If it has one valve cover it is a 4.0 I-6 and if it has two valve covers it is a 2.8 V-6 which were dogs when new as were S-10 pickups with the same motor.

I plan on cutting 5 1/4 holes in the B pillar (metal part) and mounting 5 1/4 speakers there behind the trim and installing speaker grills in the trim panel so they look near factory. :dunno:

Looks like a pair of sheet metal shears or a cutoff wheel could make that mod. :cheers:

What I did was drill out the rivets that hold the part of the seat brackets to the floor on both the MJ bench seat and the ones on the XJ buckets and used allen headed bolts and locknuts to secure the brackets to the seat sliders, the only hard part is drilling out the rivets and spot welds. :fs1: The seat adjusters stay with the seat so if your passenger seat in the XJ was adjustable it still will be.

I just cleaned and scuffed the existing paint that was in good shape then I rolled on the Herculiner.I would definatly reccomend putting it over a well protected and not rusty surface.With any paint product its only as good as what you are putting it on.

I used Herculiner everyone I talked to was very happy with it.I have heard of cracking and fading problems with the Duplicolor product.Herculiner is about $20.00 more for the kit but I have always said you get what you pay for.

Voltages should be 12-13v static ,over 10v with a load checker on it ,13.8-14.2 with the engine running.

Note that while the 72 up auto trans is a Chrysler model, it won't bolt to a Chrysler engine, nor will any Chrysler trans bolt to an AMC. The bell is made onto the trans and AMC models have the AMC bolt pattern, Chrysler the Chrysler bolt pattern. All internal and external parts interchange, but the main case (with bell housing cast into it) is different for AMC and Chrysler versions. " Aparently the person who wrote that never heard of a late 70s to early 80s Jeep Grand Wagoneer they had AMC 360 and a Torque Command transmission (Torqueflite).

When I was much younger retreads were readily available for trucks and cars,and I can tell you there good retreaders and bad retreaders. Most depends on the condition of the carcas to be retreaded and its prep before retreading. Maintanance (air pressure) is paramount to the life of any tire especially a recap. Its true most of the gators you see these days are from new tires not recaps.I have personally put over 40k on a few set of recaps but these days new ones are cheap enough to buy new ones for cars and light trucks.

Maybe these pics will give an idea what I am trying to do. I will be posting pics as soon as the front end is assembled, but the front bumper will be silver with black ends and the factory flares wil be black also.

I can always change the b pillar vent color but the front and rear bumper color wil be silver there will be a silver accent on the hood and some striping. Just want it to look different than another truck in the area. More pics to come. :D

Most all the paint work is done,a few more things to be added and re touched but here we are.

That truck isnt too far from me. The last time he listed on Ebay I was high bidder @ $850 and then it was pulled with a buy it now shortly before the sale ended. I bought a nicer truck in Port Richey for $700, now his price is $1700 probably more to the story than he is telling. :dunno:

Check Ebay type in Jeep Cherokee XJ Bumper. I have seen some on there that are realy nice and at a good price too.

MAN I hope you mean WINCH not wench. I can't get my old lady to sit inside my truck let alone sit on the front bumper. :typing:
