Quickor Front Performance Swaybar Install
james750 replied to LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I can't seem to spot it in the photos... but the RE generation II disconnects come with little "studs" that you bolt on the inner fender well and then when disconnecting the sway bar you swing it up to the stud and pin it in place. One of the cleanest and easiest disco's I've had. - Ben OR, you can go the redneck way like me, 2 bungee cords running from bumper (in my case brush guard) underneath and connected to the swaybar holding it up in place. -
1988 4.0L 2000 RPM start-up
james750 replied to metrictonner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, sometimes the injectors will stick open a little bit and cause this problem. as some of you may recall, i recently had this problem and it ended up being that my injectors on cyl 1, 3, and 5 were sticking. had them jet cleaned (?) and it hasnt had the problem since. \ Here is a similar problem (don't mean to be hijacking this thread, it just seams relevent) My moms 97 xj (aw4, 4.0) is revving up to 2500 rpms whenever in nuetral (or park) but calms right down when put into gear. any ideas? Also, it only does this when the check engine light goes out (once a day) when the check engine light is on it acts normal. I thought it took 51 key on key off cycles to turn off the check engine light but its going on and off once or twice a day. -
uhhh.. may 22 is only one month away from june 22.

??? Here in Ohio, a "cherry picker" is how we refer to an engine hoist. Since an engine hoist definitely does not have a throttle cable, what is it that's called a cherry picker in your part of the woods? Cherry Picker = ? an another note, if this were rigged right, i suppose it would work as an engine hoist.

those are cheap, thanks comanchedude, but i still don't know if they are composite or not and how to tell if they are cast or composite.
-
yes, they are torqued to full spec 175 lbs. yes the rig is wheeled. i keep going through unit bearings because i bought a used one from a shop (FS jeep) that just arent lasting b/c they have already been used and abused. how do i know if i have cast rotors or composite? :hmm:

i would be willing to. One thing to look into is to see if JF is willing to let u use their mj specs that are on their site if sources are cited. -
donno yet, id like to get more ppl but three would do. I think i might pm xjs4ever to see if he is interested, i came across him on CO4x4 with a cc avatar. :D

Ive only had dw once and it was one of the scariest things ive ever experienced! mine happened b/c my lugnuts were not properly tightened down at Firestone (shouldve checked this b4 i left the lot but thought the boneheads that work there knew what they were doing) On another note, i was having something similar awhile back whenever i turned left and hit bumps, it ended up being my passenger side unit bearing.

PROBLEM SOLVED: injectors were sticking. i had them cleaned out for a temporary fix and i will soon replace all of them with ford 5.0s.
-
Yup they are..i have a set of 5.0 injectors in mine...they have a better spray pattern than the stock renix ones so it atomizes the fuel better and you get a slight increase in MPG and throttle response...just make sure they are the 19lb/hr ones do u have product #s to the 5.0 injectors or know what vehicle they are in. I'm not familiar with the Ford engines. EDIT: i think i found it is it the D5B injectors? 8)

are those injectors direct bolt on. my 1, 3, and 5 cylinder injectors are sticking (that was causing my idle problem turns out) and would be interested in this mod.

are you going with the 99+ front clip to get a color matched grill? or is there some other reason for not going with the 97+ front clip. -

I was looking into the rocky road ones awhile back and they said that they're rockrails were designed for the short bed but it would work in the longbed (they said it was the same wheelbase so it wouldnt matter  last time i checked 119 is longer than 113 ) so idk if they would actually work in a lwb or not.

I WANT TO GO TO CHINA AND SHIP ONE OF THOSE BACK HERE! i had no idea that any xj was still in production. I'm not really a fan of that front clip though. Is the 4.0 still in it, thats the part i really really car about. the news to me that the xj is still in production somewhere just made my day, and gave me faint hopes of one day having a brand new xj. :D
