Just my two (completely unsolicited) bits. I wish people understood that "lots of work" does not mean, replacing worn parts to keep it road worthy. I interpret lots of work to mean; it's road worthy and by the way, here is the list of things I've done to it beyond regular maintentance.

There's one in every bunch. Now there's two! So literal.

VIN 1JTHS6416JT171773 As it sits, it's a $1200-1500 truck and that's before nit-picking while you're standing next to it. It's got almost 230K miles on a little 4 banger.

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to state, essentially, who would actually know what model year it is? Unless the plot of the movie is about cars/trucks, it's unlikely anyone would even mention it wasn't a 1987 truck. Except a CC member. It would be great to see your truck get some exposure, so keep us posted!

I find that amusing. The last time I was looking for an XJ, I saw two or three really nice ones listed in Puyallup. Over the past decade I've seen several very nice MJ's in that area too. Of course, I'm some 3300 miles away. Go figure. Must just be timing? I know I always find the one I'm looking for, right after I bought the one I have.

There's Pride of Ownership! That's a great looking truck and clearly you do treat it like a member of the family.

A mere flesh wound

@Jesse J... I went the other way, black to chrome. I have some parts, but shipping might be cost prohibitive.

@Jesse J's recent "wanted" post inspired me to post my black to chrome evolution ... pieced it together as I got stuff. Yeah, I know the grill is upside down, but I bought it that way. Insert and headlight doors, and then VVVVVVVVV chrome bumper! Couldn't find the top chrome strip in good shape, so I swapped the entire chrome assembly for a 1996 XJ set-up. It's 3 pieces. Moved her over one to the right when I sold my '90 long box. Some a-hole stole my vanity plate, so it's just a regular number plate now.

Gas Monkey Cylinder or Semi-auto

One could knock out the dents and slather it with bondo. It's going to be in a climate controlled area, so who cares how much filler ya pack in there!
