Whats so bad about the Bench?
wolfpackjeeper replied to Windowsrookie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like the bench. When the wife rides with me it lets her snuggle up next to me on the road which is nice (wife is hot). When I was commuting to Montgomery (3ish hours away) the lack of an armrest got annoying, so I would put my overnight bag in the center, boom instant armrest. I plan on having it recovered soon, hopefully in leather, and I will have them add extra padding. The interior is my next round of upgrades. I do hate the perforated, vynal seat I have. Just because it is hard to get it clean, you can't just wipe it. I am getting ready to road trip the truck up to NC for 2 weeks of permissive TDY, it is going to be a 9 hour ride so we will see how it goes. Gotta love the loopholes and special programs out there. 12 days of leave without charging a day, paid vacation. -
Rust Converter paint, does it work?
wolfpackjeeper replied to Luvtohunt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
reasonably well if you follow the instructions and do a lot of prep work. If you just spray it on a junk rusted part it will not magically make it better though. -
What ford wheels fit a comanche and Opinion
wolfpackjeeper replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do mustangs not have different offsets for the front and rear, and do the stang offsets fit on our trucks?? I believe Gradon on NAXJA had a set of mustang wheels on his. Stock they are the same offset. Aftermarket a lot f people g with different offset wheels. -

depending on what look you are going for, mustang wheels fit and look pretty good. I would love to have a set of 18" Cobra 5 spokes for my truck -
what tailgate latches work for the comanche?
wolfpackjeeper replied to brdhntr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
1st gen s10 latecs will work. I want to see about trimmin the tailgate a bit to make a later model s10 or jeep hatch handle fit so it would have a lock. -
This will piss you off or you will like. you make the choice
wolfpackjeeper replied to icurunnin's topic in The Pub
I would like some gunmetal 20's or 22's for my build. but it will need a bigger rotor and caliper setup to look better. with some body work and a drop yours will look nice. -
advance sells them in packs of 20, not too bad price wise.

Bench Seat Seat Cover
wolfpackjeeper replied to SchneiderFishing's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
wet okole makes the cutom covers, and yes, they are stupid expensive. I am just going to bite it and have mine recovered eventually. I hate the half perforated seat as it is a pain to clean, probably have it done in a smooth leather whenever I get around to it. -
same tranny. The a340 is just a small variation of the aw4, I think it is different trans computers that differentiate them. And I actually cut mine at the hard line and bought loose tranny hose from their to the radiator. It was easier. And my quick connect was broken.

the other free sites I am on you have to have 30 posts minimum before you can sell stuff in the for sale forums. Post Whoring does not count, and even after 30 it is the Mods and Admins discretion as to if you are sincere or not.

I would say 500 or so, he could have less but would have had to gear the heck out of it. I was told it takes 4oo to lift the front wheels, and 500 to really get them up there.

I rode in one of the hard seats offroad once, will not do it again.
-
and the 16.5" pretty much makes your best method of running them converting to hummer beadlocks.
-
I know people who run them because they are big and can be had cheap/plus are easy to retread. But to be honest I have never heard anything good about them other than big and cheep. They ride like crap and are a very hard rubber compound. Peterson's did a test a while back on all the larger tire brands and they threw a few of the military tires in as well. None of them did well. They are designed for durability in a combat zone first, performance second, and I am not sure that comfort even makes the list.

depends on what type of quality you are looking for... look up hunsaker racing and their seats can be had cheap mastercraft seats cost more per seat then most other per pair. personally I want a set of Corbau Baja SS seats

4.0 rebuild kits which one
wolfpackjeeper replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the stroker should only cost you about $200 over any other rebuild. The only part that is different are the crank and rods. The kits for strokers are more expensive because people do not know any better. You can piece it together much cheaper. A crank and rods from a running 4.2L, have them polished and such if you want. Everything else is stock 4.0L stuff. WHen I priced it out before I did mine the only difference was where I bought a crank and rods. Of course, this was assuming that when you said rebuild you also meant bearings and piston rings. If not and you are just doing gaskets then just get a master gasket kit from advance auto. edit, even if you are doing a full rebuild most of the Kits are kinda on the expensive side versus buying what you need individually. -

yea, the 2JZ is a great motor, however it is not a beast without the turbo, nor is it a 2.5L making 300HP was my point. My buddy has one pushing 500HP, he has converted it to a single, big-mama-jama turbo. It is Nasty. someone was arguing about the replacement for displacement. There remains none. All the little import motors that rate as higher HP motors are using some cool ways to get there, but applied to a larger displacement motor the same interval gains are seen. I know a guy building a NA 552ci motor for his camaro, it is considered a tame build since he is only estimating 650HP... he could break 1000HP easily, but it is not in his goals for the car. edit: I want to see a turboshaft MJ. I think you could set the record for the fasted Jeep out on the salt flats with that one...

my buddy prefers fat chicks every once in a while, said since they do not know when they will get it again they work a lot harder for it...

I just need an inch

thats what she said wait, what? -
I was wondering more off of AMC's reputation of "ANY MOTOR COMPANY" cause there for a while you never really know what you were gonna get.
-
The 2JZ-GTE engine does make 320hp (at least the version for the US market, others are "only" 280)> But it's not a 4 banger. It's a twin turbo 3.0 liter inline 6. I'm pretty sure that's at the crank. Put that in an older rwd Corolla, add a wide body kit and you got yourself a nice drift car. yea, I know about the 2Jz, sweet motor and will swap into an XJ/MJ easily... the turbos don't hurt at all

from that height I would a 1/2 meter square block of low density foam rubber. Should easily survive it.

If you can do all the work yourself a total regear may not cost that much, assuming that you use cheap genuwhine gears and cheap bearings. And that you do not have to replace a carrier, which you probably will. I have 33's on my cherokee, before the stroker I was saving for a gear swap. Then I popped the motor. SO I took the money and built a stroker. I am actually pretty happy with 3.55's and the torque band of the motor. Granted I will be switching to 4.10's, but I have decided against the 4.56's I was considering before the motor swap. You can build a stroker for $1.8k easily. I did. If you are doing all the assembly it comes out fine. The only thing I reused was my stock cam. Even had a 3angle done on the head and added a 00+ manifold.
