  1. Hummm, yeah I guess heat might weaken something.. Guess I'll just grind it off, unless you bring that mig down here for a hour or so...... :brows:
  2. ok so you think heat will work or go ahead and grind it off.
  3. lol I like the way you think!!!!! Well that caliper in the picture wasn't the one that has the rounded bolt. The one with the rounded bolt is still chillin out in the back yard laughing at me... Well I figured that out when I pulled the right caliper and still couldn't get the pads out.... Thanks I know a place I can call tomorrow.
  4. oh ok now you tell me!!!! :hateputers: :D I used a 1/2 12pt socket successfully on 3..... I think I'm going to change those bolts to a 6pt. I hope I can find some that are shouldered (lack of word) like the ones it has now.
  5. No their not 6mm That was the largest mm allen I had. The Chilton didn't list a size. Think they are 7 or 8mm............ Yeah that why I took the 12pts off cause I couldn't find the right size allen. It has to be 7 or 8... Find out tomorrow I hope... Okay, understand now. Just crawled under - it's 7mm. right on.. 7 it is but still have to get that POS 12pt bolt off.......... :headpop:

  8. here lucky I had them right outside :D ... phone pic cause my DOG ate my digi cam....... anyway..... this is what I'm workin with.... Image Not Found Those two holes is where it mounts to the knuckle Image Not Found
  9. The 12pts are on the caliper bracket. You know the metric allen head bolts that your talking about screw into it. Then the 12pt bolts attach to that bracket to the knuckle. I'm going to try to heat the bracket and then put a piece of ice on the bolt to see if that will break it free. If that doesn't work I'm going to grind the head off and try to extract it.
  10. No easy trick huh... No welder, so I guess I'll have to go with the bolt extractor. How much was the hex bolts? You replace the 12pts with an allen bolt right?
  11. The calipers are mounted with two slide pins that are removed with a metric hex allen socket. Look inside the rubber donuts on the inside face of the caliper. I thought that MF'er was metric... I still have a striped bolt I can't get off.. Its the 12pt bolt that holds the caliper onto the knuckle.
  12. Redoing the front brakes today and rounded the 12pt bolt that holds the caliper on. Any advice on getting it off???? Vise grips just anit doing it. Think heat will do it? Another question... WTH size is the hex head on the caliper slide? It's not 1/4 and its not 5/16 Metric??????
  13. Wish i could find a honey hole like that around here....
  14. The one I found is just sitting in a field. It is pretty much cherry.. no rust nothing. It looks really good. no oil leaks that I saw and everything is stock. I'd get it myself, but its to close to Christmas and I have to buy alot of toy's made in China... As for the engine I didn't try to start it or anything. The guy just said it had a bad motor.. I think it was a 87 or 88 not sure about that either. Everything under the hood looked GOOD. It may just need something like a vac hose or something to get it running IDK.. Like I said I'd like to get and part it out, or see what was wrong with the engine.
  15. I need a carfax report. Anybody here have access?
  16. He's selling the whole thing for 6. it's a 2wd with a 2.5 . he said the motor was bad. IDK
  17. That would be a hell'a road trip... both beds r in NC near the SC line
  18. where r u? I know of 2 beds in near perfect condition for around $300
  19. theres no wonder it started rusting out like that ,,, look at all those bullet holes!! :D IMO it would be cheaper to replace the bed.
  20. I think they mis-judged the exit ramp a little... :brows:
