  1. Glad to hear he is doing well! We have a cat I found outside my office on a very cold and snowy february day. Barely heard this tiny meow, looked down from my window and saw a tiny snow covered with leaves frozen to his back kitten huddled behind the AC unit. Went outside and that kitten jumped into my arms. He was skin and bones. Put him in a box with a towel and let him warm up in my office while I went to the store and got some cat food which he inhaled! Saw that he was actually walking on his right front leg elbow, so figured he really hurt his right front leg. We had an old unused garage with no doors but a concrete floor so fixed up some boxes in the back with that towel and he lived and was fed there for a few days until wife and I decided to bring him home. Vet said his one shoulder ball had been cracked, and malnutrition meant the nerve damage because of the crack didn't and now would not fully heal. He still limps so he is declawed and an inside cat mostly. Pavlov moral to the story: now this cat at coming up on 3 loves to sleep in boxes or baskets! Feels safe, I guess, because his rescue started out in boxes!
  2. Might say, from the 1970's and through the 1990's I stayed, through weight lifting, at a good and healthy running weight. I love running, and in the mid 1990's while in my 40's and early 50's, logged some of my fastest times. Got lazy, though, and in my late 50's and now early 60's, gained weight. But, am now paying attention to food intake, loosing weight, and at 62 getting back at my running, and loving it! So also can the cats and dogs that rely on us. feed them right. Give them exercise. Make life fun for them! Make them chase your belt before you put it on, hopefully a belt that gets to become shorter!!!!
  3. Anywho, how is your kitty doing?
  4. IRT the vacuum leak possibility: The intake gasket looked fine. There is a vacuum port on the runners for cyl 3 and 4, but the lines seem ok. I did notice the head gasket was black on the manifold side while not black on the other side, and at cyl 3 the blackest. When I saw that I wondered if the header from Clifford, being a block hugger type, could have generated enough heat to harm - being black maybe burned - the head gasket and cause the leak. Thoughts? BTW, shark, I'm a-askin, how do you know????
  5. Will look. Thanks. Is interesting that the bad spot on the cyl wall is on the intake/exhaust manifold side, so a possibility.
  6. Could the injector itself have leaned out, and only one cyl got hot enough to have damage happen?
  7. ^^^ What he said. The '87 2.5L has ONE injector, in the throttle body. The fuel is injected into the airstream as it enters the intake maniforld. Unless you had something very strange affecting the intake valve, there is no way that one cylinder on a TBI engine can get leaned out. If the intake valve stuck open it would get fuel. make a lot of noise too, but not break a ring. It would have to have remained closed, and that would be a collapsed lifter, but they make a lot of noise too. Maybe put a couple of lifters in that cyl, or a whole new set, just to be on the safe side? Don't want to do that on a 60,000 mile cam, do I?
  8. So let me ask: what could cause, according to the appearance of what's now "attached" to the top of the piston, the compression ring to break and cause a "divit" in the top of the cylinder wall?
  9. No, but at that age have heard of this being the case. Might say they all look well fed :brows: . Did the vet mention a different diet? Think there is food out there for diabetic cats. Funny how we get so attached to those critters, and they us. We had one for almost 18 years we found as a kitten wandering alone. Named him Sammy. He moved with us from Kansas City to Tacoma (2 houses) and then to central Missouri (2 houses) and took it all in stride. He started developing issues about that age, and part of it was weight. We slimmed him down and it helped, but in a couple of years they finally got to be to much for the old guy. I was the one who kept coming up with excuses, but we had to put him down, and while both wife and I teared up at the vet, he just purred like he simply totally trusted us to be doing the right thing. Neat thing is, you found him and he has a happy life! :clapping: Got buddies, too!
  10. 87 MJ 2.5. Ended up with a broken compression ring in cyl 3, and the two broken pieces adhered themselves to the top of the piston. I was told by the looks of the cylinder compared to the others that cyl leaned out on fuel, got too hot, and this happened. Ever heard of that on a Renix fuel system? If so, what could cause it?
  11. tube from exhaust manifold to under the EGR on intake manifold for 87 (Renix) 2.5.
  12. Yea, gearing is the same, but don't 4.0's generally have other than a 35 at the back?
  13. Considering this swap. Got a 87 4x2 with 2.5 and 4speed. Cylinder went lean and busted the compression ring and put a "divit" in the cyl wall. Donor would be 91 4x2 w 4.0 and AW4. I know I would need the wiring, but how much under dash stuff do I need? Of course radiator and all the specific to 4.0 engine compartment stuff. I would need the 4.0 fuel pump, right? What about the front springs? Should swap rear diff also, I suppose. Pedals should be easy enough. Would I need a newer gauge cluster? Yep, exhaust header pipe, etc. Probably simpler: 2.5 has 60,000 on a rebuild so take it in, get it sleeved, slap some fresh bearings in it and drive it!
  14. Maybe it's me, but "search" won't return anything when I have 2.5 or 4.0. Am I doing it wrong? If not, in this jeep site we should be able to have both understood as a "word". What can be done to fix it?
  15. I have Clifford on my 2.5 and have had them on for 60,000 and never had a leak. They make for 4.0 also, but are "pricey". Just noticed when I copied this link, guess they don't make them for the 2.5 any more. But still for the 4.0 http://www.cliffordperformance.net/Merc ... _Code=J258
  16. Buy a grant wheel and put one of these on it! http://www.jegs.com/i/Grant/470/5695/10 ... tId=752175
  17. The one I have in mine now for 60,000 miles, and it did help, is by Delta in Tacoma WA. They are reground. 'course, I have a Clifford header with single in, dual out Flowmaster, and it helps also. http://www.deltacam.com/ For fuel injected 2.5 they have them in stock. Stock Duration is listed as 240. There's is 248. Stock lift is listed as 406 w/190 at 50%. Theirs is 420 with 200 at 50%. I don't know if its the cam or other things but since putting it in I have possibly a slight lope at idle. This, they say, is the most they could do to not affect either Renix or MP injection computers. Don't know price, but 4 years ago it was less than a stock cam from any supplier.
  18. Howse bout flat steel behind painted same color as truck?
  19. What more than stock lift and duration cams have any of you used that work good on a 2.5? Don't want to build a Hi-Pro. Just better breathing/performance w/o a "lope"
  20. Isn't this fix for the bracket on the axle? My problem is the bracket on the frame, not on the axle.
  21. As I said, mine is a street only 4x2 with no lift and has 334,000 miles on the suspension and this is the first trouble I have had. All the tie rod ends are still fine. I don't see anything at Motion Offroad for stock height MJ's. Everything is for lifted rigs. So, tell me, will a bracket and track rod kit made for a 2 to 4 inch lift work on a stock height MJ with p225 70 R tires, which is same diameter as the original factory tire?
  22. yep. Why I mentioned a used one. New not available. Figured since so many here are serious 4 wheelers, and that bracket is the same for 4x2 and 4x4 MJ and XJ, might be a good used one, or someone has a good fix. I wondered about drilling the hole and welding a sleeve IF the stud on the track bar frame end is straight and not beveled. Gonna bet beveled.
  23. As noted, its the bracket on the frame, not on the axle. ;)
  24. Oppps! Sorry! meant the frame bracket! Just edited the subject to indicate that!
