  1. i put redline 75w 90 synthetic in my 88 about 8 years and 60k miles ago.i haven't lost a drop and it sure doesn't hurt anything.the only thing i've seen about synthetics not being included in a warranty is my little brothers auburn posi unit in his 80 malibu and my friends moroso posi in his 72 chevelle wouldn't be covered if it failed if they found synthetics.
  2. i put the dynomax catback on the gf's 95 4.0 zj and it fits and sounds great.it definitly doesn't sound stock.
  3. i had a dynomax superturbo on mine for a few years.it was alittle louder than stock but not so loud it was annoying.they're not real expensive.on the same note i like loud exhaust so i went back with a flowmaster 2 1/2 and 2 1/ 2 aluminzed tailpipe and high flow catco converter.
  4. i wouldn't use it in my vehicle but i had just done a valve job on a guys 4.3 astro van and his rear main was leaking as well.he couldn't afford to fix both but 4 months later and it's still holding up not leaking.
  5. i picked up some stuff at advance auto for like $18 that i think was in a gray bottle.i put it in a 92 astro van that was pouring and in about 2-300 miles it quit leaking.for $18 it's worth a try.
  6. i think i'm going to go with the ho-head and just port the renix intake as well.it seems alot easier than dealing with the throttle body issue.
  7. mine was doing this a couple of months ago.i was leaving work and it would usually bog then it would eventually pick up and go but that day the fuel pump decided to finally die.
  8. over tightening a belt can ruin a new waterpump quick or you just could've got a bad one.some reman's aren't as good as new ones.
  9. i did the valve cover fix as well.not a drop of oil in the air box.i spent $20 on a cover,$35 on a gasket and $1 on a fitting.it is well worth the effort and isn't as hard to do as you may think.
  10. i changed over to an open system cheaper than that tank.
  11. you've never seen a first gen. dodge neon head then.trust me it's the head gasket seeping as others will testify too as well.
  12. as long as they'll bolt on then i'll upgrade the intake at a later time.
  13. i wasn't aware the bolt patterns are different for the manifolds.i just put a new exhaust manifold on and really don't want to fool with tb issue just yet.i can get a 91-95 head for less than a $100 from the local junkyard if i pull it myself.i just wanted to get a head already done and ready to swap on the same day as right now my mj is my only running vehicle as i haven't had time to put my 393 back in my mustang.i may just put up with the head gasket seeping oil.it's definitly the head gasket because i switched to the new style steel valve cover and fel-pro perma seal gasket and my valve cover has never been that dry and no more oil in air box.thanks for help, guys.
  14. umm, that really didn't answer anything.what i'm asking is it really worth changing to a ho head and are all 91-up heads the ho style.
  15. my head gasket is starting to seep oil after 160k miles.i was thinking about changing to a different head while i'm at it.i've heard different stories about ho-heads and even newer heads.would it be worth my while to do this and i really don't want to change my intake just and deal with the tb issues.i'd like to hear from personal experiences.thanks
  16. i've never seen a 4.0 with a one piece rms.they probably wouldn't have leaked so much if they would've had a one piece seal.
  17. you don't have to drop the fuel tank on a mj to get the pump out.not on my 88 anyway.
  18. some of the older 258 cj motors had a plastic cover on them.they were crack prone and i don't know if they would interchage with a 4.0 or not.
  19. i would fix the gauges and see what i'm really getting.my mj with 160k 4.0 and a/t gets about 16mpg.it didn't get much better than that when it was new.my gas gauge when i fill it up takes 100-125 miles before it moves but is accurate when it hits empty.you can't trust the gauges in these trucks.mine is a bad sending unit.
  20. i got the hesco pump as well.expensive but a very nice piece.
  21. i've used the right stuff sealant with alot of success.it is alittle expensive but it's still cheaper than a $35 valve cover gasket and you can make several gaskets with it for less than $20 a tube depending on where you get it.advance and federated auto parts both carry it.
  22. i did this swap as well.it has all but eliminated my blowby in the breather box.the downside is that i'll have to oil my k&n filter now instead of the engine doing it for me.i think i spent about $20 for a cover and used a fitting i had in my tool box and a can of therightstuff sealant.money well spent.
  23. i bypassed mine as well.after the 3rd valve went out in 10 years i got tired of it.i also used the newer cherokee hoses.i have more heat now than ever and no more control valves to worry about.like everyone says all the valve does is cut water flow off when the a/c is on but my a/c died years ago so it doesn't matter to me anyway.
  24. mine has only 160k.i got it from my grandmother who bought it with only 7k miles on it.the drivetrain is all original.it doesn't run as good as it did 21 years ago but i would take it anywhere.i feel sure it'll make it to 200k.
  25. my 88 did this as well.when i upgraded to a cherokee tach style cluster my volt gauge reads much higher.it's still not 100% accurate but it's alot closer.
