  3. Never heard of clocking an alternator for water drainage,... You sure it wasnt moving the alt up to the space where the ac compressor is?? I had to clock a s-10 blazers alt to fit my truck though.. but the reason I had to clock it was a mounting issue..

  8. mvusse, I never really dealt with xj's 4wd, so I may be just worrying about nothing.. Rob,, no grinding, but a lil what sounds like calipers rattling, or shock knocking.. I will check the axles Fox, hope it all looks good,, I did find a leaking steering pressure hose though...... :roll:
  9. TNT if you need any advise about the VTAK swap let me know I know Preludes inside out upside down,, esp the h22 and h23's. I also have lotsssssss of parts, well for 92-96 years, aka 4th gens.
  10. On my 96 XJ it feels like the front is binding up while turning sharply in 4 low. Kinda what I'd think would happen if it had a locker in it. The thing is that it'll do it on lose dirt/gravel.. Is that a sign of bad u-joints???? :hmm:

  14. Have you ever noticed how most of us "Comanchers" have like, I don't how to say this,, an outside of the box personalities? I use to think it was just me, then I found this site... :cheers: I know it makes me feel better to know I'm not the only crazy fewl in the world..   21. spray your primer sand it with 320, get some wax and grease remover wipe it on Never seen 320. 330 maybe? That's what used. Never heard of 330.. 320 is an automotive grade of sandpaper, is 330 for wood, or construction?
  22. Here in NC I think you just have to go make repairs, then you get another shot free of charge,, then if you still don't pass you have to pay for the next one which is $35 I think..
  23. Well my xj is a 96 and its going to have to have the sniffer test.. Its the one that has the rattles that I thought was the transfer case chain rattling... The mj,,,, well I'm just disappointed in it.. :roll: low oil pressure and I really think its the bearings... :roll: :cry: Think I can pass a sniff test with the cat hollowed out?? I don't think so, but I could be wrong.. Edit,,,, Don I'm not Chico...... :cheers:
  24. I think if its tilted up with nose in the air fluid will settle to the rear bearing.. But then again I didnt even know transfer case had pumps in them.. :dunno:
