With the track bar frame end disconnected and adjusted, you can have a helper turn the steering wheel to get the now adjusted track bar lined up with the mount. You may also have to adjust the adjusting sleeve on the drag link to recenter your steering wheel after you're done.

In short: not possible. The problem is not the design of the system, the problem is the parts. The sensors are too delicate, and the connections too prone to oxidation.

SOA rear with 4.5" up front will give you more rake than your truck is now. Most people who go SOA lift the front 6.5" to match it.
-
Did you ever check the front axle ratio yet? Not from the tag, but off the ring gear?

I bought a Kawasaki 21.6V cordless drill for $50 at Sam's club last year. Worked for about 3 hours before the speed control burned up. I threw it in the trash.

I have a set of full 3" leaf packs from MO (I believe they are the same as the Hell Creek ones) you can have for $100 plus shipping. They are around $300 new. They've been used for about 6 months, and then I decided to go higher.

You may not have to count the teeth. The ring gear should have the number of teeth on both the ring gear and the pinion gear stamped on the outside. That is as fool proof as counting teeth.

Stealership price.

:hijack: Sorry for starting something that didn't need started and was off topic to begin with. In light of recent experiences I needed an outlet for my frustrations and chose this thread. Please accept my apologies, and let's get back to the original topic.

All 95 and 96 Cherokees have the front flairs that are wider at the front.

In my opinion, the OEM ones are best, but for $280

Maybe it's because I grew up in the greatest country in the world, and still live here, but I found that somewhat insulting. Tho I'm guessing you probably didn't mean it to be. :dunno: I have a job, that pays my bills, so anything I do beyond that, I either do it for free, or I don't do it. Not all Americans are greedy, and not all greedy people are Americans. Edited out after thinking more about this reply and realized I was more venting about recent experiences than overall impression, and in the process forgot about all the other people I have met who are always willing to help out someone in need. But still, accept my apologies for my original reply, as well as the original post if you feel insulted by it. I will leave the original post stand, although I could have probably worded it a lot better., or at least kept my big mouth shut :fool:

Maybe it's because I'm a foreigner and didn't grow up in capitalistic America (although I live here now), but I would never even think of charging someone for helping them out. I like to help people out for no other reason than they need help. If I wanted to be paid for it I would have become a tow truck operator.

i know this is an MJ club...
mvusse replied to boardmanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I already replied on two other forums so I won't repeat myself here, but before others chime in with their opinion, note he has the NP249 transfer case (Quadratrac). Keep in mind how this case works before posting. I also believe, but am not certain that Quadratrac includes front and rear limited slip. -
I was about to say that engine couldn't be from the truck as the 4.0 was not offered until 87, but then it turned out to be an 88. Typo on transmission? Ax-5 does not bolt to a 4.0. Physically impossible. But an AX-15 does, even though an 88 should have the Peugot.

The one that failed was a 1 year and two week old Timken unit. I usually buy Timken to help out the local economy (they are based not 15 miles from here), but after that, and a coworker with a ZJ having gotten two bad Timken bearings in a row at Autozone, I have lost my faith in them. The driver side OEM one is still doing fine after 23 years.

My MJ front suspension and sits 6.25" higher than stock adjustable short arms with shocks meant for a compact car. It rides like a Cadillac. My XJ front suspension is stock with Skyjacker 7000 series shocks and it rides like a 3/4 ton pickup truck.

I don't know of any shackles that will give an MJ 2" of lift as the stock shackles are fairly long to begin with, and the axle is mounted forward of the center of the springs. Most common lift shackles are Chevy drop shackles. They supposedly drop a Chevy 2", they supposedly lift a Cherokee about 2", but only lift a Comanche about 0.75" to 1". They are what I am running. And the comment I've had from a board member who noticed my shackles in a picture was "Holy long shackles, Batman!"

Did you get your tires rebalanced yet?
-
On the lwb the shocks mount in front of the axle, swb the shocks mount behind, and Cherokees are 1 shock in front, 1 shock behind.

I know multiple people running Treadwright 31s. Not one of them has had any issues.

The 89 with broken transfer case, or the 92?

4.5" front lift springs with 1.75" spacers and lots of cutting on the fenders. SOA with 2" lift springs (re-arched stock? They look like stock, but are only 1" less than 3" lift springs) and chevy drop shackles, tiny bit of trimming on rear flairs. All 4 corners are limited by shock travel. I do need to bump stop the front. This set up works well with 33x12.50s, but with the 35s I can't steer when one is fully stuffed because it is up against the inside of the wheel well, the upper spring mount and the track bar.

Get your front wheels rebalanced. I'm willing to be one of them has lost a weight.
