jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
87-89 for the aw4 behind a 2.5L AW4 versions are also used in Isuzu Rodeos and troopers with a 60 degree bellhousing, and isuzu axiom. Isuzu also has a diesel application I didn't know Isuzu's had AW4's. I know my Rodeo has a 700r4 with a 60* bell housing. -

Slipping, sure - they do it right before they die. Or it could have been the torque convertor locking and unlocking. Scale of 1-10 Maybe a 5, and that's just because you have to run all the wiring. The actual tranny install is very easy. It really felt like it could of been the converter locking , unlocking. Didn't feel like it was slipping. Is the AW4 behind all jeep suv's that are auto/4.0's? mj,xj,zj,yj...... -

No a nail punch is made of metal. you need something thats softer than the crank, ie wood, plastic, or brass. -
A beer run for the wife??..... Click Here

Yeah I agree, white is one of the best colors you can have. it doesn't show dirt as bad as a dark color (unless you wheel with Jeepco ;) ) it stays cooler, looks good when everything is blacked out (windows, black trim) you can wax it without worrying with swirl marks, lots of benefits to having white paint..

-
Yeah I do have a shrill, guess I should of mentioned that. It's just the violent way it engages

I'm getting the exact same thing your getting in my honda prelude. I'm pretty sure its the throw out bearing.. in my case. Some body told me it was my fly wheel being warped. I don't know but my car sounds alot like what your truck is doing. banging really hard when you let out of the clutch.

I've read alot about different types of crazy combos lately around here so I was just wondering. Ever heard of a auto doing what I explained earlier? On a scale 1-10 how hard is the swap to auto? -
What tranmissions fit what??
jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I have the ba10 now.. so I'll be going auto ( might be ) I wouldn't mind the auto, I did however use to own a 90 xj and it had a crazy thing going on with it about the overdrive or something. You would be going alone at highway speed and the it would feel like it was looking for another gear , felt like a manual clutch slipping. IDK. hard to explane I like autos more for the DD it will be. I have a TB with the kick down bracket off a xj. The TCU is a standalone right? If I went 4x4 from 2wd I'd still have to swap in the shift linkage with that so it wouldn't be to hard to do the autos too. The wiring isn't patched into the dash/engine bay harness is it? -
You like guys????? :rotf: Sorry, but you walked into that one...... BOT: Would be pretty amazing to be able to glide like that, but its that first step that I don't like,,,
-
I wouldn't mind going to an auto in my mj. What transmissions would I be looking for? Also if I did that I would want the whole swap to be 4wd. I found a local who had a few xj's for parts. He told me he had a 4x4 5 speed 90 xj. What would be the most likely tranny in it?? Thanks you guys'n'gals,,,,,,jt

Need advice on a striped caliper bolt.
jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hummm, yeah I guess heat might weaken something.. Guess I'll just grind it off, unless you bring that mig down here for a hour or so...... :brows: Err, why do you have to grind this bolt off? The only thing you did was strip the Torx head right? Or did you break it off, or even loosen it? It's still tight, so why flock with it? Tomorrow when you get the 7mm 6-point allen socket, you can remove the calipers and replace the pads and be back in business. Pull that stripped Torx later if you really have to. oh no I can't leave it like that.... It will bug the he!! out of me...
