Take a look at an XJ build, have to find the link, they do a race with a 2dr 2wd, its lowered with a turbo 4.0l. I too am making a track setup mj its allready 2wd long bed, also google the old archer brothers trucks, you can either buy offset ball joints, or do some cutting on the tube with an angle finder, measure your camber first so you have a base line on where to go. I build and do track setups for cars, so i thought this would be a fun project. I have scales at work if you would like some numbers, i can weigh mine.

here's my 87 long bed, 4.0, 2wd, auto rusty, free truck, it has been passed between me and my dad for longer then i can remember, just hit 280,000 and i think this truck is going to be a Archers brothers project. looking at a 2wd ax15 doing my own suspension and haveing some fun with it. Also hope to make it my bike hauler, i do some track days with an older bike, thought it would be different. Here is our xj so you don't think I'm against 4wd's, it is getting ready for new springs all the way around and some bigger tires.

well here's some updates, 240,000 miles, swapped out the idiot lights for gauges, had to trim the new fuel gauge since I have a column shift, have a headliner that i need to rehab next, also have a sliding rear window to install, replaced every leaking seal on the motor, resealed the injectors and replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Other then maintenance items this has been a great truck, other then the motor mount that broke yesterday. I am looking at a 3" lift and i see everyone has a opinion on what to buy or how to do it. My control arm bushings are shot, so i figured new bushings up front, adjustable track rod, new coil springs since mine have a ton of miles on them and a spacer. as for the rear i was thinking of doing the spring over axle kit. How much does this lift the truck? also looking for ideas on shocks, I drive 100 miles a day mostly highway and it all ready changes lanes on really rough roads. Its 2WD 4.0 auto with a long bed. Oh one other thing, I need to replace the window wipes on the doors, they are shot and the drivers door glass is scratched to hell from them. oh and yes the large mirrors are original, this is a bare bones truck, no a/c, still had the factory AM radio, does have the D44 locker rear, not sure what gears yet, bench seat and column shift, oh and lets not forget the lovely brown paint I will get some more pics soon

stock 30's on Canyon wheels 2WD hoping for a 3" lift soon..... -
I just did my rear main seal and oil pan, mine is 2WD so it wasn't so bad. Once you get the pan down you have to remove the rear bearing cap, the seal is a pain in the @$$ 2 piece deal. Once you get the bearing cap off you should be able to take a small punch and walk the upper part of the seal around the crank, but DO NOT scratch the crank. They want you to put a small amount of sealer were the 2 parts of the seals meet. I can look it up tomorrow for the specs and were the sealer needs to be, i did mine like 2 months ago... so don't remember the torque or the placement of the sealer. As for the axle.... can't help ya but i will see what they call for and let you know

hey my door seals were leaking and the water went down the kick panel, made it look like the windshield was leaking, also there were a few small screw holes behind the kick panel that would let some water in when i drove in a heavy rain. As for the door make sure they shut flush with the body, my hinges are worn so they didnt well. I tweaked the door with my hand up top and a foot at the bottom, just do it slightly and re check the door fit. A good way to check to see if the seal is tight, put a piece of paper in the door jam and shut the door, it should hold the paper firm. oh and here is my truck in a dark metallic brown.

working on posting pics.... oh one other question, all the comanches i see have little mirrors mounted near the vent window, would someone of added the big ones on my doors or am i missing something?

sorry to carnuck, didn't realize you were talkn about the race trucks, I'm usually up late writing these things..... i got down to Maryland to check the D150 with the slant 6, it has the smaller axle so its of no use i guess.... I'm headn to pick up a headliner this weekend i hope, one piece at a time to redo the interior, also have a 3 spoke wheel to replace the ugly 2 spoke, but i need a new turn signal switch, the left rear brake light works, then does not work, look at a wiring diagram and saw the brake lights run through the turn signal switch so when i slightly hold the right turn on my left brake light works..... go figure also looking for a replacement pillar lights i also see a lot of guys switching to a open cooling system, whats the advantage? most of the euro cars i work on have the closed system, haven't really had problems with them.

this is for the rear, to space out the track of the rear wheels
