wow, i called around to see what it would cost to get this thing fixed. just about all the shops want seven hundred to nine hundred to fix it.
-
new discovery, recent leaking. i went to look at my truck today and discovered that it is now leaking. the bottom of the bellinghouse is freshly wet and there are dripping spots on the ground.
-
i seen that in the book but wasn't sure if it was suppose to move like that.

questions diesel engine swap

i am wanting to do an auto diesel swap. would the pump have to be changed or can i just leave the fuel tank alone. -

there isn't any leaking fluids around the fuse block, there's no liquid under the floor covering. nothing under the truck. nothing around the cylinder in the engine bay. i searched and searched after i got off today. i can however pull the bleed line out and push it in about a half inch to and inch, i don't know if that means anything.
-
alright will do. i was also told to check the rubber seals inside the cylinder.
-
i will try that. but another side note, when i was bleeding the line, the slave bled nut was loose and i had my friend push on the pedal, and the liquid would shoot out like a squirt gun when he wasn't pushing on the pedal, for atleast two minutes the liquid that i had just put in the cylinder was draining out.
-
i don't know what you mean by that. side note: i have bled the line twice this week, and filled it. the first time i held the pedal to the floor and it drained the cylinder about half way, but the second time holding the pedal to the floor had no effect on the amount of fluid in the cylinder.
-
i have checked in the cab, under the truck and around the cylinder, and there are no fluids coming out anywhere.
-
so something is wrong here. i fill the clutch cylinder atleast twice a week. last night as i was coming back to the place i am staying, i just took the on ramp popped it out of gear to down shift, clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor when pushed, there is absolutely NO pressure, couldn't pop it back into to gear so i tryed rolling as far as possible and tried popping it back into gear, got it back into fourth and made it to my destination. luckily my boss called and said there is no work today. i have a chilton's book right at my face and it tells me nothing, maybe i am looking in the wrong place. what is going on here? i need to get it fixed asap, and luckily this happened during the weekend, unless i need to order parts.

just curious, what diesel engines have been dropped or put into the mjs? which engines could fit? what all would you have to do with this swap?
-
i ran a wire with a fuse from the battery into the cab, hooked up a switch and spliced into the orange wire going to the pump, works just fine now, starts up every time, only died once but that was after fifteen minutes of it running, a friend said there was water in the fuel. i have driven about five hundred miles since fixing it without problems now minus that fact that when i push the gas pedal down to floor trying to accelerate fast it starts spuddering and seems like it is loosing power. so now i don't know what that is. also that little white piece that is in the engine bay that is bolted onto the drivers side near the front started smoking after i started up my truck for the first time in however long it was sitting, so i just unplugged the wires that went to it. so that might have been the reason i wasn't getting power to the pump, because when my truck first died there was some smoke coming out of the hood.
-
fixed it. just need to put the tank back on the truck, what a pain
-
i was finally able to do a test today and the fuel pump does work. i also ran a test with the wires running back to the pump clip. you have orange, tan, and black. only the tan has a current, of course black doesn't because it is ground. i bought a volt tester so that's how i know. so where do i go from here? i don't have the internet at my place and when i can pick it up, it doesn't stay connected for long.

my truck lost all power on the freeway about a month ago and wouldn't start so i checked the fuel filter and the hose running from the engine to the filter not clogged. i got it towed into town and came back a week later started it up and drove it around for about fifteen minutes, seemed fine, went down the road a little bit and the truck lost all power again. i am assuming it's a fuel problem because there isn't any fuel coming out of the hose from the pump when the key is turned on. haven't had time to see if the pump is out or if it is an electrical problem. i finally got around to getting my truck to my place to look at it but still haven't had time because of work.
-
i have been to every parts store in town and no one has or can get the right pump for mine either. i am having fuel problems.
-
good news first, i bled the line for the clutch, so that's fixed now. now the bad news, either the fuel pump went out or one of the hoses got clogged because i am not getting any fuel past the gas tank. what pump would be suggested?
-
$145 for a new master cylinder. i put some fluid in, but the pedal still feels real loose, but slight not as loose.
-
thanks guys, i will look into one this coming weekend, it's payday.
-
just checked the fluid and there's really none in there. i was playin with the clutch pedal the other day, and everything around the fuse box is dry, and there hasn't been any leaking spots under my truck. i'll pick up some fluid first thing tomorrow.
-
haven't been on in awhile because i haven't gotten the internet at my new place yet. anyways, first of all, when i turn on the air conditioner i get this weird noise coming from underneath the hood, sounds like the engine revs up and then it makes this clicking noise a couple times. sencondly, my clutch pedal has gotten more play in it some how. i went to pendleton for round up over the weekend and i hadn't driven it anywhere but to walmart to cash my check and then back to the house i was staying at and hadn't driven it until i went down town the next day, and that was when i noticed the pedal had more play in it than usual, it already had about an inch of play. like loose play. how do i go about fixing these problems? there isn't any slip when i shift. is the clutch bad, is it hydrolic or is there a cable i can tighten?
-
ahh, well that's still good to know then. i need another truck for work in the first place, so i plan on financing a new truck several months after i start working anyways. the mj is going to be a project but not a crawler project, i am going to make it as close to brand new (with other options) as i possibly can. and i have a bmw 2002 that is a project as well.
