Don't hate on us.. cause we abuse our rigs

That is why most ppl pay the Pro's to install them... Just easier and cheaper.

Anybody got ideas on leaf springs?
pingpong replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You always could spin yopur MJ leafs around. MJ leafs are longer in the rear then the front. As for departure angle kicking your a$$, why do you thinks I did what i did to my rig :brows: -
Well The jeep God is smiling on me as of late :D I just bought a 91 xj , that I don't know what I am going to do with next :dunno: But then a buddy of mine just hooked me up with a killer deal. A 79 f250 parts rig It has the np205 t-case :D a d60 rear, and a hp44 front :smart: I think for the price I paid on both rigs.. I robbed the PO, but poo poo happens :redX: The pics are on my webshots page if you care to take a look http://community.webshots.com/user/cj7xjmj

Not sure how long the FSJ front leaves are, but I am sure the info is on Pirate. You can also try full size chevy trucks, I think theirs were long, and had a centered pin hole -
Nope  The rear is noticeably narrower. Still for a grand.. it might make a nice trail beater after I fix the problems.

I picke my new to me XJ up yesterday :D It has a lot of good parts on it like skid row gas tank skid, Optima blue top, MORE motor mounts, working CD player, Power trax locker in the 8.8, C-Rok steering plate, and RE HD trac bar and Mount, Skyjacker coils, 2" spacer, Nice homw made front bumper. Celica bucket seats, Over the knuckle steering, and DOM steering with 1 ton ends As for the bad.. Control arm angle suck... Front drivers side UCA mount is seriously lacking, the coil buckets, or the hieght of the lift needs to be adjusted. The front axle is out of a full width rig, and the rear Isnt. Over al it is worth the grand I paid for it.. now I just need to figure out what I want to do with it Pics are on my Webshots Page http://community.webshots.com/user/cj7xjmj

The guy is smoking some wacky tobacky if he thinks he wil get 5 grand for it :chillin:

I just bought an xj .. so I might buy it
-
I don't think there is enough triangulation on the top, or anywhere on that rig. Trust me triangles are strong :brows:
-
You attatch it using the studs for the lug nuts :smart:
-
Use a slide hammer :nanner:
-
Just remove more metal and getting less back spacing on your rims :brows: I am going to ruin 37's on Pong here soon... with no more hieght added. In fact I might lower Pong an inch or 2 :nanner:

Unimog Axles - crazy dream or expensive possiblity?
pingpong replied to jage's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is the same amount of work to make a 1/4 elliptical setup work PROPERLY as it is to build a true 4 link. Also it is easier to get the anti-squat and all those other numbers right building a 4 link. -
You mean full compression? The shackle would move farther awy from the tc when suspension drops. This is the same setup I have on my YJ, and it has been working well for a few years now. You are right....What kinda ends did you use at the shackle mount. I am in the design phase of building my antiwrap bar, as I need to remove a leaf or 2 from my Alcans to get them to flex better.

I might have to get a copy... Probrbably not, as I like to make things up as I go
-
Cool video. I like the way every rig had roll over protection :D That MJ is bad a$$.. I looked at a lot of pics of his rig when I was planning the build of mine. I just think some of the exo was Unneeded, as It didnt strengthen the rig any, but thats my opinion, it still is a bad @$$ rig
-
Its the same way here in VA. Alot of the younger crowd doesn't understand that unless they have permission to wheel there no too. It has gotten so bad... That the police now patrol some of the spots were these ppl wheel illegally. The sad thing is.. the more ppl that break the law.. the harder it is to have organized parks, and events. IN VA they can impound your vehicle and make you pay for ALL the damage done to the other persons land. I don't know if any of you have had dirt or gravel hauled to your house, but I just had a tandeem load of dirt brought to mine and it was 200 bucks.

Pretty much all MJ/XJ's all came with the 105amp. I have never heard of a 160 amp one being available. If it does fit give me the part number, I wil add one to my rig

1990 2.5L - VERY tight steering help...
pingpong replied to cmcolfax's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Or if you pay the gas.. I can run up there and you can put it on my trailer and get it home -
They sound like Hummer tires to me. I don't thing yo can make 36's fit w/o some serious body mods :nanner:

Unimog Axles - crazy dream or expensive possiblity?
pingpong replied to jage's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thw whole purpose of Moogs, are the strength and the ability to have a lower center of gravity. For roughly the same money you can get 2 steering rockwells for the price of one moog axle. it is also easier to narrow a rockwell. Only major disadvantage to rocks is the lack of ground clearance, but that can be achieved by running some 44's :brows: Anyway you are looking at it... back away slowly and give me your money and I wil show you how to build a Mog MJ, or one on rockwells for you -
Cole, That looks like a good design... except that the way he has his setup.. you will hit your t-case at full drop with the shackle, or at least that is how it seems.
