  1. did jeep offer one of those hitches for the mj?
  2. Looked under a xj today at the hitch, it was one of those hidden hitch deals, it looked like I could use one on a mj. Think it will fit? Something like 6 bolts on each side bolting to the frame rail. I need something sturdier then the bumper.
  3. You use knuckles out. you do need an outer axle unless your 2wd axle is the type with hub bearings then you can use your stub shafts. all 97 and newer XJ axles have 297 u-joints. I forget what they changed on the new axles I would have to search to find out. I'm swapping in a '77HP D44 and a rear 9" axle so I wasn't to concerned with the changes. I do know they made them stronger and went with the 5 on 5" bolt pattern.
  4. lil confused... you say the wj's knuckle/brake wil fit on the front? do i have to find a 2wd wj or just swap in a 4wd drive knuckle?? I got the look for a 4:10 d30 with 4cyl from a 97+ xj,, what do the 297 u-joints look like? when you say next gen d44 rear from a 07 Rubicon whats did they change?
  5. hummm... :hmm: you know that might work.. the wj is a grand right? Yep. I've tossed the idea of getting the rear 8.25 from a dodge van or a Dakota or something, and buying new hubs, and moving up in the bolt patters, but hubs are crazy expensive, and I personally wouldn't really want to swap in a used one, beyond a trail spare to get home with. If you do move to the 5x5 setup, you should do a writeup, I think it would be a first, and not all that tough of a job. All new Jeeps, I think are that pattern, but I'm not sure on the libby, it might be the only one left with 5x4.5... I would do a write-up but Ill be making the spacers on a mill. I don't know if that will help anybody.. I will draw it out on cad and post the drawings,, that may help someone in the future. I'm going to seriously look into the wj axle swap though,, might find something ,, IDK have ta' look around. The thing is my truck is 2wd,,,,,,,,,, for now that is :brows:

  7. or get a rollback :brows:
  8. Yeah, I'll make them myself. The thing is the rear axle studs are a 1" long and the fronts are 1.75 " so the rears won't need to be cut with a 1" adapter, but the front will. I'm just wondering how far to counter bore the holes to fit the lug nuts.... and I don't know the offset of the rims, I do know they are 17" x 7.5" and the closest thing on backspacing I have is someone said about 6" I want these things to fit I hope I can make them.....
  9. Fill them with some of that great stuff foam ,, messy, and sticks to anything, and everything but don't get it on the paint...
  10. OK I bought some Moab wheels for my mj ......... the thing is there for 07,08 jeep yt,tj, whatever j it is and after I bought them I find out their 5 on 5 not 5 on 4.5    OK so plan is to make some adapters to fit them on the 4.5 studs..... The thing is I don't know how thick to make the adapters and what backspace or offset the wheels are...... Or think I can change the front rotors to 5 and just make the adapters for the rear only? :redX: :redX:
  11. I though the emissions light was set by a timer. Like after so many hours running it would trip the emissions light. Then you have to change out the timer under the dash.. Thanks for tripping my memory...... You are correct, it is set by the maintence timer at 80k miles.... So E85 will never turn the light on. Remove the timer and no light.... No prob. Just proves what this forum will teach you! Mr. Wildman has schooled me much on this jeep + reading the forum. Only been here 4 months and I don't see myself getting rid of the jeep ne time soon!

  13. They were pretty dirty. The biggest problem I ran into was bolting the bottom part of the seat back on the frame. after I had one side bolted down I had to take a hammer and kinda beat the frame to align the the other bolt holes.. Was well worth removing the seat covers IMHO
  14. Like I said I just threw the things on. It could look good.. This was a big ol' cig burn.. Image Not Found This is the drivers side, it was ripped and looked blah.. at least it won't tear (drip-drip that is spelled the same right??) .. Image Not Found This is the passengers side. It had a rip across it. This one looked the best, but still not as good as it could. I should of let Steph do it, but I was rushed to at least get something on them. Image Not Found All by the way, their really clean. I had just took the seats out of the washing machine.. I removed the fabric covers and threw them in with some purple power and soaked them overnight, then washed with regular laundry soap. Took them out and let them hang dry. Was a easy little detail. Another reason I did all that was the fold forward latch had bent the little bracket that held the cable that pulls the little hook to let them fold forward.(wipes brow) I'm going to ride it like that until I find something else.
  15. I didnt get that one... WTH is that??
  16. I just wanted to say to all you Jeepers, I hope you guys and gals have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. If your bored don't have any plans your welcome to come to Blowing Rock, NC to drink on the keg and munch on the fat bird with all of us. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
  17. I'd like to run through a tank just to clean out everything. Hopefully the only thing to replace would be the fuel filter. I just replaced all the injector o-rings so I don't think that it would hurt them. Might hurt the fuel regulator, though... Hurry and get that other jeep and see what all you run into...!
  18. I'd just go with what the title says....
  19. WOW .. That was ... amazing. Quote of the year......Memories. You can look back at them... just don't stare.
  20. I'll be sure to tomorrow.. Like I said it's just thrown on there, but I think it would work if time was invested.. I use photobucket to post pictures go make a account and dl your pic then copy the img tag and paste it here. to easy

  22. Da^^n that sucks I just pressure washed my engine bay!! It ran ok after I did it though... did a lil skipping but its good now! I like those vents. I've been toying with the idea of a shaker hood on my truck, I think that would be hell'a sweet!!
  23. I have a rip in my seats too... somebody was suppose to send me some pictures of their seats,, but never did,,, I won't say any names.......... JeepcoMJ :D Just to get by I went to walmarts fabic section and picked up some of this iron on patch stuff,, (its was Stephs idea actually) and ironed it on it looks pretty good. I could of took my time a little more and it would have came out looking factory. I really just slapped it on an trimmed the edges.
  24. This is a great write-up thanks TNT. This isn't going to be to tuff a swap I don't think. Is the 89's rod the same as that 87's in the write-up? The guy had a rebuilder do the rod swap,,,, it did't cover that part of the swap.. any guide lines on that part of the swap?
  25. Thanks !! yelp I think I'll go ahead and get it then. I was just worried it wouldn't fit at all. Thanks again!!!
