  1. A lot of us (including me) got new springs HERE. Both standard and HD Metric Ton springs are offered. Occasionally there are group buys set up by club members so you can save a few $$.
  2. In that case I'd pull/push out the dent, buff and polish out the paint, clean it up, then flip it and make a quick grand or more. Probably more.
  3. OP, you never mentioned how many $$ you have into this truck now. In my mind, that's the bottom line determining factor for deciding whether to 4WD it or just clean it up and quick-flip it.
  4. Sounds good - thanks for checking.
  5. 'Bout time, eh Dirty? A long overdue MJOTM. One of the, if not THE, most helpful and knowledgeable CC members. Thanks for all you do mate.
  6. You are not checking the fault codes correctly if the CEL doesn't flash after the initial ignition key sequence.
  7. 91 = OBD1 = Check for fault codes first. http://comancheclub.com/topic/28111-reading-obdi-91-and-92-mj-fault-codes/
  8. That might just work. If you don't mount the tow hooks, will it fit behind the plastic air dam w/o cutting or trimming it? It looks like it might in the instruction manual. I'm just looking to tie in the frame rails with a cross member. I'll take a closer look since mine doesn't have the air dam but the instructions on their site mention you can cut a piece of the air dam to clear the tow hooks so I guess it's safe to assume the cross bar will clear. Thanks..
  9. That might just work. If you don't mount the tow hooks, will it fit behind the plastic air dam w/o cutting or trimming it? It looks like it might in the instruction manual. I'm just looking to tie in the frame rails with a cross member.
  10. The front bumper hood, and front fenders will fit, but for the grill and surrounding parts (turn signals, etc.) it depends on the donor XJ year. Anything below a 91 (90 and down) will fit your 86, but 91 and up are different, but can be made to fit.
  11. That's kinda overkill Bo, but well thought out and would be nice for a crawler. But not looking for a steering box brace (already have one), just a bolt-on brace inside the front frame rails if doable that will allow you to keep the stock sway bar.
  12. A removable cross brace that uses existing frame holes and/or frame weld nuts w/o a special bracket being necessary. Sort of like a front cross member behind the bumper and in front of the steering box. I've never seen such an animal. Maybe krustyballer could fab something up??
  13. Anyone make a rail-to-rail frame brace up front that doesn't require a special track bar bracket? Been looking with no joy. The Crusty's and Rugged Ridge frame braces both require a bracket. And no, not looking for a steering box brace.
  14. Well, Gatorgirl never said how much shaft / tank clearance she had, so we're just speculating at this point...........
  15. True - missed the SporTruck. The 2WD rubber sheathed drive shaft was about 4" in diameter but I replaced it with a Tom Wood unit. Did they also use the rubber shafts on the SWB trucks? I thought I read somewhere that they only used them on long beds but not positive.........
  16. How close is it? Measure it. LWB or SWB? Mine's about 3" and it's a LWB.
  17. Sorry Dirty, I don't like them at all. Okay on a Wrangler, any Wrangler, but not on an MJ or XJ. They look like what they are, transplants from something else. They really suck. And you need to drill some more holes in your doors. Also, could you resize your pics a bit smaller before posting? It takes me forever to download them on my crappy DSL link. But I still love ya mate and am enjoying your build progress.
  18. Good "how-to" HERE.

    New Bama Tag

What!? They're only $43 annually here in California, very surprising. Yes, it's a rip. But I'll still take the cost of living here vs. Cali Mike. Depending on which table you look at, Bama ranks at about the #10 state for cost of living with MS #1 at the lowest and HI the highest.

I hear ya Jim, but since Big Papi retired the Sox and baseball in general don't turn me on as much anymore. Hopefully it will pass.......... I understand I know it was tough for me to watch them celebrate the end of the regular season (and Papi's retirement) then get swept in the playoffs :ack: Way to waste a golden opportunity to send Ortiz out at the top of his game. But such is life, it can be a good team this year if they can just get firing on all cylinders. I imagine there's less and less New England sports fans in your neck of the woods these days with all the :fs2: :grrrr:  :wall: at Brady Yep, I wish Papi had stuck around for another year, but it was his choice to retire and make commercials. He had a good run. There are very few New England sports fans here, at least that I've met. The main pro teams here are the Atlanta Braves, Hawks, and Falcons, who normally stink, and of course the Crimson Tide, who everyone loves except the Auburn fans. My two daughters went to Bama, so I love them too.

    They cost $50 annually.
  22. Looks like you have a nice spacious shop. And yes, she will get plenty of practice with the 86 2.8L V6.
  23. Short after 93, manual or auto.

Great... Now I'll NEVER get the chance to have that tag in Bama :D No worries mate - the "RENIX" plate is still available. :rotfl2:
