It looked really tough when It pulled out the yard. I don't think they will settle much unless he starts to flex them really hard. By the way.. Dakota, and Extended yj brake lines are almost flexed out with this size of lift
-
I did it on Casper, but I used stock ford mounts welded to the body   and didnt like it, so I am going to deconstruct it, and strip said vehicle  There are a few issues you are going to have to deal with, but I like it, and it sounds like you have it under control.

I think the d60 from a late 60's mopar is real close.... I think a Barracuda, but do to their rarity.. and the fact that Mopar fans are just nuts  they fetch big money

Drop Bracket v. Long Arm
pingpong replied to ridenlow12's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I ran RE DB's on Pong for a lil over a yrs.... Ran Tellico with them  Had no issues :brows: Then I sold them for what I had in them... and Josh kept them for a yr or so.. and then he sold them for the same price  I wish I would have never sold them. By the way this was with stock upper and lower control arms  and 61/2" of lift. They flex great, ride great. I didnt have the reinforcement brackets on them.. and I HAD no issues with any thing on Pongs frame, or holes elongating. The worst thing that ever happened to that setup was I bent a LCA.. my solution was to buy some 1/8 plate and weld up the bottoms.. and that made it work so much better.... casue after that.. they never got hung up :brows: Making me think.. everything under my rig either has to be a skid or a ramp :D -
Thats only cause they ride better then the short arm kit... did I mention they ride better
-
yup... both xj's in my yard, and IIRC lil pong none of them had a clutch cancel
-
I was going to say Pong has/had an aw4 and it is 23 spline.. but had a build date of 9 oct
-
none of mine do
-
I was talking on your front beam.. I assume you all still use bearing up there right ;)
-
Jeff measured from the flare to the ground. I don't want to be the one I told you so on some of the Post lift woes  but I did :nanner: The only issue I didnt see before hand was the UCA issue...
-
it very well could be a d35 non-cclip....the easy way to tell is the axle ends bulge out.

If it was my rig I would check the basics first. repack/replace all u-joints check all streering components and grease. check unit bearings for wear Have tires rebalanced check pinion angles, and make sure they are withinn acceptable limits After all that.. you can still come over and drink a beer with me when you are in the area :D

Yeah it is kinda Funny about the Oyster Festival... 100k ppl in a town that normally has a population of 5k at the most  Did I mention the one way in.. and the 15 bucks it cost to park about a mile from the town :brows: It is mostly geared towards tourists.. it use to be a local only kinda thing.. damn come here's  Jeff got kinda lucky on the lack of vibes... but this isnt the first time I have done this kinda thing either. :brows: You can ask him.. I told him his front shaft was more then likely his problem  His rear driveshaft had the same pinion angle after we flipped it as it did when it was SUA, plus a new u-joint (we should have changed the other one too)

I live in Middlesex County. Since you are kinda familar with the area.. its cool.. you know there isnt anywhere down here to work... except in one of the maufacturing plants, or ship yards
-
I asked you if you wanted to do that before we put them on ;) But rest assured... now his rig can say it has had mud/dirt on it.. even if it wasn't from it going wheeling ;)
-
Yeah.. I figured you were waiting for me to chime in on that  but it is all good... It pays the bills :brows:

Where I live you have to watch out for the 10% etheanol fuel. It seems that slowly but surely that they are trying to force everyone over to ethanol. So If I get gas close to the city (40 miles away) you only get 90% gas for the same price as my 100% gas. Just doesn't seem right to me :???: By the way my XJ gets roughly 19mpg and that is with 33's and 3.07's   Don't worry I am going to fix that
-
Thats where I work at  and it is no Longer Cheasapeake.. it is Smurfit-Stone Container Corp at West Point :brows: You can't smell it after you work there for a few yrs

Yeah Jeff and I welded the perches on about a month or two ago.. and like he said we just set the parallel with the stock perches. I personally think if he goes any higher he needs long arms or a set of drop brackets. Jeff still needs to figure out how he wants his shocks mounted... and whenever he gets back out this way we can figure out how he wants it. As for finding other jeep junkies.. try finding a local club.. most jeepers will help anothe jeeper out

Would you believe everything was done with spare parts I had laying around

under the hood: what am I missing?
pingpong replied to Beachbum1236's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
as well as the oil cap... I think and 2 cylinders  -
I have to ask.. where did you do this at? Was it before you got on the interstate?
-
You forgot to mention me breaking the driveshaft yoke  Or the fun we had trying to get the used (freebie) shocks to work  All in all it wasnt too bad.
-
You really can't go by Blue book with rigs this old... I have seen some sell cheap as hell and some fetch top dollar, it all depends on where you are at in the country how much money it is worth. You don't say where you are at.. or where you might be relocating... and I would do a search and see what else is out there

Anytime man :wrench: you know I love to wrench on stuff, especially when there is free beer involved :D
