4.0 Cone Style Intake for Cheap?
maddzz1 replied to Ben-88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It only has places for the two big lines to hook up. One of the small line on the back of the air box comes from the front of the air box so that one is gone when you remove the box. The other one you just plug up. -
My door wipes are shot and letting water into the doors. do i need to get wipes off of a 2 door or a 4 door xj?

No lift, my jeep is stock. 89 4.0 4WD. I was planning on replacing my stabilizer bushings, so I guess i will spend the extra and get polly. What size for an 89? they list from 22mm to 28mm.
-
When I turn my wheel to the left. There is a very loud clunking noise. It seem to be coming from above the front skid plate in the area of the stabilizer. I am at work and will drop the skid tomorrow to investigate. But want some ideas on where to start Could stabilizer bushings be causing this? ...The driver side is also where i have had a clicking and think I need to replace the u-joint

New Test For California Emissions Check
maddzz1 replied to Tracker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This will not work in California. Besides, it cost me $90 to fix the problem last time I failed a smog check. And in the next Smog Check you will be paying the same guy another $100 for a new sticker. And then there is the time after that. What will your total bill turn out to be? Not a personal comment. Just a comment about longe run economic solutions compared to short term solutions. I will not have to replace my $90 cat converter for another 14 years. And the Toyota will still be running just fine. Heck, I can see my unborn grandson driving the car. Can your imagine that, My Dad got the car new in 1989, my son still drives it today. He has no children yet, but the car should still be running fine with about 260K miles when his son is ready to drive. I know my dad would be pleased to see his great grandson using the same car he got new. The cars I did this with were the type of cars that arent worth putting the money into to actually pass inspection; you know, the kind that end up in the JY before the 2 year inspection is up. If it was a car I planned on keeping (like the MJ) then I will gladly do the repairs. -
New Test For California Emissions Check
maddzz1 replied to Tracker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That doesn't work any more. It is all done via computer through the state DMV so there really is just about no way to cheat the system. Keep in mind that when the air gets to CA it is clean, when it leaves it is crap. They do that here too. The trick is to have a car that will pass and hook that one up to the machine. -
New Test For California Emissions Check

Thats why last time I had a car that wouldnt pass I just asked the kid if he would sell me a sticker. I figured since I never seen him before he would say no. But he did it. I had to give him $100 plus the sticker cost. But I actually saved money because I didnt have to pay the fine for the ticket my wife got. :chillin: -
Welcome to the board bro. Very friendly board.

Up hill driving problem

Did you tune it up when you bought it? -
I PM'd the guy selling it a couple times and never got a reply.

Under the hood ... or under the dash? I think pete covered the floor with powder to see where the water ran down from.

sorry about the truck. THis same type situation happened to my wife. She was at a red light turning left. The light turned green and the two cars going the opposite way sat there to let her go( so she thought). The kid in the second lane was actually playing with his radio and started to go without looking. When he finally looked up he hit the gas instaed of the brake, and hit her in the back wheel. The kid TOLD the cop he DIDNT LOOK, HE WOULD HAVE HAD TIME TO STOP, AND THAT HE HIT THE GAS INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE. they still said it was half my wifes fault and would have been all her fault if the kid didnt admit to that stuff. It will definately be an insurance fight.

They want you to put it behind the tire on the frame.
-
I don't think it would work pete. I think it would hold the pressure but i don't think you would be able to shape it. I had to get it between the bed and the fram and it was very hard to flatten it down at all, nevermind bend it, due to it being ribbed and the metal spiraling thru the ribs.
-
I think this would look nice on an MJ. A bit pricey tho. http://www.rockratz.com/fb3xm.html

I was thinking of getting a set too. Mine only has the clear plastic under the door panels. I figured they may help reduce wind noise. I also wnat to get the 97 weather strip for the doors.

Did anyone else notice that the top of the jack is shaped to fit the axle but the FSM says to never jack the truck up by the axle.
-
My drivers side makes a lot of noise when open it. The pass side is missing the check pin that connects the two halves. I think i prefer not having one over that noise. They are expensive at teamcherokee too.
-
Also, not to hi-jack (no pun intended  ) But what is that metal piece mounted in the middle of the panel behind the seats for? Up and to the left if your facing where the jack mounts.
