Suzuki samurai folks here?
ThatJeepGuy replied to ThatJeepGuy's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Samurai parts pile... A member on another forum local to me shared a pile of samurai leftovers... The main grab here was a frame, doors, hood and windshield frame. Only amazons finest hockey pucks gets used for body mounts in this driveway. My current task is utilizing the frame with the body bolted down to get the body back into square for the doors and top to fit right. I'll also use this time with the frame attached to start aligning and welding in the rear of this to make it a cab. -
Agree on the regear. I had 36 iroks and 4.56 many moons ago as my DD and it was manageable but wanted the 4.88s.

I have a few if you're interested.

1987 Comanche The Long Hard Road
ThatJeepGuy replied to ThatJeepGuy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Subtle prep work has begun for a return trip to windrock. Earlier this summer we made the annual jeep blessing here in Michigan... jeep got tired and took a nap Zero actual damage, co pilot was a little uneasy but came out with a smile 😃 Today's to-do list was a new clutch fan, new alternator and some how to teaching with the younger kiddo. Serpentine belt ia tight! Steering box replacement, total fluid check and then potentially a revamp of the rear tube work to accommodate storage space and revamp of the rear shackle mounts tomorrow... -
Suzuki samurai folks here?

Was not hard at all on this one, even did it in my "nice clothes" at the end of the night after putting kiddos to bed. Wife gave me a look while I was looking at it in the garage putting some stuff away. "what ya thinking?" Me? - firing up the plasma cutter and ditching this rear section... "soo what are you waiting for?" Yea i suppose it won't take long soo why not. My next trick will be figuring out how to un-frowny face the body to get the door strikers to actually line up with the door latches... -

4.0 i6 aw4 and 231j tcase. Custom frame. Potentially d30 axles front and rear for a 4 wheel steer build. Rear damage may get chopped and then convert this into a cab and bed truck build -
Are there any Suzuki samurai folks here?? I've got a newly aquired samurai body, an extra jeep drivetrain/axles and questions...

Looking forward to your progress

Thanks for sharing that, I hadn't looked into the potential for a kit. $3k~ for the kit itself kinda helps paint the value picture

Just saw this tonight and figured id share. I don't mind it other than the description... "It was built in a more Ruggedized fashion using double the amount of fasteners" I've had a 4.7 WJ and its was a good time, id be pretty curious how this one handles with the work done to the rear.

My not soo old school knowledge base and thus prolly limited on the new school front as well for motor head stuff... If you wanted a carb setup - 350 if you wanted a fuel injected setup - LS. I'll be upfront as I can hahaha... I have a few ls swapped jeeps some ive done/doing and one ive bought finished. Don't mind the work going into them... fuel injected and parts availability - the price and availability for finding replacement motors - it appeals to me. For me and my lack of experience with diverse engine packages (ima jeep 4.0 and LS kinda fella). I think if I had an engine combo that I would play with a carb on to learn and experience it - i would go 350 - again because of the price and availability for finding replacements.

OMG The Crewcab 6x6 Comanche
ThatJeepGuy replied to ThatJeepGuy's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Thanks for reaching out, ive actually had contact with a few of the previous owners after me... last I knew, the guy local to me who aquired it wound up trading it off to a guy for a hunting bang stick. Ron Asher is the guy on my last known ownership list. -

Needs new leaf springs for sure. Just 400lbs of bagged materials (cement mix, pea gravel etc) and it starts squatting.
