NO I wasn't told it was a pita to do :brows: As for wanting free parts.... this one just fell in my lap, and I can't turn down free parts  Even though I all ready have a np435, and another 8.8 in the yard
  4. Be advised that doig a shacklelift can and will rotate your pinion angle, and move yout tire forward in the wheel well which can cause rubbing issues if you were close beforehand

I have been having a real problem with them lately.. they keep following me home  Where the quickly find out that they will be doing duel with a cutting torch  The latest victim was an 85 f150... a buddy needed the hydralic clutch setup for his v-8 YJ swap, and since it was free :D I had to bring the whole rig home so Jason could get the parts, and I get my parts as well. I kept the np435, np208 and the 8.8... not like I don't have a few all ready.. so whats one more http://community.webshots.com/album/561373466QxykmP The guy I keep getting these fords from has one more... maybe he will give me that one too
  6. It would help if you told us what engine and tranny it had
  7. I got the bender... for a notcher I use the good old plasma and ginder.. Dimple Dies  They don't have to fix it.. just give you better drugs so you don't think it is broke :brows:
  8. Yes in five speed equiped xj's
  9. NOt sure how much wider the scout d44 is. I also don't recall off the top of my head what the width is a a waggy d44. As for if that truss is worth it.... thats your call. for a 150 it can't hurt, if you have an axle you have to keep
  10. To me it would depend on condition, and how bad the person wanted it... Shipping would be a pain... so 100 to 150
  11. Is that your RTI score? Behonest ramping rigs has kinda gone the way of the past, or mall crawling ;) BTW lockers have nothing to do with yor score... they are suppose to stop once you start binding on something, and by the looks of it.. your front tire should have some custom grooves cut by now :brows:
  12. I can't think of a single fuel injected rig that has a choke
  13. Thanks man.. makes me realize how bad my fab work is.. and how bad I need a set of dimple dies ;)
  14. question would be why not.. stonger :brows: more gear choices  full floating axle :hmm: or thats what he wants :D
  15. Well to swap in an 8.8 you are going to need a 1310 companion flange... yes some explorers came with the 1330.. you just need to worry about the 1310. Also you can weld as manay perches as you want on your axle.. after all it is your axle. Jeff and I just did a SOA on his rig, and his was a MJ d44, so we welded perched parrallel to those and called it good. Jeff and I realized this when we did his soa.. that with stock tires your rims are real close to the frame in the rear, and with an 8.8 would be even closer, so wheel spacers would almost be a must. Just remember to ser your pinion at the same angle as your t-case pinion (without sye) and with SYE point it towards it
  16. ONly down side... is if you break an axle shaft it requires more tools to fix
  17. How much up travel did you get... How they flex
  18. Sounds like a bad fuel pump
  19. I am all about running a doubler (203to d300), but the 203 to 205 only nets you a 4 to 1. so that being said a 4to 1 231 is cheaper to build then that heavy setup you are looking at. Thats is just my humble opinion though
  20. So sell me yours.. and get your buddy to make another one :D
  21. Some one buy it.....wish I had that kinda money to spend
  22. Thats great.. might work better then bottoming out every bump
  23. ON the 4wd front axle you must keep the outer axle shaft in place.... The wheel bearing has no strength to take side loads, and will destruct quickly leaving your vehicle with one less tire and a bunch of other damage.
  24. I just checked in the Differentials book and it only list 67-72 muscle cars as a source close to stock width. IIRC Ford had some five lug semi float axles out there in the late 60's early 70's.. Tracker pointed out a good option, having it narrowed, but it isn't as easy as cutting and welding... at least not to do it properly.
  25. Randy's ring and pinion
