restoring black on emblem
ScottJeep replied to Co-MAAAN-cheee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The other method I've used in the past, when I was younger with better eyes and more concentration, was to lightly coat the letters with PAM cooking spray and then spray the background color once dry you can simply wipe the PAM off. The key here is several light coats. -
I really like the shape and size of the TJ canister. Hoping that since it's offered by SMP that I can find it cheaper or thru a work supplier on discount.

I think if something tragic happened to my bed I'd go after one of these...

Looks to be a pretty good deal. I lucked up on a JY run and snagged a pair from a 87 Wagoneer that appeared to be fairly new with really good rubber flap pieces on the front edge. I think I paid $6.00 each for them.

Replacement rear bumper, options?
ScottJeep replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nate's ran a November discount. Mine arrived almost exactly two weeks from the day I placed the order. Merry Christmas to me! -
Replacement rear bumper, options?
ScottJeep replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I must echo the previous post. I am very happy with my Nate's 4X4 MJ Bumper purchase. I went back and forth on this one. My previous MJ was a stocker and I got a chrome FEY from another CC member and it was perfect for that truck. This time around the current MJ already has been lifted and the Nate's is perfect. This thing is stout. I constantly worried before it arrived that I was going to get rear-ended. Not any more. Nate was running a special in November so mine was like $200.00 to my front door which was $25.00 than the FEY + mounting kit. Purchased a 2" hitch license plate mount. Another thing I would like to add is that Nate has been the ONLY fab shop that answered my emails and after that I phone and spoke with Nate. The other guys.... well let's just say... the didn't earn my business and well I do own 6 vehicles so their loss. -
Well I will keep it clean... first thank you to all that have served. I fly the flag outside my house to honor your, my dad's and my brother's service that allows me to do so. I was the little brother that let the big brother have his day "doing what dad did". I wanted to join up. Had signed my selective service card but then had a long talk with my brother who asked me "Please promise me you will not sign up and you will be the one that goes to college." I could tell by the look in his eye and the catch in his voice that his was really asking so for once I complied and agreed. Many days I wonder how my life would have ended up if I hadn't complied.

Just let me know if Kkilmer87' offering doesn't work out. I'd need $180.00 shipped to you.

Well the common issue for no reverse lights is the NSS switch. And one would think if major issues there major shifting issues would happen. My experience brings me back to the conversion. On my current MJ there is a connector at the top of the brake pedal. This wiring indeed has an impact to shifting for me....but only over-drive. The other side of the wiring shown came out of the wiring harness down under the heater, below the ECU. Did you find the AW4 manual? http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PDFs/AW4_manual.PDF Goggle can be an awesome tool but gets you LOTS of reading. Just gotta keep digging.

Here a some pictures... They could use some additional cleaning.... I was considering painting the inside black and or the color of the truck for some contrast. Have one additional center cap. The lugs are in one of my posts... and were purchased so they fit under the caps.

I have a set of turbine wheels... complete with caps and new lug nuts.... possibly tires with less than 200 miles (if you are interested). Willing to work out a deal... I like them but have found something else and really need to sell mine first to justify the purchase of the others

Well... I don't have much experience with your situation based on the manual/auto and 2WD/4WD swap but I just thinking my first couple of questions are: 1. Do you have backup lights when the gear selector is in Reverse? 2. Can you start the truck in both Park and Neutral? My other thought would be my manual MJ was 3:07 geared rear and my auto is a 3:55 which based on my reading is pretty normal. Based also on other auto experience the autos usually want to kick into Overdrive ~45ish MPH. Other questions.... 1. Good tranny fluid color? 2. Will it change into ANY gears or just certain ones? Would highly advised downloading the transmission manual. Should find it easily here via a search or looking around. Use the diagnostic portion. Has saved me a couple of times when I had some issues with my XJ.

Your fav. Coil Springs and Shocks
ScottJeep replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I have the feeling that I'll be the odd man out but I've just finished my mixed bag.... I have 2" coils ( can't remember who ) they are a bit softer than stepping up to full coils ACOS coil spring spacers Iron Rock rear AALs NAPA YJ brake lines Rough Country Control Arm Drop Brackets Rough Country Disconnects Rough Country N2.0 shocks all the way around My main thing is good customer service which I have always gotten with Rough Country who I also used to buid my 97' XJ. I prefer to purchase direct and want to see good feedback and a good warranty. That way I have no middle-man to deal with IF I have a problem. Happy with what I have. -

Fender Flare Mounting?
ScottJeep replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I guess I'm just lucky.... or good with PB Blaster...have taken two complete sets and several off at the JY and only broken a couple. My chosen replacement vendor is Morris 4X4 ......pretty reasonable IMHO.
