  1. Welcome I am Patrick from the Penisula
  2. I was thinking the same thing about the seatbelt, and the Hi-lift mounted to bumpers is generally a bad idea, at least where I wheel :brows:
  3. Well when I can find 31 spline shafts at the j-yard all day long.. It don't seem like much of a problem. Scrambelr you are right.. for you the d44 is a direct swap, and seems like the easiest option. The 8.8 is what I am running, and has proven to be a strong axle for the style of wheeling and driving that I do. As for the 8.8 not being a direct swap... it isnt far from it. brakes are easy to overcome, and there are plenty of good condition 8.8's in the j-yard, d44's are getting harder and harder to find
  4. Pete.. Nice pics of your rig. Now since you folded your fender over it is time to hack them off :brows: As for the LSD that failed in your rear... Just do like I did and weld it up
  5. Your LCA mounts scare me.... Please add some bracing behind them
  6. The front will be the same, the rear shocks are different.
  7. If you asking us what you should use.... I think you need to give me your money.. and I will show you how to spend it  To answer your question.. Moogs or d44's :thwak: what were you thinking when you asked that question.... Rockwells
  8. I must be doing something different... I had spring wrap with my stock junk, and have a lil when I get on Pong now
  9. I have seen a lot of parts breakage on the trail. As for what is stronger the 8.8 or the d44.. I don't know, but I know I wheel the piss out of my rig with an 8.8 and no failures. I also know of another guy with a d44 in his tj who broke the pinion with less then 10000 miles on his rig. The plus to swaping in a 8.8 is they are cheap, have disc brakes, and come with a lsd and 4.10 gears. The d44 you will have to more then likely swap gears (140 for gears plus time and labor.. did I mention the install kit), add disc brakes... figure a couple hundred for that.. and then add a LSd ... another few bucks. You tell me what is better
  10. cool lil video. It only proves a few things to me. All Wranglers, no matter where they are built, or what they are built for look the same. Who ever said lockers were overrated never wheeled
  11. Can you get them to tell you the compressed and extended lengths of them? Or get them to cross reference a stock monroe shock number
  12. Sagging leaf springs only get worse with the addition of lift blocks, or longer shackles. If your leaf springs were in good shape, I would say use a full size chevy drop shackle. they measure 83/4 inches eye to eye, and will net you about 2 inches, but thats still not enough to level your rig out. Pony up the coin and buy a new set of springs is probrably your best option
  13. SOA's do cause spring wrap :brows: It is all about how much you get. I have wrap with my Alcan springs, but it is not what I would call bad. It only really happens with me, when I am using the skinny pedal, and loosing traction. I am going to pul a leaf out of my Packs o increase flex, and when I do this, I will also build anti-wrap bar, using YJ bushings and a hiem/Johnny Joint. The ways to combat spring wrap.. Use longer spring perches, build anti-wrap bar, Don't hammer down on your rig
  14. You talk about you picking up an XJ .... I am going to look at one friday, and if it is half of what the guy advertised it as... It will be mine 91 jeep cherokee trail rig « Thread Started on 6/12/06 at 9:22 » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For sale: 91 Jeep Cherokee, white, 4 dr, 6 cyl, AX-15, NP231, Dana 44 front, 8.8 rear with locker, 3.5 Skyjacker coils and shocks with 1" spacer, Rusty lower control arms, stock uppers, dakota leaf springs, RE extended shackles, extended steel brake lines front and rear, RE HD trac bar and bracket, C-Rok steering box brace and cross brace, Homemade snorkel, cut fenders to fit 33x12.5 R15 Dunlop Mud Rovers on 5 on 5.5 chrome rims, Custom front bumper, roof rack, trailer hitch, Skid Row gas skid, toyota celica front seats, CD player and aftermarket speakers, 6 NEW Five-O "disc" style 19 lbs. fuel injectors, new dynomax muffler. 15. I was thinking Holy Mega lifts Batman
  16. And I slept at a Holiday Inn Express, and can spout out worthless info all you want :brows:
  17. makes you wonder why the guy sold it then
  18. Pong.. is a lil to far past this point to do that :brows: But I am sure I can find a beater rig to do it to
  19. it is more then likely a 4.10 gewar ratio. the other numbers more then likely are parts and build info on the axle.
  20. That is why it pays to have pro's do your gears
  21. No mine was beyond repair or even useable when we took my rig apart. It was totally caved in to the point that my gas tank would only hold 14 gallons
  22. That gives me ideas of grafting a MJ body onto a 1ton chevy
  23. pingpong

    yo ho ho!

Is that an a/c delete MJ. I see what looks like an idler pulley, but I am not sure.. need more info
  24. pingpong

    wtf

Either one of them is barely worth that in my opinon, especially since there is very lil parts interchangability. If it has 4.10's it might be worth it
