88 comanche project (continued)

I recommend you upgrade that diff cover to something with a lil beef. They are thin and bend real easily, and are a PITA to seal after they get tweaked :brows: I used the BTF Kryptonite cover on mine when I had the 8.8 under Pong.... that thing can take a hit :D You going to keep the front coils or going leaf sprung? I got some ideas kicking around in my twisted mind about doing some leafs on a xj/mj, and trying to get it so it can be offered as a kit. -
Jeff call me when you get a chance...

I am 33, and refuse to grow up :D

That makes you a ricer.... not a thug. The mods Eagle mention make you a thug. Eagle also forgot to mention the stereo has to be able to be heard a block away, even if all you here is what sounds like loose metal being hit by a hammer. Also you have to have more tv screens then you do seats.

Thats what I thought as well, just looked like it was loose stuff, with some big stuff sticking up, more ground clearance and he would have walked right up it with no issues. Who said size doesn't matter

I am waiting on my Bender to get here, and as far as bumpers and sliders, I need to find an unmolested rig to make a jig off of it. I was wanting to make the rails and other parts fit tight, so Making generic off of some measurements at first really isnt an option. I have some pretty cool ideas floating around in my head, when it comes to rear bumpers, Tailgates, and tail light armor. :brows: All parts will be built to be abused, and feature the option to weld on, or just bolt on

I know my Lincoln Pro Cut 25 does, but the duty cycle when it is 110 is only like 20% compared to 60% with 220

This is why in the wild animals eat their youngins.... Also why you should always supervise your kids

The only real difference is the cab to frame mount that has to be cut for the Belly plate to mount. Also you will have to cut some extra metal upfront as the MJ has more reinforcing in the LCA mount area.

Basically look at the way Yota's truss their top, and run the same type of setup. The way I look at it you are probrably most concerened about the Long side. If you were to run the truss form pumpkin to Right side UCA mount, and the from knuckle to Uca mount. I would use a piece of 2x2 tubing with the bottom cut off. It really wouldn't take away much clearance as the UCA mount is still the tallest part. I hope I explained it, I have yet to see it done, but I am sure it has been

For some reason Wranglers, be it CJ/YJ/TJ al fetch outragoues prices. I have seen total rust buckets with non running engines fetch 12-1500, which is just unreal. I really like the XJ for the price, and I try to buy evry xj/mj that comes along.

My comments are.. it looks great, but some of the fab work looks like it might cause an issue. For the cross member call up Terra flex, and see if they would sell you the LCA mounts from their long arm kit. It is made out of 1/4 stuff and wraps around the frame, and connects to the x-member mount... has like 7 or 8 bolts holding each side on. Your upper control arm mounts on your long arms look kinda scarey, Looks like it can cause you to bend your lowers (over compressing the suspension) or worse yet fail due to how tall they are.

It would be easier to convert your front to the 5x5.5 bolt pattern, and buy the spacer to make the rear 5x5.5. Either way it won't be cheap
-
It sits high, but that might be by design. The seatbelt and child restraints should keep her from hitting the dash/ windshiled. If the seat sat lower I would think there would be more of a chance to hit the dash during an accident
-
Change the front hubs to ford f150 style... 5x51/2, and you can get 8.8 shafts in that bolt pattern, or get spacers that go from 4.5 to 5.5. I know spider trax makes them. Look into yukon 8.8 shatfs, I know they make custom 35 spline 60 shafts you have to cut down for less then 80 bucks a side

I bent Pongs first d30 which was a disco axle down in Tellico  Yeah it was due to driver error and probably wouldn't happen if I didn't try and take a stupid line :brows: As for the non disco housings.. I suggest trussing the top off the axle, and limiting up travel, instead of trussing the bottom and reducing ground clearance.
-
I thik it would be easier and cheaper to buy 2" lift pucks instead of going through all that work of raisng coil buckets :brows: BTW I have dealt with Ballastic.. their shipping is slow as hell, and they bill your credit card before they ship the item. So I had paid for my parts about 2 weeks before they arrived. Here is the bad thing... the cut quality is poor on their brackets, looks like they were made with an old cutting tip. BTW did I say I order almost 800 bucks worth of crap, and stil got bad service

I have a rough country kit on my XJ and it rides rough :brows: I would not recommend that kit to anyone who daily drives his rig.
-
I do the same thing when I don't want to part a rig out... I find out what the guy wants then give hime a price 100 bucks higher then if he bought the whole thing. Gotta figure time is worth something especiallly when you have to remove the parts
-
If it is a NP435.. can you say granny gear  I hate to tell you, but that front axle is going to be a PITA to adapt unless you run ford radias arms, and if you do ask Pete M about how to pull it off, the way I did mine isnt exactly the best
-
If it was me.. I would be doing a isuzu 12 bolt or using the rear axle of said waggy :D

Old truck of mine was impounded...read this and vote

You might want to get some legal advice on this, but since you sold it, you don't have a right to just pay the storage on it, since you don't technically own it. I would definately look into all the legal aspects, as the person who was arrested is the owner, or the person you sold it to is... even though you own it on paper. BTW it is always a good idea to notify the department of Motor vehicles if you sell or junk a vehicle -
Scout's are Passenger side drop.. thats why all the CJ owners love them for a cheap swap. Keep in mind cutting down a Axle is a PITA, but the 75-77 ford f150 had weld on Radias mounts, and make a great swap especially if you are going to go chromo shafts. Cut the inner "C" off and make it waggy width. Only donw side to the earlier ones, is that it is a drum setup. So this is where you find a set of chevy flat tops and make it work, cause more then likely you will need a hi-steer setup anyways
