  1. Pong with no doors at Paragon, On upper wompom Pong truggied at Crozet on an obstacle called Body Shop... I was running it back wards too
  2. NO... but when I was a rodbuster I had to help pour some concrete.. talk about a crappy job when they put you on the end of the hose :brows:
  3. Taking stuff you don't pay for is stealing. I guess it would be considered shop lifting or petty larceny. If for some reason these pocket items land you in court... you know why. When I go to a pick-n-pull, there price list is posted.. so you know what you are getting. The local yard I frequent is only for items I can't get elsewhere (flat top knuckles, explorer rear disc parts), but I used to give him all my scrap cars.. so he gives me a good deal. I know he is trying to make a living, just like I am trying to save a buck. If he gives me some crazy price... I leave it behind.. then come back on another day when he needs less cash
  4. Well Yesterday (monday) I got the axles dropped off at the axle builders... got a few pics of what they got going on at their shop. This is Friday as I was preparing to head out to Ground Pounder Fab for the cage work. had the windshield pulled to make fabbing the cage easier A pic of the ever ellusive Xj D44 (thanks Jeff) A front d30 out of a 89 xj. Interestingly.. it has removable caliper mounting bracket. This is the axle builders rig. Basically it is a right hand drive IH Scout on rockwells with a doubler Also at the shop they build Gatsby kit cars... here is one of their current projects This is Shawn's (axle builders) ride.. its a stortened and reworked lincoln frame with a 351W. Car might weigh in at 2500 pounds when done, talk about a fun ride.
  5. Pinpong, how do you bumpstop it properly? Can you buy a longer bumpstop. My tires stick out past the fenders and like Eagle said hit bodywork, instead of tucking in. How can I get that to stop keeping the tires and wheels I run now? What I did up front was replace the rubber bump stop with an after market one, then went and bought Ice Hockey pucks and all thread. Then I force flexed the front and added pucks. Now JKS offers and adjustable bump stop setup. For the rear pretty much the same, but they sell different hieght bump stops. The steering stops are on the the back of the knuckle, and bascially you adjust them out some... you can't twist them out probrably more then a 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch, but that will limit your steering greatly If you are hitting body parts now... adjusting your steering stops, or added bump stops will not fix that. Only more lift, and trimming can fix that
  6. It doesnt bother me any... Might have fewer DUI related deaths and crashes if they did that in more places. I can't tell you how many DUI check points have been up in my area lately... and it always seems to have 1 or 2 cars over to the side and ppl taking the tests. Just imagine how many are out there and don't get caught
  7. The post pretty much covered everything.. I will let you know what all is attached to the wiring harness and what needs to be removed from the donor rig.. I am going to pull the tranny this week. As for being a newbie.. we shall forgive you this time ;)
  8. First off I have to say thenks to Jeff for all his help. We got a good front axle out of an 86 xj, with the 242 in it. We got ready to start to get the shifter, and it was more work then I had time to invest today. I had taken some pics.. but.. for some reason my phone didnt save them. Now I just have to strip this axle, and get it to the guy doing my gears tommorow.. so he can do them before he goes on a trail ride wensday.
  9. Well wish me luck, Off to the junk yard to get a front axle  and a shifter, might also snag a front radiator to do the open cooling conversion.
  10. Come down South.. there are lots of counties like that.... Thats why you will got moonshiners  There are some states where you can't buy beer in a 7-11 :huh???: You have to go to a pub/bar or a laundrymat (correct me if I am wrong PA guys). Heck when I grew up in New York, they had a Blue law... Only thing allowed to be open on a sunday was a grocery store,Phamacy, and a gas station... nothing else... which meant no family outings on sunday to go shopping
  11. Man, thats aawesome here on the right coast we don't have any events like that  BTW bald chicks are HOT
  12. I aksed the same question a few weeks back... here is a link to my post http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... hp?t=10097 You will also need a shifter, the TB, and sensors.
  13. Go with a 2" BB and bump stop it properly. I agree with eagle.. unless you change your rims, you are going to need to change your LCA's so they don't rub, or adjust your steering stops out, and decrease your turning radias I found a pic of my old 89 XJ with 31's.. all it had was a MJ shackle, and a new rubber isolator
  14. Well my RE build has been stalled by lack of funds, and a desire to have a streetable rig  eventuyally it will get finished. BUT do keep me inspired by finishing yours :D
  15. All kidding aside.. shop safety should be follwed at home wrenching on your stuff. I have had metal drilled out my eyes... it sucks. Had slag fall by my ear, sucks even worse. I wish I could say that I always were my gear (including gloves), but that would be a lie, but you can ask anyone who has ever been to my garage.. I always have plenty of mechanic, leather, and welding gloves on hand.
  16. Its creavitive marketing for those who don't read the fine print. Like no intrest or payment for a yr  catch there is you owe the money plus all accrured intrest from inception,or how some credit cards use 2 cycle billing. Say one month you charge a bunch of parts and pay it off, then the following month.. a house hold emergency comes up, and you can't pay the balance off... the average the 2 balances together to come up with your daily average then mutiply that by whatever your daily intrest rate is... needless to say you get screwed as the user of that card.
  17. Your rig gave Matt and Myself lots of inspiration when we where building Pong :brows: I wish I too would have skipped to the last step from the begining. Don't let these fanatics give you a hard time about cutting up a MJ, some of them are as fanatical as CJ owners :brows:
  18. Everyone here knows I am afraid to cut metal away :teehee: I was auctualy thinking of dovetailing the rear  THe guy who did the HACK work on the rig before I got it... cut way past the pinch seams in the rear, thne he tried to hide it with bondo and level it with a metal grining wheel :dunce: instead of sand paper  That being sad the panels are now loose, so I either need to mini tub the rear  or dovetail it, not sure which. More then likely Mini Tubs as they are easier to do. UP font I know I stil have to trim a touch more, and bend oveer the pinch seem... after that.. Bump stopping is all you can do
  19. Gloves :huh???: :shake: Those are for prissy dealership mechanics who have money ;) :brows:
  20. So is it just as simple as replacing the joint at the top? Then that isnt too bad :brows:
  21. I hope the winshield decal last a lil while  If it don't it means I did something that requires full use of the cage that is being installed
  22. They tell you some of the fine print in the add.. up to the frist 12k miles a yr. IF you look carefully they exclude some vehicles at the bottom. Basically it is like them giving you a rebate of 6K depending on your vehicle, cause you know they are going to use epa guidelines to figure out how much fuel you can get
  23. I was hopint to be able to use some 4.5 coils I have and run 33 mud rovers on it  but if that don't clear them.. I have a set of 6.5 coils laying around :D then I will just have to go buy some pizza cutters (34x9.5 LTB), to make it look right :smart:
  24. I got the tracking number Thanks again Adam. Any chance I could get a sticker.. I will give you some free shameless advertising on one of the fenders or bumpers :D I don't know how many rides they will last :hmm: :driving:
  25. I am not familar with their setup, but was the Jamb nut tight (if present)? I have a few stock Bars and brackets laying around if you need one to get by until you get a replacement.
