  1. Aint it the truth!!! I am going to begin looking into alternatives this morning!! CW
  2. Thanks for the links!! I haven;t done anything with the front bumper yet... Comeon warmer weather!! But the DETOURs winch mount I bought has a couple built in. So the front is set. I intergrated a 2" receiver into the rear. So I COULD call that done as well..... But is it ever really done? :brows: CW
  3. I had the same problem on mine when I switched a SKYJACKER heim joint to a TRE. I removed and installed it a couple times. Making sure there where no burs or debris in the taper. Finally I was able to get about 3/4 of the hole visable thru the castle nut. I ended up wiring it instead of using a cotter pin. I think a reg TRE has slightly different spec than a joint intended for use as a TB end. Knowing RUSTYS reputation for shoddy quality, design and customer service, this would not suprise me in the least!!! Good luck, CW
  4. SURE!! I have mo secrets from my MJ buddies!!! Big A auto parts!! UPDATE: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: NOTHING came in the mail today from Auburn, as I was promiced it would. I called them about 15:00 hrs. I managed to catch them before everyone left for the week end. My contact jamie was long gone...but a very nice girl helped me out..... Seems my ECTED was still there!!!! It was slated for REG UPS GROUND shipment to go out MONDAY !!!! WTF :headpop: :headpop: She WAS able to get it out and gave me a tracking number. She says I will have it Saturday before noon...trouble is my mech is only open till noon. So this will NOT get installed this weekend...AGAIN!!! I am SO mad at AUBURN, they may have gust passed RUSTYS as the company with the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I am DONE WITH AUBURN!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! I called this shmuck and left him a message telling him how upset I was and how I didn't appreciated being lied to and miss led. All he did for me was provide lipservice and that really blows. All I can say is this unit better get here tomorrow and it better work!!!! Thanks for letting me rant... I do feel better..... TW.. We got a dusy of a snow storm today!!! got almost a foot of the white stuff!!! I am just getting home form 16 hours of plowing!!! I got another surprise once I get here....my "coverit I bought for my TJ......snow took it out!!! All the poles are all bent and busted and the TJ is stuck under a pile of bent tubes and a whole lot of snow!!!! Its just NOT MY DAY!!! CW
  5. VERY nice!! All JEEP household here too!! I've got a 1999 TJ, This is my hard core wheeler... I drive a 1989 MJ, This is my well equipt Daily Driver... :brows: Wife drives a 1999 WJ Limited Got a 1989 XJ 2WD out back. Soon to be getting a 1987 XJ 2DR thats gonna be built up for my pop!! CW
  6. I also like the ALPINE head units. I have three of them, all different models, but the one in my MJ is about a year old and it cost about 130$ from best buys. Sounds great, has two sets of preamp out puts, one for a sub, plays WMA files as well as MP3's. CW
  7. You have your work cut out for you!! Its a VERY worthwhile endavor!! Good luck with it, CW
  8. Also lets not forget that the 10 and 8 slot grills are INTERCANGEABLE!! So unless you have owned you rig since new...you cannot say for sure if the grill is orig. :brows: CW
  9. I got my Superior axle shafts yesterday. I finally got ahold of AUBURN today. i was looking for a TRACKING number as I havent yet received the diff.....I was told I would have it Friday...it was shipped TODAY overmight!! So much for the promice I got that it shipped last Friday or this last Monday!!! As long as I get it for THIS Saturdays planned install...all will be forgotten.... I also found a new issue!! My CA bushings are beginning to fatigue!! I guess the RE rigid upper arms I have are taking their toll on the rubber bushings! I have a set of JKS adj uppers slated for my TJ... Guess I'll be putting them in the MJ with the drop brackets!! Here is the UCA's Here is the shafts I'll post up after this Saturdays install!! CW
  10. OK, guys, I believe what I have here is two transfer case skid plates for XJ/MJ's. One is a 242 and the other is a 231 skid. But which is which??? NUMBER 1 NUMBER 2 I believe the first one is for a 242 T case and the second one is for a 231 T case. PLEASE CORRECT me if I am wrong!! bri
