  1. is probably needed, haven't torn into it yet, since mine is probably wobbled out. There is movement of the track bar in the bracket. Wanted to see if any unwobbled ones are available before I start.
  2. The hole for the track bar on the bracket on the frame is probably wobbled out. :headpop: Got some sway and I see movement. 87 4x2 MJ. Any fixes other than searching for an unwobbled out used one? If straight shank on track bar, drill and sleeve? Since I will replace track bar also, I see Omix has an adjustable bar and bracket for 2 to 6 inch lifts to fix improper alignment. If anyone has used them, is there enough shortening adjustment on the track bar to work on a stock height rig?
  3. Looking in the cyl the piston looks beat up, there was some metal powder on the spark plug, so I'm a betting the cyl wall is scored also. :( Head, don't think, will be enough. It was a rebuilt engine, so it may be an insert that popped out. I will get it home from Mexico Missouri to Montgomery City MO on monday and tear into it. Thanks!
  4. Think my 2.5 threw a valve seat. :fs1: I MAY need to buy a used engine if the warranty is not honored. Soooooo, since the search engine will not accept 2.5 as a legit word, anyone got a good running 2.5 that will work in my 87? I live about an hour west of St. Louis.
  5. Plain Jane 87 4x2 has Comanche, not COMANCHE.
  6. Congrat's Pete! Hey, talk them into Jeep logo's and blankets and so on all over the nursery room! Influence the kid!
  7. In the past I bought used and a size of engine one up from what I wanted that usually also had a bar one size bigger than I needed, and put the smaller bar on it so the saw would not bog down.
  8. Try http://www.downeyproductsnortheast.com/sst.html As of 6 months ago, they still had MJ soft covers. I've had one for almost 10 years and its still in very good shape.
  9. I have only bought from ebay three times. All good transactions. I won't sell on ebay. I use PayPal for many transactions, but not with deposited funds but direct link to account. No problems so far.
  10. Speaking of reigning in government; when will we get anyone with the courage to start reversing the socialism now in place? Certain people in office establish socialistic laws. People get mad and elect those who will not add socialist laws, but they leave the ones on the books in place. Then, certain people are elected again who add more socialism. People get mad and elect those who will not, but now we have more socialist laws in place than before, but none are reversed. And so, we become more and more socialist. This is the plan of the socialists now in office: the more people they can get to rely on the socialist laws for their food, clothing, and shelter, there will be more people who will vote for those socialists and soon, socialism rules the land. That is where we are headed unless there is a major revolt that demands reversal of socialist laws and refuses to back down unless it is done. As I told a tea party person via email, "if the tea party is not willing to do this, then the tea party is a waste of time." Where will we get enough people to have this courage? Is it maybe in the report that there is a rise in small business owners making a run for congress and senate because they know small business is the backbone of this nation? Maybe.
  11. Like the bumper sticker I saw today: Forget the Tea Party! Pass the Tar and Feathers!
  12. Personally, I have no problem with the cameras. It is not an invasion of privacy. It is recording what you are doing on a public roadway, like a police car with radar and dash cameras, and that recording is ONLY done if you do what is illegal, running a red light which can and does cause an accident, even death. It's not entrapment, for no one is doing something to try and get you do do what is illegal. I was almost T-boned while having a green light by an idiot running a red light because he thought he had the right, and my wife and kids were in the car, and he gave me the finger like I was in the wrong, and there is getting to be more and more of those who think this way. Now, a GPS on your car by sneaking onto your private property because they "think" you might be doing something illegal? "Thought" police, huh? If they "think" you "might" be doing what is illegal, they can monitor you? That can apply to absolutely everyone, especially if you have had a ticket recently for speeding, etc. What was the Tom Cruise movie about arresting someone because they WERE going to commit a crime based on some "people" in a liquid bath?
  13. Yea, always was best time of year. About the only time when you could get some decent weather on the coast! Back years ago (1960's) being also the time, back then at least, when the warmer ocean current started being closer to shore that we could do some surfing without freezing our buns off in the cold Alaskan current close to shore!
  14. Wowzers! Clean machine! Southern Oregon, if not on the coast, rust free makes sense! Where in Oregon? The hills behind with evergreens suggests to me near the Cascades or toward the coast near the coastal range at least. Grew up in Coos Bay myself!
  15. Drove on I-70 in Missouri from exit 175 to exit 208 twice in the past week. Once going the other way was a lifted and roll barred and grill guarded nice black manche. Then, on Saturday, a red one in a farm field, and then in a turn lane after getting off at 208 a white one, and two cars behind it another red one! Both looked like work trucks. Wish I coulda handed out commancheclub cards! :grrrr: Including mine, that is 5 manches in one week within a 30 mile stretch of I - 70! What gives?????? :dunno:
  16. Oh, I mentioned using synthetic to the dealer who sold me my patriot. He said "does the owners manual say you can use synthetic?" My answer, "no". "Don't then", was his answer. So Pete, whatcha say?
  17. If you used a rear end out of the D150 in an 87 'manche with a D35, you undoubtedly would have to change/relocate the spring perches, right? And, what about my backing plates for my drum brakes? Can I use my originals, or would I have to go with the D150 brakes?
  18. Had an 86 cavalier with 2.8. It was injected. Big problem was oil leaks on the front and back of the intake manifold. I was told to take a small punch and create a few "dings" in the manifold to grip the gasket. Never leaked again. But, in the little cavalier (convertible and auto), it would scoot pretty good!
  19. Gotcha! Figgured inlines should be "naturally" balanced, but didn't know about the shaking due to compression differences. Makes sense! Like your recoil illustration!
  20. Hey, welcome! You WILL get addicted! :brows: As most here will tell you the first thing to do is :smart: CHECK YOUR FLOORBOARDS!!!!!! They love to rust out! Keep us posted!
  21. Did they begin internally balancing the 2.5 in later years??? If not, do the later ones "shake, rattle, and roll"??? ;)
  22. Are they available for my 2.5? I can't find.
  23. Got a little place called "Dairy Mart" here in Wellsville Missouri that serves deep fried Mac and Cheese! Good stuff!
  24. My approach is when selling, be totally honest about what you know are the problems, if any, with the car. If buying from a dealer, they should have the ability to check such simple things out. Probably got that Torino running bad anyway and paid very little for it. If they failed to diagnose and fix the problem and wanted to sell it "as is", and you knew the problem, that's the dealers problem. But, if its someone, say a person facing financial struggles but wants to honestly handle them and has a car like that Torino, I would point out the problem, fix it if I could, and let her know if she wants to sell it, here is what its now worth. I may not buy it, but its worth this. Or, it might mean she could keep it and and have the reliable transportation she desperately needs.
  25. In my opinion, keep your MJ as stock as possible. It was built that way, and unless you know it improves reliability, and there are things that can and do do this, question it. My 4 x 2 MJ has 328 thousand on it with a rebuilt 2.5 improved with headers and cam and single in, dual out exhaust, and a stock 4 speed, and it it runs like a champ that passes other cars when they are too slow on the interstate!
