  1. Any year WJ - '99 to '04. Willy
  2. The fact that you need ear protection to listen to your stereo is ridiculous. Willy
  3. It will not add any more torque than 4 low. for a bit of extra torque, say when pulling a boat and trailer out of the water, or getting someone unstuck from a ditch or something like that But wouldn't most use 4WD Lo for that stuff...? :???: guess i'm wierd. There are plenty of scenarios where 2 low is helpful - on pavement when you want extra torque, when making a tight turn and you want the extra control of low range, etc. Willy
  4. Please do not come near me. I like having the ability to hear. :fool: Willy
  5. Thanks for the advice! Changing out a t-stat should be simple enough, and if I can get the gauge reading down to where it's supposed to be, and get better mpg as well, sounds like a no-brainer! Before I swapped the cluster, the water temp idiot light wasn't going on, so I'm not too concerned with it reading in the 240-ish range yet. But if installing a 180 t-stat will make the temp drop on the gauge, I'm all for it... Replacing the thermostat is a good idea, but do it with the correct 195* thermostat, not 180*. Willy
  6. still ghey It is gone so we can all move on. Willy
  7. Right click on it and view the image. I couldn't get it to display for me either, but the direct link worked for some reason. :hmm: Willy
  8. I could care less about their age. It is about their inability to perform. They may have been great back in the day, but that is no reason to continue dragging it out. I would have been equally critical if they threw some computerized, lip synching pop bimbo up there...unless of course she had a nice rack. :rotfl2: Willy
  9. Really? Yes, I avoid filling up in Oregon. I don't care for anybody touching my vehicle. Luckily last time I filled up in Oregon the pump attendant at Love's let me pump my own fuel. Maybe he just didn't want to mess with filling up the auxiliary tank. Willy
  10. That Who performance was incredibly amusing, but I'd rather see Janet Jackson's nipple than listen to a bunch of old guys who can't even perform their hits anymore! :rotfl2: I could have gone my whole life without seeing Pete "Pederass" Townshend's gut. Willy
  11. Are you referring to this one? I am not at all a fan of mounting heim joints in single shear. Even less of a fan of mounting two heim joints in single shear with one bolt. There is just way too much leverage on the steering system for me to feel comfortable with that set up. Willy
  12. After several XJs and MJs over the years with the same center console, I was ready for something different. During a trip to the pull a part I started looking through the center consoles of other vehicles and taking measurements. I found an Exploder console that was the right width and looked like it would fit fairly well. The cup holders didn't look half bad either. Here it is installed. I also picked up a rear bumper that wasn't beat up quite as much. Before: After: When I built the exhaust for Deb's MJ I kept the old muffler for this one. I installed it yesterday and it is so much quieter. The camper shell acted like some type of amplifier with just the glass pack. It will be so much nicer to drive now. Plus I have stereo sound now that I figured out what was wrong with the left speaker. :D Willy
  13. Thanks! Very nice. Willy
  14. Did you attach the mount to the coil spring pad? Willy
  15. So that would leave Fox News as the propaganda source for the truth? :rotf: Willy
  16. Rubber or polyurethane bushings. The hard joint should be on the body end, not the axle end. Willy
  17. Willy, while these companies are not everywhere, it's nice to know theres a couple of the out there...... My father only buys from Hess unless he is out of town and can't find one. Do you really believe the propaganda they spit out? As whowey found, none of these companies are what they want you to think they are. Willy
  18. you wouldnt happen to mean 272nd would you? my in-laws live right there.... No, I was referring to James/240th St going up the east hill. Are you referring to 272nd going up the west hill? I don't think I've actually been up that road. I've been the other way where it turns into 277th going up the east hill. Willy
  19. Did you also know that we get a lot of oil from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other mideast countries that don't care much for us? Halliburton is also in the oil business. We all know what a great company they are. :rotfl2: Pretty much anybody we buy oil from is trying to screw us. If you are basing your gas purchase upon the morality of the company, you have nowhere to go. Time to start walking everywhere. Willy
  20. SVO = straight vegetable oil I am confused by your terminology. What do gas emissions have to do with these tests? All I see are diesel and SVO tests, not gas. :hmm: Willy
  21. :agree: Have you looked at their web site? They have everything you need without buying the XJ kit. Get the long arms and add the track bar and other miscellaneous parts and you have the front half of the kit. Willy
  22. If the bolt holes don't line up you need to discuss that with the builder of the bumper. Creating the proper tie in brackets should be simple for any halfway competent bumper builder. Mine are just made from 6"x1/4" steel with holes drilled in the proper places. The bolts on the left are 1/2" grade 8. The next is metric that uses the captured nut within the uniframe - I think it is M10 grade 8.8. The next three are the steering box bolts - I think they are 7/16" and are grade 8. I think I was able to get a 3/4" bolt in the rear hole and it is also grade 8. Willy
  23. there are rubber bushings at all frame ends... That is not going to relieve the binding. You need them at the axle end. Willy
  24. It doesn't matter how thick the steel is in the brackets. They are only attached to sheet metal! You need to spread the load out as much as possible. Like this: Willy
  25. I finally found some time to work on this one. I replaced the speedometer quill. Now the speedometer has continued to work consistently for the last couple of short trips. :clapping: At some point all of the bump stops were removed and the rear was loaded down enough that the u-bolts left dents in the uniframe. One of the rear passenger side bump stop bolts was broken off during removal. I drilled out the old bolt and installed a set of rear MJ bump stops I picked up at the junk yard. I also picked up the front bump stops but didn't notice that the bump stop cups were also missing. I'll need to get a couple of those. Replaced the bushings in the windshield wiper arms. Now the wipers don't seem to hit the windshield frame, but I'll know if that really fixed it when I get it out on the road in a descent storm. Replaced the front pads and calipers. Drove it around the block and the brakes still SUCK. But, at least they don't seem to pull to the side anymore. Next up will be a WJ booster and master cylinder. I also picked up an Exploder center console that I think is going to work out pretty well. I'll have pics of that when I get to a point worth showing. Willy