  11. WELCOME!!! Now don't be a tease... Pull up a chair, Jeff told ya where the beer is. Get your self settled and lets hear all the spec's for those two beautiful MJ's !! :brows: CW
  12. 1984 to 1988 XJ/MJ's (I know MJ started in 1986) where 10 slots. 1989 to 1996 are 8 slots and '97 to 2001 I believe are where 7 slots. Eagle will post up with corrections, if I have it wrong. CW
  13. As far as the hydraulic brakes. you can just hook up, bleed and go. A disc brake MC would be nice but not necesary. As to the Emergency brakes. They are actuated with a lever. In my TJ (W/8.8 ) I had a buddie fashion me two pieces of steel with a slot for the lever, and a hole drilled thru for the cable. I used my factory cables, cut the ends off. Pushed them thru the hole and put that slot over the lever. I drilled and tapped a couple holes for set screws to hold everything tight. Hard to describe on line and I cannot seem to find my pics.... Good luck, CW
  14. They do look fine. The new pics are VERY clear and show wear. Nothing to worry about. The way they have worn looked like they may have been twisted. Commonly when a shaft breaks it twists slightly first. I thought that is what I saw in your first pic. Sorry for the false alarm... CW
  15. I thought the '90 wore TrXus in 35" dia.?? Ro do you have more tha one..... CW
  16. Maybe its just my monitor....but this looks like its twisted where the side gear stops..... CW
  17. I didn't realize this was the case....I saw recomendations for HD steering and posted. For a DD I COMPLETELY agree with EAGLE!! For these circumstances, the MOST I would do is the ZJ swap and only then if I got it for a good price!! CW
  18. If this is the case, why would it start up so easily with a jump? And that's why I thought it's a bad cable or cable connection that's not letting enough juice flow. I've seen perfectly fine looking cables or connections that simply did not let the truck start. I'd replace a cable or clean a connection and everything magically worked again. Don't forget to examine every battery cable and every connection between the battery and starter that would carry the starting current. Pete and I are singing to you in STEREO here........GOT CABLE??? CW
  19. '99 TJ, 31" tires and a locker. going around a corner, no excessive throttle. WHAM, like I ran over a cinder block!! Busted shaft. Rocky, soft ball sized stones and about a 25 degree grade. 31" mud terrain tires and a locker. Twisted off a axle shaft with in 20 feet. The second one was not mine, but I was there. CW
  20. A ZJ set up from a Junk Yard...GOOD catch!! A YJ setup will not work. I guess I should have not been lazy and typed the entire word..... CW
  21. Does anyone else see it? The shaft looks twisted in the splines.... if so you NEED TO FIND A NEW ONE!! Yes the shafts are different legnths. Yes you should carry BOTH. Yes you can still break it with a 4CYL. Its not all about engine power. Its carring the weight of your vehicle and the rotational forces as well as engine power. Combine that with larger than stock tires and you have a recipe for busted D35. If that shaft is twisted thru the splines, then you did that with your 4CYL, no? Just watching out for you. I'm not the one that will be hassled by it breaking. Good luck, CW
  22. The Currie set up is probably the best of the stock style..but a bit pricy... A ZJ set up forom the JY is a good choice as well... I like and went with the JCR 1 ton steering upgrade. It eliminates the stupid inverted Y setup and adds SERIOUS BEEF to the steering!! CW
  23. Also that 86 shaft looks tweaked in the splines. Is it? If so I'd look for replacements!!! EVERYONE who wheels the D35 SHOULD have a spare set anyhow!! :brows: CW
  24. Check those cables!! People assume they last for ever...THEY don't!!! Even with a clean connection there could be too much resistance in the wire itself to allow engine to start. ESP on really cold mornings. Also did you check the connec tion at the starter? CW
  25. I am running the JCR 1ton steering set up on my MJ. MUCH bigger TRE's than factory jeep. Drill a 5/8 hole and ream for the correct taper and install. CW
