The wife and I have to keep the kids away who wanted to touch and pick him up. Just kinda shooed him into the woods near the lake We figured it was a good idea considering these 3 facts: 1) Snapping turtles do not bite things, they remove them 2) When they bite, snapping turtles do not let go 3) His neck is long enough and flexible enough to bite his own @$$

no real updates. Got some new tires and an alignment today. Nothing special, just some 205/75/r15's. They ride much smoother and turning is a lot easier. I am going to try to get the truck lowered and the shocks on this coming week sometime, I also think I might paint the centers of my 10 holes gloss black. I will be redoing the flares soon as well. I also got a fairly neat picture by the flightline on the way around the base today. and yes, that is my spare on the back, I picked up a nail and just left the spair on till I got my new tires.

yea, a correctly functioning map system is pretty crucial to the jeep running well at all, closed or open

yea, I would look for a bone stock something. If the options are there such as good ac, pw, pdl, go for it. But i would rather start with a blank slate as far as the mods are concerned. I bought a bone stock comanche. I changed out tune up stuff, changed rear brakes, did a u-joint at the yoke, and am getting new tires today. Now that I know I have a solid platform, I am gonna start my build plans.

sweet, I was going to lower it a bit more, but right no walmart has goodyear AT's for $55 each, and I have needed new tires since I got the truck, but the deal is only one 1 tire size. 235/75/r15, not quite what I wanted, but since I am commuting 320 miles a week back and forth, I need new tires something quick. So at least I can get the nicer riding shocks I have on there.

Will the front shocks from a 2000 XJ fit a MJ. I know that they are too short for the back, but I could not remember onthe front. I do not do any offroading in this truck, so flex is not an issue. I am going to lower it a tad, about an inch and a half or so, but could not remember how much shorter the shocks are.

I don't lock my doors. Unless I am in a really scary place. Granted I also live and work on base. But it also keeps the windows from getting broken by myself or theives. I do lock the rear hatch on my XJ, but I have built a compartment that is bolted to the floor, and comes up to the level of the back of the seat and the windows, only way in is with a key, from the back. I am sure with a sledge, axe, and sawzall you could get in without the key, but it would take a hot minute. I do not lock the front doors. before I went to this method I did have to pry the lock off a vent window once.

I paid $1500 for my 89, 4cyl, 4spd, 2wd. But, it has a great looking interior(seats and dash, floor is rubber), and the paint and exterior is in great shape as well. It ran well atnd is pretty good to go. The only thing I have had to change is a starter and a U-joint. It will need tires soon, but I have had it for a few months. price is relative. The dealer is not going to sell it for less than he thinks he can get at auction or a scrap yard. You can probably do better for that price, I would have walked past it if I saw one like it in my area when I was looking. Keep looking, I looked for several months before I settled on mine

on all the injectors in jeeps I have worked on the uppers and lowers were the same... granted I have not messed with renix injectors recently. The uppers are a lot harder to seat though

I am not sure that there is a kit for that. I know rockrawler has a bolt in coil kit out for the rear of an XJ, but I don't think it would be cheap, or do quite what you want.

ram air is inneffective at speeds of less than about 250mph. It works on the principle of your car compressing the air in front of it, forcing it into the intake. at slow speeds, the excess air will "spill" around the edges of your intake. "ram air" on pontiacs is a marketing term. Air will not compress on itself until it cannot hear it coming, meaning approaching the speed of sound. THe scoops do make for pretty good cold air entrance points though

the part of town that the base is in is fairly run down. Should have specified a bit more. I have had to stop right outside of base for some stuff a few times, just did not seem like the best part of town, just the general vibe I got. I don't get nervous very easily, but I was pretty sketched out in those areas. Maxwell is also the only base I have been to out of the 6 or so recently that actually scan your ID card instead of just looking, I read something into that, but I could be wrong. Sorry if I tweeked you hornbrod, didnt mean to offend if you are from the area. back on topic: hopefully when I head back up that way for class on monday I will have a set of xj shackles as well to drop the rear with.

Yea, I am hoping to ind a good set of blocks local. The other plus is that I have a nice set of sensa-tracs for an XJ, a buddy gave them to me after using them for about 1k miles. With the drop they should fit about right. Have to work on the rears to get them to fit. I had it up on a lift at the hobby shop today, rear joint is trash, I got to run and get a ujoint tomorrow. I also found the sources of a couple of squeaks on the drive up too, so Ill grab some rubber paper to make the new bushings to go under the dash. Then I will just need some new window sashes the the interior should sound worlds better. you got to love a last minute TDY. Lets you find all the stuff that you should have done BEFORE any major Road trip, AFTER you are already there. At least they gave me about 18hrs notice, and the base I am at now has a nicer hobby shop.

I usually have to be pretty deliberate to make them work on NAXJA, which is why I like them, not really like a popup. Granted There are a lot more noobs that need to STFU over there, so I kind use it as a filter
