  1. haha. reminds me of crankyankers.
  2. i've seen that truck before, don't remember if it were ebay or craigslist. one or the other. looks nice though.
  3. all the sweet deals are half way across the country. that's crap. taking a trip down to alabama, probably sometime this year with the family. maybe i'll see what they have around the states then. i would keep it if i were you. unless you have more than you know what to do with.
  4. no it's a 2.8L.
  5. and not as cold during the winter. ha, both reasons i am getting rid of that vinyl covering.
  6. nice looking bench seat. one of these days i will get the one in my 86 reupholstered. i would much rather have cloth than that leather.
  7. i wouldn't mind having a brute. i wouldn't pay that much for them though.
  8. not worried about the parts. i am thinking about getting the unibody and frame. build one from the ground up. not right away but in the near future. if they have hundreds of mjs there, then it'll probably be the first place i look when i decide to do this.
  9. :brows: hundreds of them? how many are in decent shape? if you make your way there again any time soon, you should get some pictures of them.
  10. wow, that is pretty rusty.
  11. the fuel is burning way to rich, how do you adjust it?
  12. didn't fix it. started shaking again today. suppose i ought to put new plug cables, one or more were corroded inside.
  13. well there are two box speakers that the guy put in who owned it before i did that sit on the sides under the bench seat. i don't know if the radio that was in it stock or not, it was cassette player as well, it's in the garage with the rest of the stuff that has been taken out and replaced. i have the little speakers under the dash, but nothing was put into the the doors. i know you can put them in though, when i took of the door panel to put in one of the vent windows i saw there was a place for the speak to sit.
  14. i believe so. i know they are vents in the back, down close to the floor. you are probably right now. that's pretty interesting they have it set up for speakers and there aren't any there.
  15. guess i won't go down that road then. well i got all the info on swapping that gutless pos out for a 3.4L. only hard part is finding the engine, wiring harness, computer and everything else i need. it is even less likely is finding a wrecked pontiac or camaro for a decent price. it seems like they are just as rare as comanches are over here. EDIT: i have called basically all the wrecking yards within a 2 hour drive. and looked every where on craigslist. haven't found a wrecked camaro or pontiac with the right trans., they've all been drivable both auto and manual for 2K+
  16. what do you have to consider if you want to rebuild the 2.8 to 3.1L? i have been told it can be done, but what would you need exactly? someone on here told me you can tell if you can rebuild it to a 3.1L by looking at the harmonic balancer.
  17. hmm. i don't need anymore problems, but that isn't going to stop them. :headpop: that could be a reason for the truck shaking as well right?
  18. took the mj for another drive with my dad today. was reading a book that talks about shaking problems, it's not the tire balance or the u-joint. we checked everything and nothing is loose and the bushings are fine. while we were on the drive my dad shifted it into 2nd gear and it doesn't shake at the speed, it runs even smoother. dad said something about it being the engine. so we figured we'd give it a tune up. well the cables and plugs we bought didn't do us any good because my plugs basically perfect and the cables are just fine. though my fuel isn't burning good, there's all this black stuff around the bottom of the plugs. we check the rotor and cap. the rotor was bad, and the middle plug of the cap wasn't on all the way, plus the cap is bad as well. so we picked up a new rotor at napa and ordered a new cap. hopefully that'll fix 'er. it wasn't shaking as bad after we cleaned her up a bit around the plugs and vacuumed all the crap out around them. inf fact, it stopped shaking at the speed it usually does.
  19. with you adding your two cents sounds like i do. i can do without the locks or the handles. suppose i can fix those.
  20. is that what the vents are in the back behind the doors? while i was out checking the speakers in the dash, i checked those things out as well. nothing in mine, i seen some cables though, and a plug for something, it didn't look like a speaker plug though.
  21. i was thinking from 2" to 3", at least that's what they look like. i went out to double a little bit ago to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me. i was thinking about replacing those (i need new speakers overall anyways), but never got around to diggin in there and actually measuring them.
  22. alright well if you find a second pair of vent windows in good shape let me know. i'll take those then, just as long as they lock and have the handle and the glass isn't busted up, or the frames bent up. they do seem pretty rare. i have got a set of vent windows in my 86 but i'll need another pair for an 89 i am getting within the next month or two. it has a rear sliding window, but i need one those for the 86. let me know if there's an extra sliding rear window.
  23. there are some in the 86. i thought they were just vents but i took a closer look and they were speakers.
  24. any driver and passenger vent/wing windows?
  25. that's awesome. setup it up as a rock crawler, and it having that speed, you'd have one badass comanche.
