  1. Yes that will work. RE9993 is for the left side RE9991 is for the right side. Personally I'd run THESE if I was going to replace mine. They are cheaper ($55 for 2) and allows you to run an adjustable cam bolt. Both (any actually) will require welding for fitment.
  2. They are "Canyon" wheels and where available in both a 15"x8" and a 15"x7" size. To the best of my knowledge the ZJ got the 7" wide version and the TJ got the 8" wide version.
  3. Whatever you go with just remember to go with as long as a perch as possible to help with axle wrap. Also remember that the perch itself in a SOA application can vary the amount of actual lift you get depending on where the "notch" is cut and how much material is above the said "notch".
  4. That's debatable... 8.8" is still c-clip and a semi-floating axle. Shaft size is the same and the 8.8" only has 1 more spline. Yeah the ring gear is bigger on the 8.8" (marginally) but the carrier's are junk and often fail under stress. I'd take a D44 any day over the 8.8"...

  6. It's not about clearance as much with the MJ's, but instead shackle inversion & angle. Imagine the shackle dangling freely, now attach a spring and allow it to droop. The shackle will swing toward the frame. Now, if the spring compresses and there's pressure on the tire, the shackle cannot swing back forward and instead will rise up (swing backward) during the spring compression. This causes the spring to bend upward at the end. The boomerang shackle helps prevents it due to the angle. Also the angle is very much key in how a rear leaf will ride while on the road. Though it's the same distance between 2 points I'll agree; but if your shackle is say at 45deg vs. 30deg you will notice a huge amount if difference in ride quality. It has to do with how much movement the shackle can make; and how the energy is transferred to the vehicle. Though the same distance between 2 points, the angle has everything to do with ride quality. A boomerang shackle changes the angle of the shackle itself, thus making the ride quality better.
  7. Your shackle angle will make a huge difference in the quality of the ride as well. It's hard to see by your pics but what do the angle look like? A set of boomerang shackles would help a lot. JKS Mfg. makes a 1" extended XJ shackle that will keep the MJ very close to the factory length (thus no lift). Also having a greasable shackle will help with the noise.

  10. A common thing we do around the shop here is simply move the bracket where the hard/soft line meet. In the photo here you can see where the bracket was and where we simply move them to. You'll gain aprox. 6" of length. Cost - $0.00.
  11. The YJ yoke is longer, but is not fully splined the extra length like the XJ/MJ yokes are. So what you gain in length you loose in spline engagement.
  12. Does he have the tub for the Willy's? The tub is expensive to replace if he does not have it...
  13. It will depend on the offset (and width) of the rim as well as exactly what size tire you run. You can always adjust the steering stops to prevent rubbing on the LCA or flares. Simply just add a washer behind it...
  14. Just a FYI to those interested in the Hi-Country product. We received notification this morning (9/20/10) that Hi-Country will no longer be in business as of today. They currently are taking no new orders and are selling all remaining stock. They DO NOT have any tow hook kits in stock. Matt & Kelley have moved back to CO and are perusing other things.
  15. TNT will build you a truss based on what you do/don't want. You'll order it with "options"; so if you want the coil buckets (where the coils sit), the trackbar mounts, the shock mounts, control arm mounts, etc. etc... The truss will come shipped to you built to your specs, you'll than have to weld the truss to your axle assembly. Once the truss is welded to the axle it will simply "bolt-in" to your MJ.
  16. Treks (TNT Customs) offers a truss system for your axle to put it under a XJ/MJ. Probably the easiest option out there...

  18. Solid and Rockcrusher are NOT the same company. Grant @ Rockcrusher recently won a federal lawsuit against Solid Axle Industries over the entire mess. Solid is not legally allowed to sell any diff-covers anymore. They marked them down to $65 to just piss Rockcrusher off. Try to add one to your shopping cart on their website; it won't work... Solid also changed their name to Spyntec Industries to try to avoid the entire mess as well... Rockcrusher is still producing and selling covers. You won't find anyone who's selling the Solid covers anymore, or anyone who has them in stock either...

  20. From the factory the JK uses 22 different coil springs, each with a slightly different spring rate; dictated by how the JK is equipped. It's honestly so hard to tell what kind of results you'd get from a JK coil.
  21. Pricing sounds about right. Just make sure it has the internal baffle (pan) and comes with the lock ring. A lot of times they "skimp" on those things to cut the cost.
  22. You always want to go longer than needed. So in your case with a 2.5" lift you'd want to go with a set rated for 3".
  23. No they will not "bolt-in". WJ coils have a different diameter.
  24. I wasn't the one who made the "safe" comment; however I was the one who said "C4x4 are by far the best ones around". As a vendor for both manufactures and having both of the items as a normally stocked item on our shelves, installing them on a regular basis on customers XJ's & MJ's, I feel that I probably more than anyone here can back up my statement; whether it be an "opinion" or not. It has nothing to do with how much "profit" we make from either vendor either. Actually we make more from the Hi-Country kit than we do from the C4x4 kit. Both companies have been a pleasure to deal with on a weekly basis as well. The C4x4 kit is made from thicker material, has a side support brace in the major stress area of the hook itself for better side-pull distribution; 2 very important things when it comes to considering a set of hooks/mounts. Thus why I made the comment I did. Both kits I have no question about being "SAFE" or not. I've used both kits and both are a quality product. I do give props to Matt @ Hi-Country for redesigning the kit to resolve some of the "issues" with the new Xtreme kit they now have out. It's a very high quality well thought out kit that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. It has a major benefit over the C4x4 kit with the fact you can opt for it with d-ring mounts. Both are a quality kit; both I'd recommended to a customer, and both I'd run on my own Jeep. However with that said, I still feel that the C4x4 is the better kit on the market. I do apologize if you feel that I have not been fair to your previous post. In ParadiseMJ's defense I think they were making the "SAFE" comment in direct reference to bolting hooks directly to the "frame" of the XJ/MJ. I don't think that it had anything to do with calling the Hi-Country kit unsafe. Maybe I'm wrong but that is simply how I'm reading the reply. -Adam
