  1. From the front the IAC is on the left. Not sure about the exhaust problem.
  2. Will the mounting bracket from an AW4 work with an ax15? Instead of looking for the cross member, I've been told I can use a 3/4 inch t-case lowering kit, but that bracket is still a project stopper for me.
  3. I always wondered why a plant produced a poison to affect the victim later, rather than instantly. I would think it'd be there to discourage the animal from eating the plant, but not if it takes several hours for it to take affect. A spider bite or bee sting has an instant reaction, to try and deter you from hurting them or their home. But plants... those plants are there for one reason... and I think mr. hornbrod nailed that reason, to punish us for not paying attention in that survival course we took so many years ago..
  4. Hmm, I don't think I know what you mean. I know jeep roll bars are pretty stocky, but are you looking for one that extends a bit further back, or?.. A picture of what you want would be great. And no problem.
  5. How about this? It's in Charlotte, that's not too far from Rockwell. I could even pick it up for you if you couldn't get down there right away. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/3764165548.html Edit: wait a minute, I misread the compatibility, I'm not sure it'll work for MJ.
  6. Really? I did not know that, thanks for sharing. The write up is the first link I posted, it takes you to a post by skidoo. The links are just above the two transmission pictures. These are them so you don't have to navigate too far to find them: http://comancheclub.com/topic/32733-what-is-the-correct-way-to-hook-up-an-electric-fan/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/32861-electric-fan-stays-on/?hl=fan&do=findComment&comment=331350 Not sure why I didn't post them to begin with
  7. Black is ground. Unless someone changes the color of a wire, grounds are always black.
  8. I just did this a few weeks ago, but the electric fan I had gotten had two wires, not three. Mind if you snap a quick picture? This will give you a couple common write ups: http://comancheclub.com/topic/38295-pfcs-88-camy-project/?p=386370 You can also see how I installed mine here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/38295-pfcs-88-camy-project/?p=386627
  9. News to me.. haha Sounds like there isn't enough fuel getting into the engine. When's the last time you did a tune up and cleaned the fuel injectors? Is your fuel tank low when making those turns? How long do you have to be pulling one of those high G turns before your engine quits?
  10. Let me rephrase that: Every JY that gets an MJ in comes with a mangled tailgate, someone has taken it already, or I've taken it and sold it. I've never once damaged a tailgate, just wanna make that clear so I don't get hollered at, haha. I understand, like I said, I'll keep an eye out for a straight one. If you weren't so far north in Ohio, I'd say I could meet you halfway somewhere to save shipping, as I'm sure it would cost a hell of alot more than it's worth.
  11. I think it's time for a M.A.S.H. marathon.
  12. Well, I have a tailgate previously promised to rockwell, but I think your him after a professionally done name change, haha. However, as shown in the pictures below, it is slightly bowed. If you want it, great, but if not I'll keep an eye out for a straight one. I've gone through so many all the JYs here are running out. Don't mind the duct tape, it was just a silencer so the supports would stop rattling.
  13. Nice, I've been meaning to go to that pull apart. Been to the charlotte one a few times. Did you happen to notice any 89+ manual XJs? or 2.5l?
  14. Looks like it's off a... ZJ? Other than that, though.
  15. I'd imagine metal is better than plastic. Go for the metal valve cover. Hell, I might be able to get you a renix 2.5 cover if you can't find one.
  16. I seem to have fixed the problem. How you ask? I have no idea. I did several things at once, without testing the idle between adjustments. Replaced some vacuum lines, map sensor, recleaned iac, double checked and readjusted tps. Turned it on, it sounded fine. Let it warm up for several minutes and its sounded better than it ever has before, a nice, low, strong idle. I appreciate everyones help, though I don't know who to credit for the method that fixed it, haha.
  17. About that electronic speedo, I picked up a np231J off a 96 XJ. It looks like I can unscrew the sensor from it, so would I be able to modify it to use a speedo cable?
  18. I'll have you know my mother doesn't drink, she just doesn't go out in public with me... haha Hope you all were able to spend time with your mothers today.
  19. I think I may have the solution. This exact thing happened to me awhile back, and it turned out that my battery connection was loose, and when my battery disconnected it shut off my motor. This meant that the alternator was bad as well. So I tightened my battery terminals and changed my alt and it hasn't done it since.
  20. The old girl up top is pushing 13, and is slowly but surely starting to show her age. Had her since she was just a pup, 1 year old.
  21. Mine too. My favorite back and fourth I've had with someone is when I pulled up to a security post. The guy first commented on my front license plate, then I pulled up a bit further and he noticed the "cherokee" I was driving had a bed. He started asking me all these questions about how I went about cutting off the back of an XJ and retrofitting a bed on it's frame, and how I got it to look so good and smooth. He had no idea Jeep ever made a pickup, and said he wanted one... Bad... Needless to say I kept a close eye on my MJ that day, haha.
  22. This would be a BA-10 my friend, not an AX-15RockMJ Edit: Sorry, I did not realize posts were already made. Would help to refresh the browser Ha, don't worry about it. With a lot of posts, it's hard to tell what's been answered and what hasn't. But I do have a question just above your post. I also forgot to ask if the splining on that tranny would work being a 99. Thanks.
  23. Question: (DISREGARD) Someone is offering me an AX15 with np231 and cross member for a 99 TJ sahara for a negotiable $600. 150xxx miles, shifts smooth and goes into 2 and 4wd without a hitch, synchromesh in good shape. I believe I may have scored here, but before I jump on it, is this as good a deal as I think it is?
  24. Update: I tapped the map sensor, as that's all I knew how to do, but it doesn't effect it. I went to a jy and swapped the IAC valve with one off of a grand cherokee (4.0) and it still gives the same problems, so it's not that. When I tested the TPS, it gave me 4.88 volts, and 17% of that is .83 for idle, which is what I have it set at. Does that seem right? Like I said, I checked all my vacuum hoses with the old carb cleaner method, and no spikes in the idle. I did purposely disconnect my vacuum hose from the back of the valve cover leading into the exhaust manifold, and plugged the nipple with my finger, and that lowered the idle quite a bit, but it obviously couldn't breath, so that's not a solution. It only idles higher when it's warm now, and it does idle lower briefly, as if the computer is compensating before it goes back up.
  25. In this pic you can see that the bulkhead to battery bracket is up side down.... Good eye, I've never had a reason to change the battery so I've never noticed that. Fixed it today.
