  1. What was the 2.5 diesel in? :hmm:
  2. If you are at 6.5" and are still using a TRE style trackbar... you need to stop and rethink what you are doing. I'm aware, but result of a trackbar failure would be the same.
  3. Get your kiester back there and snap a pic of the diff. I too can't say for sure, but it could definitely be a 44. If it's a 35, the angle skewer something somewhere.
  4. It's a toss-up. The drain plug on the bottom is 15/16, midplate bolts are metric, bolts that hold the bearing retainer and bellhousing on are standard, shifter bolts are metric...
  5. When I filled my AX-5, I removed the shifter and dumped in a pre-measured amount. Was a lot easier than dealing with the fill plug. Edit: I found from one of my old threads that the FSM calls for 7 pints, or 3.3 Liters.
  6. Always always always always always do a toe-in alignment after ANY height change(up or down), front axle swap, or steering component change. They are incredibly easy to do.
  7. Shouldn't be anything 88 specific about that. AFAIK, any XJ/MJ shaft up to at least 95 should work for you.
  8. Do a fuel pressure test. Did you make sure you got the sending unit plugged in? Are the fuel lines on the correct spots on the sending unit? Was the pump ever taken off the sender?
  9. Tach reads signal off of the coil, actually. Was the old master cylinder leaking into the cab?
  10. If you look closely at your TPS, you can see that one(might be both, don't remember) of the screws sits in a slot, not a hole, so you can adjust where the TPS is relation to the arm from the butterfly shaft in the throttle body. One of the electric gurus on here can better explain it or find you a DIY link. Not saying your TPS is shot, but adjusting it may be able to save you $60... especially since you'd need to adjust a new one after installation anyway.
  11. The CPS bolts do have a shoulder on them. If he got incorrect bolts, it could definitely throw the CPS off. It obviously still works, since it runs, but I would definitely get ahold of the correct bolts and see if there's any difference. Dizzy is in correctly, yes?
  12. TPS is adjustable. That may be all you need.
  13. Mine measures at 1 9/16" That's with a tape measure measuring with it in the truck, I'm sure a mic would be more specific.
  14. And dropping a trackbar TRE out of its bracket at 70 mph is NOT fun.
  15. They eventually got rid of it, my 91 does not have one.
  16. Not quite. 4 cylinder/4 speed stick (AX-4) have 3.55. Supposedly (have not been able to confirm personally yet) early 4 cylinder/auto had 4.56. I'm sorry. I meant to say all "Chrysler era" 4-cylinders. Yes, the early AMC XJs and MJs had some ratio variations, especially behind the 4-cylinders. Chrysler did away with all that. That's what was intended by my reference to "late model XJs." My 91 2.5 came with an AX-4 and 3.55 gears.
  17. If this doesn't work, I can go out and double check my Renix XJ.
  18. no, that's regular amc20's (NOT comanche amc20's...those are 1 piece) Pretty sure I remember posts about 84-85 D35 shafts being 2 piece.
  19. Aren't 84-85 shafts 2 piece shafts as well and should be avoided?
  20. No, the D30, 35, and Chrysler 8.25 are 41/10 so 4.10. The D44 I believe is 45/11, which is 4.09.
  21. I think the driver's side is longer, but not 100%. There should be an R or L stamped on the studs if they're original.
  22. Also make sure you get the correct side. D35 shafts are different lengths.
