88 Mj 2Wd To 4Wd And 37's
jbain replied to mccomanche's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Well I would never have guessed that.... my assumption was they were very fragile and meant more for running the desert at night than squeezing under fallen trees. -
What kind of Off Roading do you do? If it's just trail riding in wide open places then I'm ok with that but If your planning on beating it up then please find something a little less amazing. As folks know around here I'm not an advocate of keeping them original but this one is something special......congrats you have a really, really, really nice MJ.... I'm super jealous.

Where I wheel there is a lot of brush and low hanging tree branches and deadfalls. Likely that bar wouldn't last a day before I knocked it off... Originally I had planned on an EXO and I was going to hang a light bar under the bar that would have ran between the A pillar bars above the window. However I had to scrap the idea when I decided to go with an interior cage instead. Your MJ is really looking sweet.... how much lift are you running? -
At one point in time I planned to make mine an expedition rig.... here is the bed rack I planned to plagiarize.... :D Looks awesome keep up the good work....

Really cool.... it's on my list to do a rear winch but I want to get a front suck down done first. I figured I'll make the rear winch do double duty as recovery and suck down..... I like how you mounted it....Now you got my wheels turning.... I could mount it midlevel like you did and it would be directly over the axle and the cable would run out the back under the rear bumper....

I was actually on Sea Duty for 14 of the 20 years but of those 14 I was probably gone 8 from homeport. I think every OS has heard of the Belknap.... what years were you on her? -

Thanks Earl..... Of the 20 years I served Don, I spent better than 8 of them onboard and away from Homeport...... I wasn't familiar with the Terrier / Tartar and Standard missile systems so I looked them up..... my first ship (USS Guadalcanal LPH-7) had the Sea Sparrow launched from the BPDMS System if your familiar at all with that system. -

Thanks Hornbrod...... Well believe it or not I was an Operations Specialist and spent 20 years in a dark room looking at radars and working with weapons systems.... The Harpoon Missile was my specialty. -

I read that Dana 44's with Highsteer or over the knuckle used a 6 inch but a stock 44 used an 8... I measured mine at 7.6 inches but after getting my beadlocks bolted up the offset cuts me down to about 6.... so I'm going to weld up a better set of steering stops and go with that. I priced that very set and gotta say I'm seriously Jealous.... is your trackbar in the stockish location? (on your 44 axle) Post up picks so I can see where you mount it.. I'm hoping to put it on top of the Trackbar mount but I'm not sure if I'll have enough room

Pick it brother..... in our club we have a saying..... "Your Ride, Your Rules" basically it means you post up the ride with the location and dates and we go from there.
-
So SW86 can we safely assume the dates for the pow wow will be Saturday Aug 1st and Sunday Aug 2nd 2015? (I will probably pull in the Thursday before and ride that Friday also)

Man I love those lightbars.... wish I could run one.... :fs1: -
I'll also have at least one Wrangler following me also..... well if nobody minds that is. :dunno:

Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Mountaineer.... I'd never heard of Ronceverte so I looked it up on Google and see your down by White Sulfur Springs..... Back when I was in the Navy I drove through there all the time (stationed in Norfolk VA). I always enjoyed driving that stretch of 64 between Beckley and Winchester....
-
I would suggest not going with black or anything dark.... hides leaks and makes them harder to find later. Trucks looking good... keep up the progress....

Here's a video of my buddy Zack running Butchers Block... He hasn't wheeled a double black before so I gave him the keys and told him not to scratch it. The video didn't turn out very good because I was filming into the morning sun.... that and I was trying to spot and walk backwards all at the same time..... :)
