Pong's motor has 156,000 I think. But it is a 4.0, and you also get a tranny and t-case with a sye
-
well it tells you to do this from a strength reason, but I used grade 8 3/8 when I had my RE DB's

I have a set of alcans for sale -
go straight to the truggy and skip the exo crap
-
Heck for that price you could buy Pong's motor and tranny and t-case. I would even throw in a spare motor, and all the wiring you needed.
-
if you look in the for sale forum I have some parts for sale, and you can almost piece together a nice lift for about half of what retail is on it

Congrats man. Your house is going up quick. Around here it isnt common to do the fill in the foundation like that, but I have seen it done a few times. Most ppl either do slab on the ground style... or crawl space foundations around here. there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I worked Christmas day as well  but masde tripple time with a day off later :brows: wish some of the other guys wanted more time off :D I got a bench grinder pedestal, a set of wheel dollies, Some clothes, cash, and some eating stuff. I bought myself the 750X drill bit doctor, a new engine stand, an engine cart, a engine leveler for my cherry picker, and a new set of box wrenches :D Nothing like being Santa to yourself :brows:

My suggestion is to use a set of f150 spring plates, or buy a new set. Matt at Independent has them in stock... not sure of the price, but can't be but so much

A bad lesson learned

I know this has been preacched a million times, jack stands are not 100% and niether is a hydralic jack. ALWAYS CHUCH AT LEAST ONE TIRE FRONT AND REAR. As for dropping something with a hi-lift. Those things are extremely dangerous. we had a guy in the club drop a YJ using a hi-lift and he broke his leg in 2 places -
DC did the leaf conversion on his rig, and Brett has it on his. I am doing coilovers. As far as how hard is it.. that all depends on your skills and equipment

What kind of MPG can I expect
pingpong replied to WN1998's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
MPG is over rated.... its all about how slow you can crawl up a face of a rock while bouncing off the rev limiter :teehee: -
lame tech: steering stabalizer
pingpong replied to ORCA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I personally don't believe in them, but you get what you pay for. -
I think the spring width would be all right... its just the rate would worry me a lil. If I had a stock rear frame I would try it.. if I all ready had the springs.
-
That is all in the eye of the beholder. I am putting full width 60 upfront, and it has the wrong side drop  :hmm: I have a set of full width Hp 44 and d60 I will be happy to sell you :D

Grinding stuff off is cheaper then that. My 14 bolt disc conversion is cheaper then that, and that is using all new stuff
-
Well I picked up a few things today

Try to rebuild or buy remaned
pingpong replied to WN1998's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would say find you a good running motor for a few hundred and swap that in. I didnt catch where you were at, but I am getting ready to pull Pong's motor, and it can be had cheap, as well as the other 4.0 I have sitting on the engine stand in the corner. Rebuildint the motor might cost more then you think. Machine work is going to run a couple hundred easy. Last time I had a block bored it was 14 bucks per cylinder, had the heads dipped shaved and magnafluxed 75 bucks a piece. Then also had the block cleaned as well. I installed my own freeze plugs as well as cam bearings (requires special tool) but I had to have them install my rods to pistons at 5 bucks a piece. I think I left the machine shop aboiut 500 bucks lighter. This as back in 97, so I don't imagine it has gotten any cheaper -
Have you tried this? I've got a set of 32x32s laying around. To answaer your question NO.. but I know myt alcans measure 63" so I don't see why It wouldn't work with a lil work. Keep in mind it will ride like poo pooo due to the increased spring rate. I would hook them up to the axle, center said axle and go for it. Disclaimer "anything I tell you to try is to make you think outside the box and to try and make things work. By no means is this an endorsement to be stupid and cut up your DD like I did :brows: " Seriously I would rethink using the Chevy leafs due to the spring rate. I am sure you could get them to work.. but would the pay off be worth it... I don't think so
-
The key to fast axle swaps.. is sawzall and torches. By myself and being safe I can pull a front axle out in under 1.5, and that is not cutting a thing  On a junker cutting things with the smoke wrench less then 30 minutes the axle can be out. Now preeping the said scraped axle for install will take longer then that. Remember it is only 4 control arm bolts, 1 trac bar bolt 2 shocks, and 2 brake lines
-
No pics yet.. but I am in the process of building my rig to take 42's :brows: But i am also going full width, and am a truggy :D
