  1. NC, TN and KY would have been within my reach, but not IN. Bit too far of a haul to wheel my DD on trails I might not come back from, haha. Guess I'll catch the next one.
  2. Here you go: http://strokedjeep.com/renix%20t-body.html Very reasonable price if a core is sent back to him. I haven't personally ordered one yet, but I will be soon. Edit: crap, just realized that IS the guy from stroked jeeps. Damn...
  3. I got my 88 2wd, 4.0, short bed with decent interior, almost no rust, but less than desirable paint for $1250. Since the only real difference between mine and the one your looking at is it has 4wd, I'd say $1500 to 2 grand sounds about right. Stock, right? If it's properly lifted, larger tires, nice aftermarket parts, that price just keeps going up.
  4. Because adding a lift and larger tires to a 2wd truck is usually for looks only, and RC seems to be against that by separating 2 and 4wd trucks. Even though most of their full lift kits are for show anyway... Lookin at you, Chevy and Ford..
  5. 4.5 SUA and 33s: At this point you definitely need fender trimming, but no rubbing and plenty of axle travel.
  6. I thought about swapping the frames out so I could still have the tilt function, but it's really not worth the effort right now. So far the only time I wish the seats would fold forward was when I was installing them.
  7. Tall? These sit the same as the MJ buckets, these had the flat brackets, though, not the rockers. I still have my MJ buckets, would it be easy to move the tilt function over from them to the XJ seats?
  8. Are the race seats using MJ brackets, or are they fabbed? If they are MJ brackets, you can find a pair of XJ seats out of a JY and swap the brackets. If your looking for MJ specific seats, good luck, they are very rare. I have an MJ passenger seat, but no bracket and I'm sure you want matching seats. 2 door cherokee seats are ideal for the tilt forward function.
  9. I scored at the JY the other day, got two butterfly buckets from an XJ in great shape, just a bit dirty. Spent a few days scrubbing and cleaning them, letting them sit in the sun, swapping brackets and just today putting them in the MJ. Unfortunately, they are from a 4 door, but I've spent the better part of a year looking for the ideal 2 door XJ seats with no luck, plus I rarely went behind the seats anyway. I've got my fire extinguisher, beater stick, winch control and CDs behind the passenger seat within reach from the drivers seat. THIS is why I needed new seats, haha. Passenger side is almost perfect, but the drivers is absolute $#!&e: For reference, this is the bracketry difference between the XJ (left) and MJ (right): SO glad to finally have this done.
  10. Bearings maybe? Though if it were the bearings, it would probably make the noise even in 2wd. Are you sure it's not the t-case?
  11. If adding fluid to the trans silenced some of the noise, it's a pretty sure bet it IS the transmission. As far as the e-brake, go to either the left or right rear drum, look for the larger tube going to it (not the brake line) and trace it up to a junction where it meets the other line. Looks like a T, adjust the nut at the end of the T to increase or decrease tension on the lines. As far as sealants, go with High temp RTV meant for oil applications. I think it's rated for somewhere near 600 degrees Fahrenheit and isn't affected by oil.
  12. Nor can I, I'd forgotten it was a drill weekend for me...
  13. This is true, just found out today. Got some seats from the JY thinking I'm gonna have to drill out rivets and move rails, but all I had to do was move the bracket from the MJ buckets to the XJ buckets, absolutely ZERO modification. Man was I pleasantly surprised, to say the least! You were lucky enough to find some 2-door XJ buckets? After easily a year of searching and waiting for the right ones, I said screw it and got some 4 door buckets. No tilt forward, but I rarely used that anyway, got my fire extinguisher, beater stick, CDs and winch control behind the passenger seat so I can just reach over and grab it from the drivers seat. They are nice buckets, too. Got the butterfly flaps and everything, haha.
  14. I had my MJ 2wd shaft with the rubber outer tube cut and balanced in a few hours at a shop. No issues at all, though he did look at it first and said he never saw that before. No vibes at 85, so I'd say it's good. I know that doesn't answer your question about the XJ shaft, but it does give you an answer to "can the MJ 2wd shaft be cut and balanced".

  16. Wow, that is alot of oil, are you sure none is leaking from a bad gasket? I'd say seafoam your engine. In the gas tank, in the intake, and in the oil. It'll help it all.
  17. It would take a hit job to be able to afford one of those, haha.
  18. Just found out oct 4 is a drill weekend for me, guess ill have to catch the next one...
  19. Doesn't the braided steel prevent the lines from bulging out when under pressure?
  20. Cool, I'll let him know. Thanks. He's thinking about putting power steering in it anyway, so it'll be of more use then I guess.
  21. Really?? From the factory this truck has neither, no power steering and not even an idler pulley for a compressor. What else would it need to idle higher for?
  22. Working on my buddies MJ today and was baffled at what this was. It looks like cruise control, it has a plunger reaching out to the throttle linkage, but I've never seen a CC on these trucks that look anything like this, they usually have a push rod that wraps around over the valve cover. It's an 89 2.5. There is no control for it in the cab, either. I also thought it could be a sensor that tells where the throttle is, like a TPS, but this box looks a bit complex for just that. Also found this at food lion the other day, had Jeep logos all over it. Pretty cool!
  23. How'd that work out for ya? Haha, just kidding, that really is.. odd, to say the least, that someone went through the trouble of locating you and placing a note at your door.
  24. The tie rod is a nice upgrade, front axle should be bolt on. Depending on what the axle is, you can swap your drums for it's disc rears, I did that with my 8.25 rear with some light grinding.
  25. "best offer over $20,000 dollars" Other than the redundancy, there is a major typo here. That, or he doesn't want to get rid of it. Up for sale makes the wife happy.
