Back in my younger days we attempted Kenora, Ontario to London, Ontario straight through. 1300 miles, 25 hours driving time, crossing the border at International Falls/Fort Francis, going through Wisconsin and the U.P., then cross again at Port Huron/Sarnia. Plans changed when the front drive shaft broke, with one end beating the oil pump to a pulp and the other end knocking 100 holes in the transmission pan. I did drive 900 miles to Daytona Beach pretty much straight through in 17 hours.

Yeah, Bob is a great guy, and it's been too long since I spoke with him. Problem is I need to find a day with nothing to do, 'cause whenever we meet we end up shooting the $#!& for hours until the whole day is pretty much gone. Phone usually lasts shorter because the battery won't go that long. :D And to stay on topic, mine is currently sitting on stock tires (looks stupid with the lift and cut front fenders, 5 35x12.50s in the bed, as well as toolbox, two coolers and the front drive shaft (long story), rest is in the trailer. Leaving in 3-4 hours to have a weekend of fun off road at Jeepskool.

After the local police got tired of calls to break up domestic arguments only to be called back to the same house a few hours later they made it policy to haul someone to the local jail for 24 hours. Doesn't matter who, but if they are call for a domestic dispute, SOMEONE is going to jail. Usually the person who did not make the call, but if one person shows marks (bruises, scratches etc.) and the other does not the one without goes.

They seem to be locally. Never thought of Ebay, though.

Got one more? Still have not replaced the one that broke at Badlands that time.

Also one piece shafts using the stronger/larger u joints are a dime a dozen. Two piece shafts with them were only ever available on the 95 YJ. Good luck finding one of those in a jy.

You will have to remove the entire disco system, cut a piece of steel to cover the opening with, and put an oil seal on the passenger side of the differential. Standard seal will not work. The correct seal is mentioned somewhere (page 13?) of my build thread.

What color MJ?

Checked front suspension, rotated tires, DW is still there. Gonna try my stock tires tomorrow (weather permitting). I think the 3.75" backspacing on the 15x10s just puts them out too far. Anybody wants to trade a set of rusty banged up 15x10 street locks for a set of any 15x10s with 5" backspacing? How about 15x8 with 4" BS?

I have never heard a manufacturer say that. Some do warn not to tow in OD, because it may cause the transmission to keep hunting back and forth between D and OD (3 and 4). That continuously shifting back and forth builds up heat. A locked up torque converter actually creates less heat than an unlocked one. On top of that, the OD gear in some transmissions is not physically strong enough for towing/hauling heavy loads causing the clutches to slip, again building up heat (and burning up the clutches).
-
Pretty sure mine does. Starting out in "3" I git 3 shifts. 1-2, 2-3, and I presume 3-4. Then if I shift up into "D"/OD it shifts again. The 3-4 shift happens almost immediately after the 2-3 shift. Under normal excelleration Its like; 1...........2...............3..4.................. Starting out in 3, you do get three shifts: 1-2, 2-3, then the torque converter locking. Then if you shift into D, it shifts 3-4 with the torque converter already locked.

Ignoring the lift, that leaves: Aussie locker in front D30 Rear 29 8.25" swap Alternator relocation to AC compressor spot.

There are 4 or 5 Liberties that go about every weekend, and usually stick together as a group to run the trails. Watching them I notice there's a huge difference wheeling a solid front axle vs. ifs. JS is one place you don't need to know anybody to show up. Most any group with similarly capable vehicles will welcome anybody to run the trails with them, and nobody gets left behind. Just went on that site, and Cameraflage (Rangerjoe/Lindaspins on jeepskool.com), House34 and Donkeykong are part of that group of 4 or 5 liberties.

Bought a tow bar off Ebay, used some angle iron to build a mount off my Custom 4x4 tow hook mounts, attemped to tow it with a Cherokee, gave up. The Cherokee is too light in the rear and instead of pulling the truck through corners, the truck tried to push the Cherokee out of them. Decided I should not have gotten rid of my Suburban. But I believe JeepcoMJ tows Comanches behind a Comanche. Still not a Colorado, but may give you more insight. Wildman tows them behind a 1 ton cube van. In my personal opinion you need something full size to do it safely.

Same here. Friend has a 36 foot open trailer with 6' stake sides. Towed nice behind the Suburban last two times I moved, but the Burb is no more...

Yup, I'll be there all weekend with my 13 year old. You guys need to try the new obstacle course behind the factory. The WHOLE thing, not just the first part. Just beware the big hole (as in truck swallowing big) near the end. After the fact my spotter told me I was hanging on by two lugs on each side. No video or pics, though. Depending on how wet/dry things are I might attempt to climb Chicken Run, or the slope to the right of Mean Green. Besides that my daughter will be wheeling my truck most of the weekend. I imagine she'll spend most of a day getting us lost in Back Woods.

Pulled passenger side CV shaft, found out all three bolts holding the unit bearing had backed out 1/8" allowing it to flop around. Drove fine, though. Installed Spicer 5-760x joint in junk yard axle shaft and installed. Tightened up unit bearing, pulled 35" play tires and installed 33" street tires. DW! Gonna rotate tires tomorrow, weather permitting.

On Booger (the beater XJ) I finally swapped out the oil pressure switch for a sender for the full gauge cluster I put in last February. Still have to do water temp. Also got a new passenger side axle shaft for the Pig to replace the CV shaft that went in after a failed ball joint cost me a u joint and shaft while being parked in a river for 27 hours. Had to leave the junk yard halfway through to get a few broken tools swapped out at Sears, and buy some bigger ones while there. Still couldn't get the spindle nut off, so I pulled the unit bearing along with the axle shaft. Didn't even get charged extra for it. Why is it a good quality breaker bar with a 4 fot pipe on it and a 200 pound person jumping on the end can't get a spindle nut loose, but en inexpensive 240 foot pound impact wrench gets it in seconds? And why can't I find manual impact wrenches (the ones you hit with a hammer) any more?

4th gear IS OD. Maybe you're confusing OD with a locking torque converter?

I hope things go well for you. a 280 mile round trip without even knowing if it's still there... Now that's dedication!
