their place. So It doesn't bother me that much. But the offshore junk that's manufactured and marketed with little or no oversight except their own I stay away from.

What engine and transmission do I actually have?
HOrnbrod replied to Khor1287's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The bell housing number indicates a GM V6 housing as used on the 86 Jeeps w. the V6, and also Chev S10 2.8 V6's until ~1993 or so. The 13-52-066-927 is the number for an S10 tail shaft. So it's probably had an S10 2.8 V6 swapped in. You need to find the engine block casting number to be sure. I don't know where the engine casting number is on the V6's. -
Intermittent wiper conversion w/o tilt

Intermittent wiper module. These are NLA, but most everyone has some extras, including me. Pick one up at the yard, or just post up for one in the Classified - Wanted forum. -
Anyone ever seen this before?
HOrnbrod replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't think the ballast resistor is the rough idle cause. It looks like the brittle coil wire insulator just cracked over time due to heat and vibration, but the conductive wire itself is intact. That's pretty common with power resistors in vehicles. I'd just replace it with a new one. -

Vacuum leaks in the blower circuit
HOrnbrod replied to Tex06's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Got it on Fleabay. I used it for several years with cruise and had no problems. There are several other canister relocation examples in the DIY forum. A vacuum canister comes in 100's of sizes and shapes. Just pick your space, then find one that will mount and fit well. Ebay is a good source to look. -
Intermittent wiper conversion w/o tilt

Got mine HERE, $52.95. That was years ago though. With as much work as that switch is to install, I'd not use a junkyard part.......... -
Vacuum leaks in the blower circuit

I like it in the engine compartment where you can keep an eye on it. http://comancheclub.com/topic/16154-vacuum-reservoir-relocation/ -
Vacuum leaks in the blower circuit

Stick your head under the right side front bumper and see if it's there. Or disconnected. Or cracked. -

Intermittent wiper conversion w/o tilt
HOrnbrod replied to a bum with money's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For the multifunction switch you will need the "w. intermittent, w/o tilt" switch, p/n 56000032. And of course you will need a new stalk w. the intermittent wiper feature and the plug-in module. -
What axle ratio did you get? I've had both the 3.55 and the optional 3.73. I like the 3.73 much more. You can get your complete equipment list using your VIN number HERE.

Rambler 6 a Lifetime Engine
HOrnbrod replied to texasjack's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Neither is a Comanche body with a Chevy engine in it. According to the registration it is. :P -
Needed new tires for the wife's JKU, so picked up a take-off tire/wheel set like the below fresh off a new 2017 JKU 75th Anniversary Edition that was getting lifted and customized. Looked inside the wheel for the p/n to verify and it was stamped "China" on one of the spokes alongside the Mopar p/n. Everyone outsources everything now. :shake:

Rambler 6 a Lifetime Engine
HOrnbrod replied to texasjack's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The LS engine weight is ~20% less than a 4.0. Engine and drivetrain mods don't bother me at all but I sure hate to see a pristine MJ body get hacked up into a trail rig. -

^^ Well said. I've had to have several of my best buddies put down throughout the years and it gets tougher each time. Gus, my long-time back yard snake killer, goose fighter, and mechanic's helper is twelve now and can no longer do any of those things well, although he still tries. All we can do is enjoy their company while they are with us, then let them go when the time comes. It's tough...

LIke the Renix guy said it could be burnt contacts on the switch and/or it's connector, but not the brown wire since there isn't one on the HO switch. Check the linkage first especially if you have to fool with the ignition key to get things to work.

Did you try to align the rod?
