89' MJ (very slow build up) PICS*
tkgibbs27 replied to tkgibbs27's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
i pulled the carpet back today. on the drivers side, and it's some what rusted, not to bad, but the paint is starting to bubble in some places. i am not going to worry about it right now, i will deal with that sometime later. water was leaking in around the fuse box, which ruined the fuse box, there's not a good seal around it anyways so i am going to have to find something to seal it with so no more water leaks through and doesn't ruin the other fuse box i am putting in. -
got it off. it's pretty corroded. now i gotta go to the junk yard to get a different one. i am going to had to redo the wiring on it, but my dad is going to do that for me. so hopefully i will get it all fixed up by the end of the week. just this small deal is exciting for me, i didn't get to do much work on the 86, except some carb work.

how do you take the damn thing out? can you just pop off the front where all the fuses go in or do you have to take the whole thing out along with all the wiring?

you would be in luck if you lived here in the tri-cities. we have this building called Tri Tech. they teach you all kinds of stuff. Construction, Welding, Teacher stuff, Video/Audio Production. i wish i had a job, so i would have the money to be able to afford stuff for my truck. like a paint job, a lift kit, 4wd conversion, front winch bumper, rear bumper, a canopy, and a stereo system.

well i made it back home. but it was a damn mess. talked to the guy when i was about 2 hours from the greyhound station in portland, he said he'd be there at 6 o'clock. well i showed up and he wasn't there, i waited for three hours and kept calling him, he never showed up. don't know what his problem was. couldn't get a ride down to salem, because that kid was my ride. so i ended up at some other kids place at the dorms at portland university, couldn't sleep. my friends dad bought me a ticket to salem picked up the truck got lost for about an hour. trying to find my way out of the damn place. and since i didn't get any sleep the night before i started falling asleep at the wheel in between portland and the dalles. cell phone was dead so i had to go buy a car chager for it. got a hold of my friend toni, and crashed at her place. but i made it back with the truck. i gotta do some work on it. blinkers aren't working or the brake lights nor the interior lights. i'll get pictures here in the next few days. -

well i am hoppin on the greyhound tomorrow, 34$ from here to portland. that knocks out having to pay round trip gas for one vehicle plus filling the mjs tank up. getting picked up by an old friend i haven't seen in four years. going to pick up the mj. gonna go back to my buddies place for the night, he's gonna take me around meet all the gals he knows down there, then head back in the morning to head off to a camping trip. once i get back i'll get some pictures up. -
now it's just going to be teasing me. i like that extra space on it.

Fronts should be exactally the same. Rears are way different on everything. you know what the distance between the mountings in the front?
-
yeah. well i will probably forget by the time i get it or something like it. have to wait and see though.
-
same question i want to know. haha i was clicking all over the page trying to see if there was anymore to it. ended up becoming disappointed. i got dibs on the place east, and south of the green stuff, right next to the tree, with no road.
-
ha yeah that's what i read on there. i'll check back on this in a few days, i want to see how big it gets.

not right away, but eventually. i gotta get a lift, convert her to 4wd. and all that fun stuff as well. she'll be a slow build up project, plus she'll be a dd until i get another vehicle, which i will more than likely end up getting a xj for a dd. bs walks, so i am just talking until i get a job and start pocketing some money. but those are my plans though. could take a few years.

so by just clicking on the link one more person is added to the population? i don't understand it.

C4x4 bumpers are top quality bumpers. The grill guard is a $185 option. The euro bar (hoop on the top of the brush guard) is an additional $30 option. once i start working, i may have to get that bumper with the grill guard, don't much like that hoop on top though. if i had the money i would get it now. got just enough from my tax returns to get me around until i get another job.

haha i remember when i lived in oregon. i used to spend a lot of time in the principles office and in iss (in school suspension). my freshman man year, while i was at school, which wasn't too often, those were the two places i spent the rest of the school year. i was suspended from school quite a few times. i was causing all kinds of problem, my dad was always threating me with stuff, and all that junk, was failing all my classes. then i moved and pulled my head out of my @$$ and buckled down moving in the right track. i still hate high school though. i'd rather be working.
-
looks nice though. man i like that bumper. i like this one better, how much would it be with the grille guard. once i start working, i may have to get this one. http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... cts_id=229

brand new radiator for my 86 would have cost me like 130$ i think it was. paid 86$ for one from the junk yard instead.
-
stash it somewhere and say you sold it. maybe have a friend hold on to it for you or something.
-
also does anyone know where i could find a front end (grill, lighting positions) like this, or would it even fit on the mj? http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/images ... kee_XJ.jpg
