    Snow report

    0', 52 degree F here.
  2. I come across them on a fairly regular basis, but then again I hit the junkyards frequently and a large number of yards as well - increases chances of finding them. Only come across one with a D44.

    Saw two MJs

I usually see a couple a day, but then again there's a half dozen that live in my nieghborhood. Not real uncommon here.
  4. It cost you $3700 to fix the car - holy carp, what was wrong with it that cost so much?

    Checking in

Factory hidden wench? I'm gonna need to see a picture of that.
  6. Your gonna love this:
  7. I do this every year:
  8. Some companies do not do buybacks. For valuation you can simply pick a bunch of them for sale off of craigslist that verifies your claim of value. Make sure that she knows you want to do the buy-back. There have been a half dozen wrecked CRD's that the owners posted about on the forums, there was only one guy who was actually willing to follow through with the buy back.
  9. worst case scenario is that you have to call them up and b*@$£ at them. Chances are that you will be mostly running Jeeps so its like "ya, I want to buy a Jeep, so I am running lots of VINs, isn't this what its for?" Happened to me years ago with carfax, and others since its happened.
  10. have you considered a t/r?
  11. Thank you. I'm pretty stoked to now own a vehicle that actually came with those wheels from the factory. Also, do you have any idea what the P/N is on the center caps for those wheels? As you can see, I'm missing one :D Ya I'm missing a couple myself, I don't know the part number(which is mostly desired for the matching color) but they are the same caps as are used on the eccos, grizzly's, icons etc. Even KJ centercaps will work.
  12. Those are both mine. My buddy and I drove my XJ down and he drove it back. Ah well, you have good taste in wheels sir.
  13. Good plan, and your buddy has good taste in wheels.
  14. yes, keyless is even better...had it on my work vans, never got around to getting the remote programmed on the '97 that I sold, my '87 will have it with the '99 conversion finished, though... I had keyless entry, untill I let my mother borrow my Jeep and she lost the primary set of keys. I'm pretty sure she managed to throw them out in the trash.
  15. I live in Northern Colorado - Fort Collins, we have 8 breweries here in town, so its a good place to be. Plus it's a college town so there are lots of attractive members of the female persuasion. Denver area is larger and you will find more job opportunities than you will further south.

    bfg a/t or bfg m/t

M/T's suck in snow, Ice, wet/rain, and dry pavement. They do good in mud though, so if mud is your thing go for it. Seriously though, M/T use large lugs that can clear mud out easily, those large lugs can't grip the road very well, plus with the large surface area of the lugs there is a large amount of "clapping" that occurs per lug, making them very noisy.
  17. For as plentiful as XJ D30's are you might as well wait to find one thats right. If the gears don't match your rear, or it doesn't have gears that are worth making your rear match, and that its low pinion, I would say its probably not worth picking up. it could have 3.55 or 3.73 in that housing, 3.55 is the most common in XJs, so it might match your rear. If it has 3.73, then you would need to regear your rear to match it(probably using ZJ d35 gears).
  18. Yup. My last flip jeep was a manual door lock and manual window XJ. Soooo nice just to hit the "lock" button when you get home, and not go around to all the doors and check. Keyless entry is nice too.
  19. LOL. It's not TOO bad of a job, I made lots more work for myself in moving it over a few feet. I could have had it done in easily half the time if I had been leaving it in the same place.
  20. I forgot about option d), but i'd still be left with a vehicle that barely runs, might get me back and forth to work (on a good day) and I don't think I'd get 2 kid's car seats on a bench (which is what I had when it started). 5 year olds need carseats these days? Don't tell me they require seat belts too.

    Who's thirsty?

If it wasn't taken with my camera phone I think I would agree with you.
  22. One away? Why'd you stop? I was 16 when I got mine, my brother and I shared a ceremony. It got real weird for me around 8th grade. We had a couple of guys, and one in particular, that wanted to run it like a pseudo-militaristic organization. Got to the point where interacting with those guys and some of the parents was not fun. Basically those guys were WAY too serious and sucked the fun out of it. I can only imagine what a joyless, annoying(to other people around them) existence they live now. Those guys were destined for two things - being cannon fodder, or an a$$hole law enforcement officer(not saying all LEO's are that way). Plus I just kinda rolled through the ranks like "why not" I was the first guy out of all of my friends that joined the troop from cub scouts to get any rank other than tenderfoot, and then when they started to move onto second class scout I moved up to first etc. Just kinda stayed ahead of the curve and went for it. Served as quartermaster for all our crap for a year or two also. It was fun for awhile, but me and militaristic higher-ups don't mix well, I'm WAY too egalitarian for that.

    Who's thirsty?

I know I am: Just a picture I took the other day at New Belgium brewery, thought it was nice so I would share.
  24. For me, a new hot water heater! Noticed some water down in the basement about 3 days ago, moved some dirty laundry that was on the floor that had soaked up a bunch of water, also saw that the baseboard was wet all back up to the wall behind the washer. Based on what was wet and its proximity to the washer and the washer water supply and drain I suspected that was where it came from. So I put the fan on it and turned on the dryer to dry it out(drier vents into the laundry room so its a handy way to help dry it out when needed). Watched it for a day or two and noticed it was mostly dry now so I turned the fan off and left it at my not being able to figure out where it came from. Took another look at it last night and noticed new water along the floor. Turned back on the fan and drier and did a load of clothes hoping to figure out where it was leaking from. Though it might be a leaky discharge hose - nope, maybe the overflow vent on the back of the washer - nope. Called it a night since it was late. This morning I came to the realization that it was my old water heater. The old one was installed back in early '94, I replaced the heater elements in early 08, and I knew it was old even when I moved into my house in early 2006. I guess 16 years, almost 17, is not a bad run for a water heater. I guess I'm lucky in that it started to leak a little and I caught it before it just burst in my basement. While I was replacing it I moved it over, this makes more sense because now I can use the hot and cold water taps that are plumbed for a washtub. Before there was no room for a washtub and for the washer door to open. All said and done it could have been a lot worse and cost a lot more. It worked out nice because I had a helper, my dad was in town today(back from california) he and I were gonna do some wrenching on my latest Jeep today but I decided it was more important to try and figure out where this water was coming from first, good thing we did. Most of the rust coloring was from the previous one, most of that is not new rust leakage.
