  1. Great build. I didn't know I needed a trailer until I started watching your build and then also came across this on naxja, now it is all I can think about. First is trying to find a military style trailer in my area in my price range, or what has a bed with the angled top lip to make into a small trailer. Also like this one.
  2. You have alot of work ahead of you, and I hand it too you for that. But think of everything you will have learned when it is all said and done. I can't get myself to go out in a decent shop and work on my truck, my hats off to you :dunno: .
  3. How about the length from a D35 to an 8.8, will the current driveshaft bolt up to the 8.8?

  7. This is Otto he came to work with me this morning, maybe some real work will get done. He is 4 and is a German sheppard, australian sheppard mix. Incredibly smart. If he could talk, he would, can bark the equiv to 1, 2, 3 in spanish (don't know german) Has to go everywhere, and still has waaay to much energy. Learns just about any trick in a couple tries, and has one ear that sticks up and the other stays down :dunno: . When he was a pup we tried tapping his ear to make it stay up, but he looked so pathetic we couldn't do it. Now he is recognized everywhere he goes because of it.
  8. Buy a full size truck. Just because you can pull something doesn't mean you should. Older single cab trucks are going for dirt because everybody wants four doors. You have a great looking MJ but I would think that trailer if loaded wanted to swerve left or right you would be along for the ride. I guess I have nothing helpful as far as the gearing goes, My truck currently has 3.73 gears but also has a V8. It has tons of get up and go on the road, but am going to regear to something in the 4's when/if I find a Dana 44
  9. Looks mostly cosmetic, should buff out
  10. Has anybody tried this on here? I use PB blaster but I might give this a shot. Watching the PB blaster climb up bolt threads is pretty cool if nothing else. "This information comes from another group but thought it was worth putting up here as well. Machinist's Workshop magazine tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts. They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment. The results are as follows; Penetrating oil..... Average load None ............ ......516 pounds WD-40 ............ ....238 pounds PB Blaster ............ 214 pounds Liquid Wrench ..... 127 pounds Kano Kroil ............ 106 pounds ATF-Acetone mix....53 pounds The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50-50 automatic transmission fluid and aceton
  11. Sorry for your loss. It is never easy.
  12. We have a 5 or 6 burner Kenmore, have had it probably 5 years now and use it just about everyday even in the winter. It has been a good grill. It got covered up for the first few months maybe, but since then it has stood the elements. We are now looking at maybe getting a nice sized smoker.
  13. There are low rider rims and tires on it in one of the pictures. If you slide your mouse off and and on the small thumbnail picture at the end on the top row of thumbnails, the jeep goes up and down :brows: .
  14. Yeah i went with the duplicolor, if for no other reason that it dries so fast. I think I got this thing delivered then quickly cleaned up a few areas with a grinder and had it painted and on in an hour. I have next to no patience. My roll bar has the duplicolor truck bed coating on it, and I carry a can of the paint and when it gets scratched i just throw down another layer. Keep it simple. The steering stabilizer(s) were added with some other updates after I had a death wobble incident at highway speed. Now I leave it on mainly out of fear. If I am doing any heavy wheeling it comes off pretty easy.

  16. Please read this and follow the "Just click here" at the bottom to email your representative. This involves a politician from New York trying to close Moab to ORV's, horse back riding and bicyclists  . I for one have not been able to go to Moab yet and am really looking forward to it  . http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-6807-OffRoading-Examiner~y2009m9d30-Will-Moab-close
  17. Is there anywhere that provides a good list of the different companies that have been developed that sell offroad and builder parts for jeeps(especially xj/mj). If there isn't could one be created and stickyed?
  18. Really? That would be the best news I have heard in awhile. I plan on adding another main leaf to help level the jeep out anyway. Can you send me a picture sometime of how long you left the added leaf in comparison to the existing leafs.
  19. What is the best or most common fix for axle wrap. I have read alot and heard alot but thought i would tap the larger source for options or things to stay away from. I attached one article I found. http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/susp/axlewrap/
  20. Came out pretty good . Now who wants to give me a winch. :brows: :brows: Before Shot: After Shot:
  21. Brown van santa is bringing me my new winch bumper hopefully tomorrow morning. I was curious to what the suggested paint or covering is. I have access to a place that powder coats, but then if it scratches off I have issues right? My other choice is the duplicolor or whatever brand o'reillys sells truck bed coating in a spray can. This is what I sprayed my rollbar with and I like the texture and look. Plus this would allow me to make quick touchups when it gets scratched :dunno: . Other question is on bare metal do you recommend some sort of metal etching primer or just basic automotive primer? I have painted things for years without any real consideration to it, but was curious what was the best route since it will be abused and tested.
  22. I went ahead and installed an aussie locker in the rear 35 against my and others better judgment. I want a dana 44 but can't find one in my area. Anyway, the aussie is by no means a drop in installation at least not on mine. Aussie claims with it's larger size that some 35s will accept the locker as is and some need clearancing.......mine needed clearancing, go figure  . Anyway after some careful metal shaving, got it too fit within tolerances. Spent most of my time cleaning up the shavings that made it past my oiled up rags. Anyway got it installed and took it out for a test drive and was impressed. I will enjoy it while it lasts, something about being able to smoke both tires and leave a set of black marks down the road brings a smile to my face . Not to mention hitting the gas and swinging the rear end around in the grass.
  23. Is there someone that makes the rear bumper bracket for a DIY bumper. What I had in mind is a basic 2x6 for the most part, but I would like the brackets to have D-ring brackets as part of the frame bracket, then I could pass it through the 2x6 if that makes sense?
  24. I will be anxiously watching this thread, especially when it gets to the cooling system. It is fall here so I get to stop throwing money at different attempts to keep my V8 cool, and let nature help me out.
  25. People typing on computers are funny. In the big scheme of things this post regarding the other post is the problem. I offer a challenge regarding both of these posts, type out everything you wish everyone else to know about your opinion, read through it, and make sure you are satisfied with its purpose, then click the back button on your browser and move on to something else.
