  1. No idea Willy. I've only put 3k on it since I've owned it, the PO bought it new. Other than his propensity to hot tap, I think he took pretty good care of it considering it was his DD for probably 18 of the 20yrs he owned it. Funny, I thought it might be the NSS too as I put it in Neutral, jiggled it and tried to start, or put it back in to Park with a little extra pressure to make sure it was "clicked" all the way in and then jiggled it there also. I had no idea that was an item that could be cleaned or maintained though, so thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely check that out as it sounds like a real possibility. And I thought if it went bad that the tranny wouldn't shift?
  2. I really don't think it's the battery. When I had a previous no start issue I finally found the hot going to the starter relay was loose after thinking, just like here, that it may be the starter, the alt, the relay or the solenoid. That's when I had the alt tested. Anyway, it did turn a little slow on Saturday, and last night I turned the key hoping it magically fixed itself..NOT..and it did seem the interior lights were slightly dimmer. So my concern is something is drawing down on it, which does not fall under the K.I.S.S. area of repair. Actually, I'd love for it to be nothing more than just replacing the starter. I hate to go through the process but I guess I'll pull the starter and haul it down there if the starter is the consensus out there.
  3. Been at 1.87 for a week now and holding steady. I can live with that.
  4. :wall: The electrical demons are multiplying. The PO of my truck was the king of hot taps for whatever he wanted to hook up electrically, but short of literally tearing the whole dash out I'm pretty sure I've got some shorts and/or missing wires somewhere. With that history stated, some of you may remember when I posted up after I went through my dash to replace rocker switches, light bulbs and install the stereo, that I can't seem to get a constant hot for the memory on my clock and radio. The clock had memory before I did all of this, and the only wiring I messed with was the stereo, which the previous harness and my new one matched up exactly the same. Next, I keep blowing the fuse for the dash lights and running lights. Since my VA state inspection expired at the end of October, I was all set this past weekend to finally get everything straight and be legal again. Saturday I drove it around (dead tags, dead inspection  ) running errands and whatnot almost all day, so all of a sudden it was 4pm and my Cavaliers were on TV, i.e. not much effort went in to fixing anything that day. Sunday a.m. I head out to make a day of it and..........................no start. Got dash lights, buzzers etc., but turn the key and you hear the starter relay and/or the starter solenoid engage, but not a single turn of the starter or motor. Tapped on the solenoid and starter a few times with a wrench, nothing. The voltage gauge was a little low, but mine's a little erratic anyway. Regardless, I attempt to jump it with no luck even though I let it charge forever. I had the alternator checked at Advanced a few months ago and it was fine. If it is the starter or alt, is it possible that it just $#!& the bed overnight? I put at least 50+ miles on it Saturday, started fine each time with probably 10 starts, then nothing the next day.
  5. They probably considered it at one point with all the bad decisions they made LOL. No, this car actually has a connection to our beloved Comanches. It was definitely a 6, and I believe it was a GM 2.8 V6. I know John DeLorean was an exec at GM before he went on his little adventure with this so he used his connections to supply him with their engines. I think that motor was rated for like 140HP or something for the DeLorean, maybe even 160. But it also had a crap transmission and, again, was just too damn heavy.
  6. Yup, the DeLorean is stainless steel, which contributed to it being waaaay overweight for a sub-3 litre V6 to move around with any spirit. Just one of many flaws of a potentially great car.
  7. Yup, no brake lights, no memory on my clock or stereo, and now................no start. :wall: Getting ready to post up in Tech about it.
