  1. I’ve never heard of them. Quality stuff?
  2. Agreed, nice truck with Leer factory topper.
  3. Appreciate the kudos -- I'm all for sanding by hand. Takes longer but more controlled results. As the body gets ship-shape I've also been working on the seats in the wee-hours. As many of you are familiar, these old AMC-era seats are a chore to take the seat skins off. Disassembly is far from fun -- removing the roll pins that holds the little tumble knob on takes an insane amount of patience so not to do damage the knob. The skins did put up a good fight but I finally got them off. There are 2 small rubber 'bumpers' mounted on the bottom of the topside of the seatback on 2-dr XJ/ MJ seats. These were either completely gone or mostly flat. Though I do have NOS of these for my '89 MJ project, they were no longer available anywhere so I've source some similar hardware store replacements. I cleaned, degreased, sanded and then painted (satin black) the seat frames. Cushions and side bolsters have been gone through and replaced accordingly. For the most part, the driver's seat bottom was mush and the outside facing bolsters both driver and passenger side needed replacing. Tomorrow morning the NOS '87 vintage upholstery (XJ & YJ variants) will be brought to the upholstery shop and stitched together as the crude sketch/colored notes I provided. XJ Limited style stitching, but with matching black piping (a la Laredo style seats). I prefer this vintage Jeep to have piping on the seats -- it just looks right.
  4. Labor of love continues...Been spending most of my spare time/ weekends over the past 2 weeks getting the MJ's body perfect for paint. And was surprised to find even NOS doors and hood have dents!
  5. That silver and black trim has been repainted. Sure you guys realize -- and both of those colors are off from factory original colors. Silver should have chrome trim around it as well. Not to offend but they're not worth it. Better off buying an unpolished used set and reproduce similarly yourself. Can get closer to original.

    Bed removal

Nuts and bolts holding the bed are straight forward. The biggest nuisance I had removing all of the the obvious obstacles was the driver's side bedside wiring (for taillights) that are attached to the bottom of the bed in 3-4 different locations.
  7. Lookin’ good. Are you putting a CJ style fuel recess area on the bed?
  8. Au naturale
  9. I bought a tilt, manual trans steering column off eBay years back as my MJ didn't come with a tilt column. Finally getting around to rebuilding it and replacing as much of the plastic internals as possible since the current hazard switch didn't work (turns out inside there were broken pieces), in addition to a new ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch. Also putting new outside upper and lower shells on, as well as a Steadfast steering column security collar (these are no longer available, but I had purchased two of them back in 2001) for theft prevention. Also been cleaning up various components as I have time -- today's smaller project was replacing the shaggy filthy door lock & release rod sleeves with some heavy duty fuel injector wiring sheath from Waytek Wiring.
  10. I always take a deep breath before cutting on something NOS...so with a dremel/ cutting wheel and drill bit I went to town on a factory fresh bumper. With this I'll be running a hawse fairlead and Maximus winch hook anchor (powder coated black), followed by stock location front bumper and my hidden winch set up. Soon enough I'll be taking this, the rear step/ frame brackets, fuel skid, factory hitch, and a number of goodies to the powder-coater so all is the same color black.
  11. You are correct!
  12. I was wrong -- miscounted the horizontal lines. They're Laredo (with one of them trimmed down). The Mopar accessory strip has 8 horizontal lines but is the same with as Laredo style (the horizontal lines are narrower on the Mopar accessory strip.)
  13. I think those are the Mopar Accessory MJ side moldings. Close to laredo
  14. I haven't purchased from them, but they seem to sell new splash shields for the 4.0L https://www.detroitmuscletechnologies.com/jeep-xj-94-01-cherokee-lower-alternator-radiator-splash-shield-10-clips/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxtaBob-C7AIV-yCtBh1O6Ag7EAYYASABEgJW-PD_BwE
  15. Correct.
  16. I had originally purchased Clayton, but it wasn't done as well as the Barnes kit.
  17. Getting there on the instrument cluster project -- for roll bar lighting indicator on/off. I cut to the necessary size an XJ fog/ defroster switch pod. The plan is to plastic weld this to the backside of the gauge cluster overlay back side. As mentioned before, I will need to round out the speedometer gauge at the bottom so this little light-pod triangle fits. Also was able to drill out a properly centered hole in the gauge cluster hole for this indicator light. Paint to come. Finally, out of harms way I drilled a hole in the instrument cluster main body to fit the factory indicator light wiring connector through.
  18. Yep, thanks. I understand how it can be done. I just like things OEM or as close to OEM whenever possible. Just was informing other crazies like me on the forum.
  19. Back in 2017 I had a local-ish custom auto glass shop build me three Comanche specific lightly tinted tempered solid across the back of cab glass for my trucks. First time test-fitting with factory glass seal. Perfect fit. Going through everything that needs to be test-fit prior to paint.

    SWB Roll Bar

I have one up for sale. Shipping would be fun.
  21. The factory tabbed track bar nut setup has been discontinued and no longer available anywhere ... Dealers say it is and then sends you a plain old nut. I didn't have a current need for one, but wanted to find a suitable new replacement. I'm not a fan of re-using suspension grade hardware whether mine or wrecking yard sourced. I came across Barnes 4WD -- who sells a Track Bar Kit that works with the TJ/XJ/ZJ. Very nicely made. The only upgrade/ change I'd make is using a flange bolt (10.9). Their bolt is the proper 10.9 grade, but I prefer not to deal with a separate washer.
  22. I think Delphi are re-badged Airtex brand which aren't the best. I wouldn't mess around with something so critical. I've had great luck with Bosch. (Which is what was used OEM/ factory Jeep.)
  23. Before I tear apart and Powdercoat my chrome power mirror set, checking if anyone has a NOS Driver power mirror 84-96 gen. Dealers have passenger side but no driver. Looking for NOS only. Don’t want aftermarket junk. Thanks!
  24. I’m running 275/60’s on the rear on my 2wd xj. 255/60 in front. BFG T/A’s. It’s on a 15x7 factory 96 zj Laredo rim.
  25. Hot damn...I got it in! What a chore. I decided against installing my recent purchase rollbar as it needed some tweaking to make it close to perfect. It's in great shape, but it's not 100%. The rollbar I have had for my '89 MJ dropped right into place. Seemed like the best way to go.