  8. For a cheap stereo setup, I'm sure there are lots of ways to do it, but I can recommend the following based on what I did and I'm super pleased with it all. I bought a used Pioneer DEH-P3900MP on ebay for @$50, but now I see them NEW for under $100. I'm not crazy about used electronics, a real crap shoot normally but I got lucky and it works perfect and is in great physical condition too. What's great about this deck is how flexible it is (and yes it plays MP3s). Specifically though, it is a 4-ch reciever with 22w per channel @4ohms, OR you can have 22w per channel @4 ohms on the front and bridge the rear channels for a 2 ohm single sub output of 70 watts peak, or roughly 40+ RMS. Granted, it's not a ton of power, but that is at a clean 2 ohm load. If you want or have a small sub you can do this and not have to buy an external amp, if anything for the time being until you want to upgrade. Since my PO took his deck but left me his 2" dash tweeters, 5 1/4 door speakers, and 4x6 rear speakers, I was able to REALLY do this on the cheap, and yet I think most people would be blown away by the sound and clean it is at high volume. So here is what I did: I patiently waited for a 6" Dual 4ohm Voice Coil Bazooka tube to come available on ebay. Can be had on a BIN with a couple of sellers for @$85 shipped, got mine from a private seller for @$60. The model is 6024DVC. To get a 2 ohm load I just wired the voice coils in series. Fits perfect behind the passenger seat, very little room taken up. You could also run (2) 6" 4ohm subs in series if you are not worried about having one behind each seat. At first I hooked up just my door speakers to the front channel, but realized the speakers were rated for 4-16 ohms as were the rear 4x6s, so I hooked the 4 of them up in series to the front channels for a 4 ohm load. What's nice is the deck has settings specifically to run the single rear channel as a sub and allows for different crossover points. Also, you can turn on the high pass filter so the "fronts" or regular speakers are only receiving mid to high frequencies. So as I said it is very "tuneable" once you get the hang of what settings you like. But the bottom line is, that one little deck with it's 40+ watts on that 6" tube will pump like you wouldn't believe. Obviously it does not take much to fill that cab, but it doesn't take a lot of power to drive that sub and again, you'd be suprised how much thump it has. So, I paid $50 for the deck, $60 for the sub and I'm all in for $110. Assuming you bought a new(er) deck on ebay for $85, sub for $85 on ebay, craigslist etc, and a decent pair of door speakers like Pioneers or Sonys at Wally World for $40, you've got a pretty killer system for $200 +/- that can also be upgraded later (it's got 3 RCA inputs). Attached are links to the deck on ebay, the sub at Crutchfield (not many on eBay at the moment), and a review from Crutchfield on the deck. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-PIONEER-DEH-P39 ... 240%3A1318 http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... =204BT6DVC http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... ailed_info
  9. yeah, he's no choker. like Taz and I said, it's maybe more of the opposite of that. TOO confident. to be sacked as many times as he has, NOT get sacked as much as he should because he breaks out of it and makes a play or tries to make a play that he shouldn't, that's not choking, that's bawlzy!
  10. I don't think Ben is aiming so much as he always thinks he can make the play no matter how much pressure he is under or the coverage. He just needs to be smarter IMO.
  11. HKB3 and Meatgrinder, I was going to mention Brett's woes if he had not posted up. Brett, IIRC, you had your liner done not too long after your paint job and you felt that maybe the paint had not cured 100%. Also, because I was very interested your thread at the time because I was hoping to paint and line soon (still haven't done it though), the discussion in your thread was that it would be advisable to do the liner first and paint second to avoid this potential problem. I believe if you are not planning on going "over the rail" like Brett has done, the paint guys generally are not too happy about having to tape off the bed. Just some food for thought..........
  12. I don't want to say it's a lock, but I'd be amazed if they don't make the playoffs. Ben definitely has to stop throwing picks though. He had good efficiency last night but the picks killed us. Hines had a great game, Moore is a guy they better lock up with a contract as a superb backup to Willie, and the defense was still pretty strong considering the firepower the Colts have.
  13. Pete Pete Pete, c'mon man?! I know you needed a RB today, but you gave up your best WR in Walters. He's scored more points than any of your other guys. You sure you don't have Matt Millen making roster decisions?
  14. Free! :D My best friend from high school lives in Southern MD now and finally got season tix to the Skins after being on the waiting list for 6 years. But my cousin also has season tix and took me to the Cardinals game earlier this year, his step-dad has 4, and another friend (they all tailgate together) has 2 club levels. I have season tix to UVa football so my cousin and I take each other to some games each year. I bought my high school buddy all his beer and grub but I still came out great (cheap). Still got connections in Da Burgh too, so I'm thinking of trying to get tix to the Cowboys game.
  15. I was at the game Monday night. Let me tell you what, the Steeler Nation was out in full force. I heard more Skins fans commenting about how they couldn't believe how many Stillers fans were there. Being that it's only about 4hrs from Blitzburgh, that certainly helps, but there was every bit of 15,000+ fans there. Awesome!
  16. welcome back, congrats on the baby! never forget your avatar
  17. well, sorry to say, she's probably on her way to a long slow death. what a shame considering what good shape the rest of her is. well, i guess i'd be willing to take her off your hands, too much trouble to fix and all. :D
  18. NO! They are AWFUL. I'll help you cut your losses and buy them for $200! ;) Just kidding. Great deal, great all around tire. But as Wade said, still depends on type of off-roading you do.
  19. Any word TazMan?
